Disappointing Customer Service and Concerns About Secondhand Smoke…read moreI was disappointed with my experience here, especially when it came to customer service and the environment for families with young children. I was inside with my 3-year-old son, looking at cards we were interested in purchasing, when I asked an employee if she could close the door because of the tobacco smoke coming inside. I felt it was a reasonable request, considering my young son was standing right there. Unfortunately, her reaction made the situation uncomfortable, and I felt as though she took offense to my request. What made the experience even more disappointing was that the employee appeared to take multiple smoking breaks while I was there. When she returned, she told me she was only being nice to me because of the tournament taking place and that otherwise, she would not have let me in. I found that comment unnecessary and unprofessional. I understand that people have different habits and preferences, but I believe customers, especially families with young children, should be able to enjoy a business without having to worry about exposure to secondhand smoke. If this establishment wants to be considered family-friendly, I believe the environment and customer service should reflect that. I currently have approximately 4,000 points that I plan to use on one final visit. After that, I will likely take my business elsewhere, possibly to Santa Maria or another location outside Lompoc. I value good customer service, respect, and a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, this experience fell short of those expectations. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and considers making improvements for the benefit of all customers, including families with children.

We didn't have a whole lot of time, but could definitely spend a few hours in their and not play the same game twice! The place was clean and the machine to get the players card was easy to use. The credits needed to play the game ranged from 3-8 credits among the games we played and were a great price for the amount of time we got on them. The Spiderman coin machine one just kept going long after I thought we used enough tokens in the game! We didn't get to spend the tickets we earned this time around but the prizes looked like better quality prizes compared to the other places. We will definitely be coming back when we have more time!

However, I'm giving a one-star rating due to their severely overpriced retro games and consoles. I understand the overhead costs, repairs, and testing required to ensure products work, but most items are marked up at least 20% higher than other local game stores. I came in specifically looking to support local business by buying a PSP-3001, but they wanted $220 for just the console and charger. For comparison, I found a bundled PSP on eBay with preloaded games for $180. There are plenty of other retro game stores in the area with much fairer, more competitive pricing. Even standard retailers like GameStop offer better deals along with 1 to 2 year extended warranties. Great atmosphere, but the prices are hard to justify.

We also have several binders filled with cards that are more than 10 years old, and they explained why we should take the valuable cards out of the binders and protect them with special sleeves and holders instead. We really appreciated the advice, and my son is now excited to go through his collection and store everything properly. Brooklyn was awesome--honest, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind. He took his time with my teenager and made the entire experience enjoyable. When we got home, we scanned one of the cards my son purchased, and it was definitely worth what we paid. They're also happy to help appraise cards, which is wonderful for beginners like us. We truly appreciate having such a great local shop and will definitely be back!

I saw so many great, used books in the classic literature section I wanted, but I currently have way too many books I need to read and so little time, I didn't purchase any during this visit. There are three: and orange tabby, a fluffy calico-looking kitty, and a grey and white kitty. The grey and white one greeted us instantly when we walked in, and s/he definitely made us feel welcome and at home. The other kitties were so adorable and friendly too! They weren't as affectionate as the grey and white one, but they let us pet them and looked so content in the bookstore. I snagged four books I was looking for - two of the Outlander books and the first two books of the Red Sparrow trilogy. They were in great condition and in total I only paid $21 for all four!
