My daughter has been attending Leighton for four years. She started when she was just little tiny and she has had amazing instructors, loved every recital, and has become a good little dancer. She has loved some classes more than others, but LDP has always been super organized, the office is always friendly and super helpful, and from the first day they made us feel like family. I don't yelp very often but read a couple bad reviews and felt obligated to tell new comers what a great experience we've had. Go watch a recital! I decided to take my son here after hearing a positive recommendation for them from a local dance studio who didn't teach the genre of dance that we were interested in. I called the front desk to inquire about their program and the lady who answered was super nice and gave me all the information that I needed; not only was the price that was quoted decent but the lady I talked to pretty much sold me with her amazing personality and just how passionate she seemed as she told me about the program. She also said that we could sign up for a free trial to attend a class prior to officially signing up, which was the icing on the cake. Once we got there and class was starting, I was told by the teacher that parents had to wait outside. I noticed right off the bat that the teacher didn't seem very friendly or talkative. She closed the door and shut the blinds, so that no one from the outside could see anything on the inside and vice-versa. Over by the front desk, there was a small sitting area, though, where you could sit down and watch your children on the camera monitors, which is what my husband and I did. After the class ended, I asked the teacher how my son did and she was hesitant in saying that it went fine but that there were more advanced children in the class who had been attending for at least a few months, so this class may be too fast paced for him. I was truly shocked because a) I had been watching my son on the monitor the entire time and he was keeping up perfectly with the teacher and the other children b) This was only my son's FIRST day and c) If they were so concerned about everyone being on the same skill level, why were they accepting new students 3 months in? If they want everyone to be at the same level, they need to have a specific registration period, not let everyone in at any time and then complain about how your child isn't as advanced as the other children. Well, of course he's not going to be when he's brand new and according to you, the other children have been in that class for the past 3 months. Duh! I found this teacher's whole demeanor to be ridiculous and just downright weird. When we got home, I checked my email and had received a follow-up email from the gentleman at the front desk who had initially greeted us. I responded to that email two days ago with my feedback and have yet to receive a response back. As a teacher, you should be confident in your ability to bring children up to speed and in turn, also feel confident in that child's potential. Instead, this teacher came across as very dismissive of us, which we didn't appreciate. It's unfortunate this encounter had to happen, as it really has left a sour taste in my mouth, but it's just more reason for us to not return to LDP and not recommend them to our friends and family. read more

This is our first year with LDP and I couldn't be more satisfied. My daughter absolutely loves going to dance and talks about it non stop. Her teacher, Miss Cat, is amazing with toddlers. It is evident that she truly loves dancing and working with children. I hope my daughter's love for dance continues to grow because she is learning so much! read more

This studio deserves 5 stars for sure! We moved our 12 year old dancer to Leighton Dance Project when it opened because we knew the best teachers in the Sacramento area were teaching there (in my opinion)! Staff are friendly, professional and really know their stuff. This is not just a place for accomplished dancers either....they have a wonderful preschool program and summer camps. I wish it was open for my daughter when she was young, it would have been our choice then too! They also have classes for recreational dancers who aren't as serious! In the fall they will be expanding and offering tumbling (tumbling in summer classes too) in so there will be even more choices for classes. This will be my daughters 7th year dancing for LDP! She started at LDP when she was 5 years old! The faculty is wonderful, encouraging, knowledgeable and super upbeat! This is an amazing dance studio. It's really more like a family the way that everyone is treated with respect and looks out for each other. I've been dancing for nearly 40 years in the Sacramento region and this studio has a class for adults who like to perform, which is great to show the kids that dancing is AGELESS and you can continue dancing for the rest of your life. Every instructor at this studio has a true passion for dance. The kids who dance and perform her smile because of the pure joy coming out of their bodies, and are not smiling because they 'have' to. LDP is a fabulous studio and one of the best in town. LDP is successful in hosting many events to bring Hollywood-named and Emmy award winning choreographers to the community and LDP dancers. Just recently, one of the main dancers for a HUGE NAME performer came to teach some hip hop classes at a workshop. No other studio has ever offered this caliber of choreography to the community.
