As a former student of Leicester University, I have to agree with the previous review that the building itself and the facilities are a bit hit and miss. Funnily enough, the Student Union itself is often rated amongst the best in the country, but that's more about the people running it than the facilities themselves.
You can find most services you would need as a student in this building, from arranging travel, to dealing with personal problems, as well as all the usual student union stuff including a well stocked shop and gymnasium.
The Redfearne bar is what most students will be most interested in (and no doubt spend most of their time in!). To be honest, compared to other student union bar's I've been to; Leicester's is fairly tatty in comparison and in need of a bit of renovation! The other university in the city - De Montfort - has a much better and modern student union bar/venue. That said, its not all bad, the drink prices are as expected cheap and there are many excellent promotions to be had. I would not suggest eating from here though, as the food isn't exactly great quality or good value. read more
