Diagnosed accurately that our main Problem was a propane flow problem, guess what, local propane provider tried to say it wasn't their equipment and was plumber related - this or that deflecting from their equipment. AFTER one very expensive water heater burned up due to inadequate gas flow, a new replacement by Steve (a second high quality water heater), Steve advised us the new water heater would most likely fail just like the first one (that was only 18 months old)! He determined it was a faulty propane gas regulator at the meter. Two guys from our local propane gas provider came out and checked all connections today and were baffled. We asked them to replace the propane gas regulator as our plumber had suspected was the problem. Thankfully they listened and complied after having fully researched other potential causes for my problem. Once they installed the new propane gas regulator all systems checked out safely and with "blue flame" instead of gold! Steve was right from the onset, we have had him do a couple of other plumbing related tasks and again, he was polite, and very professional AND affordable! Casey made the work appear professional at first, but during the very first storm after installation, the skylight leaked so badly that water was pouring into the house. The situation was severe enough that our paying guests stated the home was unusable and checked out early because of the amount of water coming in. We immediately sent a licensed roofer to inspect the work. The roofer took photos and confirmed the skylight was installed incorrectly and not properly sealed at all. Basic, standard waterproofing steps were skipped entirely. This was not a materials issue. It was poor workmanship. We contacted Casey multiple times with the documentation and the urgency of the situation. He did not respond, did not offer to fix the problem, and took zero responsibility. He simply avoided us. No follow up. No accountability. Completely unprofessional behavior. This caused us lost rental income, additional repair costs, and unnecessary stress. Between the failed installation and the way he disappeared afterward, this felt like dealing with a rookie amateur rather than a professional contractor. Recently, I one of our kitchen fluorescent lights began strobing (flashing on and off). As I had…read morereplaced the ballast a few years ago, it was probably either the other ballast or the bulb. After buying a replacement bulb (which is getting harder to find as they are "outlawed" now by the folks in Sacramento) I learned that it was not the bulb as the flashing continued. I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to LED rather than chase a second ballast. This was about a 10x difference out of pocket but as I just got paid by a couple of side jobs, we could afford it. Based on Yelp reviews, I called Evan's Handyman Co. Everything from there until completion went as well as I could have asked for. A professional of theirs stopped by, gave me a firm bid, we scheduled time, they called when an earlier slot opened up, and the work was done by 7 minutes after the original start time.
