I called Recology today because as a resident of Mountain View I have been paying for 3 bins but…read morehave only ever had 2. I wanted to request an additional bin. I spoke to an emotionally challenged Melissa. She did not listen to me and kept finding another service address. Even after I spelt the number and street address a few times, she said my address did not exist. I told her to look on maps to confirm. She then went on a tirade against me and my attitude and my talking loudly. Yes, talking softly did nothing to get the job done. No apologies from her. I asked to pass me to someone else. SHE DID NOT ALLOW THAT. She claimed she spoke to her manager and put me on hold for a while but came back to insult me even more. She had absolutely no idea about finding a single family home Then she accused me of making her cry! i had no choice but to hang up. I am very busy and really have no time to provide therapy for Melisa in addition to sorting out my own trash. Why on earth Mountain View City chose this trash company (excuse the pun) for trash I don't know but I sure wish there was some democratic process involved when we are forced to pay for this. In addition the compost pick up truck has attitude. If just one leaf is showing through the lid they simply do not empty the bin. They do not take the bin if THEY THINK its tightly packed. I mean they dont even try. I have watched them. We don't know if the leaves will come out if they tip it over. This has happened several times. When I called to complain in the past I was told there would be an additional charge to send them back !!

Always a lovely trip that makes you feel good!…read more My daughter and I have been coming here for close to 15 years now. We are Sunnyvale residents, I have always felt so lucky to have such an clean and organized recycle center close by. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They always explain the rates and count everything with you to ensure you understand the value of your recycled goods. As a Girl Scout troop leader/volunteer mom for 8 years; they were always so help and obliging to my request for an annual tour of the center with the girls - to earn their recycle & be green badge It's beyond me why anyone would have a negative experience or bad review - this place is literally paradise of the recycle world. Perhaps they have never been to the others in the Bay Area. Bonus: if you are a Sunnyvale or Mountain View resident you can pick up free wood chips and compost dirt for your garden. They provide two gallons for free per week with proof of residency.

Favorite place to recycle cans. I had tried using those Olyns machines before but every time I…read morewould go, they'd be broken or get full before my turn in line. I only use the can machine here. It doesn't matter if the cans are crushed or not -- it's by weight. Just bring your cans over to the guy who helps place them in the machine to weigh them. It's super quick. Then you take your receipt to the Cashier to cash out. The line can get long, but I've never waited more than 10 minutes if there are 4 or 5 people in front of me. People who work here are really chill and nice. My mom is addicted to drinking diet sodas, so the equivalent of about 3 trash bags of her cans (about 8 pounds) made me $14! Someone's trash can be another person's treasure.

With every section you visit (ie. cans, plastic, glass, scrap metal), you receive a receipt which you keep. When you're done visiting the different stations, you take all your receipts to the cashier, who moves at the pace of a sloth, show your ID, sign a document, and receive your recycle cash. When I come here, one of my biggest gripes is that I take the time to separate my recyclables in bags and the employees throw them in a container with either cans falling out or glass bottles breaking when they don't make it into the weighing container and I lose out on my weight. Because I want to reclaim all the CRV that I paid on my wine bottles, distilled water bottles, and cans and plastic from my last party, I begrudgingly come here year after year. Recycling on a weekday is less crowded than a weekend. Lastly, be careful of all the fork lifts zooming about and people parking.

So this is a great place when it's open but since Covid 19 came along they have had to close temporarily. He grabbed a couple of bins over to my trunk and told me to unload. A few seconds later, another car drove in and the same worker immediately walked over to help him unload his cans instead. Maybe the guy was a frequent customer but damn, the differential treatment was hella obvious. The worker helped him unload everything and helped him carry everything to the weighing station. It all happened so quick that he even skipped me in line. When I was done unloading, I asked for some help carrying the bins over to the weighing stations (as I saw workers help other people), but I was just told to carry the glass bottle bins myself. Umm sure that would make sense if the other customers small in stature like me too but they were literally men who seemed big enough to not need the help. Regardless, they're nicer if you know Spanish. They're friendlier if you've buddied up with them before. Ironically the workers make it seem like some boy's club catering to their own yet their bosses are Asian. It's too much of a hassle dealing with their behavior that I'd much rather recycle elsewhere next time.

Danny's Recycling Center was a sufficient option. The process was quick and fairly easy, though I did need a little bit of instruction since it was my first time here. Luckily there were plenty of staff to help out on a Saturday afternoon. Basically, once you enter, you park in the spaces on the right hand side. Then bring out your recycling and organize your items in large bins (the typical commercial round plastic trash cans) which are provided by staff. Next, they walk the bins to the machine which counts and crushes your recyclables (you can watch it go up the conveyor belt and come out the other side). Afterward, they give you a slip of paper with numbers printed on it, and you take this to the cashier windows across from the machinery where it is exchanged for cash and a receipt to sign (along with a customer copy). It was a very straightforward process. I was paid by weight (per pound) for my aluminum cans, but paid per item for my plastics, probably cuz I had less than 15 bottles. A stress free experience overall.

Keep in mind there is a constant sour smell from all the recyclable drippings that seems to be on everything such as ground, containers that they use to weigh recyclables and the surrounding bins full of recyclables. I really haven't figured out why we pay full price for CRV items but when I take them to the recycler I'm paid less for my bulk recyclables. Everything is weighed separately but still I always feel like I'm getting ripped off. Well I guess its the way of the world...pay Peter and be robbed by Paul. I think its a better deal to save up 50 items each of plastic bottles, glass bottles and aluminum cans cuz if you cash in that way at least they will pay full CRV price but then on the other hand you are limited.

The place is dirty with sticky ground as expected in recycling centers. One star is purposely removed because it did take such extra time to wait in line (even on weekdays) also because they do completely shut down their FULL operation for lunch from 1 to 130PM and we, thus, the customers all had to stand around and patiently wait for their normal returns:( Nevertheless, we will come back again because they're HONEST!!
