YOU MUST MAKE AN APPOINTMENT to bring in your CRV. Next available appointments are 2-3months out. We made an appointment in late January and got an appointment in April. So make sure you make an appointment and expect a 2-3month wait time. Very fast! We were in and out in 10 minutes! Check in with an attendant! Let them know what materials you are recycling. If you have glass and they will bring out the glass only bin for you. You must sort plastic and aluminum into separate grey bins that are already there for you. They weigh and count everything and then give you the receipt to sign and give you CASH. TIPS: - I suggest coming 5 minute earlier than your appointment. Some people come to dump things in the general recycling bins and might block the drive way. Just be mindful of that and just parallel park on the street. - SORT YOUR ITEMS IN ADVANCE, rinse your items as you go. Drink/Rinse/Recycle. Or else it will be sticky....

So I'm not sure why this place is only 2 stars. We have been coming here for years and have never had a problem. TO be fair this review is not for their global garbage service, but rather the drop in recycling center. First off its only a few miles from our house so its convenient to say the least. They have plenty of large bins for you sort your stuff prior to weighting. They do make you take off your lids on you plastic but they do not make you sort your glass colors. You drag them up, they get weighted and you get paid cash on the spot. Whats not to like? The downside is that if its crowded it can take a bit as there is at best 1-2 guys manning the center. This also explains the variable lunch times etc. They close the gates, take care of the customers inside, then go to lunch. that can make the time change depending on the crowd. We typically are not there at lunchtime so we avoid the mess completely. Service is always friendly and we have never had an issue. You can also dump off florescent bulb, electronics, and cardboard etc as well

Open Saturday 9am-4pm, except when closed for lunch. Update the published hours so people don't waste time to drive here and see this!

Please update your published hours so that people know not to come when the business is closed for lunch. While certain items can be dropped off outside of this fenced area, e.g., cardboard and paper, items like electronics cannot.

They closed the gates a half hour before closing and turned people away. Luckily I was inside so my stuff was handled. They had everyone finished by 3:42 so I guess they just want to leave early. Hours should reflect when you are actually open! They blocked the whole place up at 3:30. Your best bet is to come in the morning.

My paper recycling under the grey lid that apparently isn't good enough for them to empty the bin.

Pretty easy for getting your deposits back. The low ratings are from people leaving comments about garbage pickup.

Always seems to be fairly easy to recycle here. Always lots of bins for cardboard and never too crowded.

Danny's Recycling Center was a sufficient option. The process was quick and fairly easy, though I did need a little bit of instruction since it was my first time here. Luckily there were plenty of staff to help out on a Saturday afternoon. Basically, once you enter, you park in the spaces on the right hand side. Then bring out your recycling and organize your items in large bins (the typical commercial round plastic trash cans) which are provided by staff. Next, they walk the bins to the machine which counts and crushes your recyclables (you can watch it go up the conveyor belt and come out the other side). Afterward, they give you a slip of paper with numbers printed on it, and you take this to the cashier windows across from the machinery where it is exchanged for cash and a receipt to sign (along with a customer copy). It was a very straightforward process. I was paid by weight (per pound) for my aluminum cans, but paid per item for my plastics, probably cuz I had less than 15 bottles. A stress free experience overall.

He grabbed a couple of bins over to my trunk and told me to unload. A few seconds later, another car drove in and the same worker immediately walked over to help him unload his cans instead. Maybe the guy was a frequent customer but damn, the differential treatment was hella obvious. The worker helped him unload everything and helped him carry everything to the weighing station. It all happened so quick that he even skipped me in line. When I was done unloading, I asked for some help carrying the bins over to the weighing stations (as I saw workers help other people), but I was just told to carry the glass bottle bins myself. Umm sure that would make sense if the other customers small in stature like me too but they were literally men who seemed big enough to not need the help. Regardless, they're nicer if you know Spanish. They're friendlier if you've buddied up with them before. Ironically the workers make it seem like some boy's club catering to their own yet their bosses are Asian. It's too much of a hassle dealing with their behavior that I'd much rather recycle elsewhere next time.

Always a lovely trip that makes you feel good!…read more My daughter and I have been coming here for close to 15 years now. We are Sunnyvale residents, I have always felt so lucky to have such an clean and organized recycle center close by. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They always explain the rates and count everything with you to ensure you understand the value of your recycled goods. As a Girl Scout troop leader/volunteer mom for 8 years; they were always so help and obliging to my request for an annual tour of the center with the girls - to earn their recycle & be green badge It's beyond me why anyone would have a negative experience or bad review - this place is literally paradise of the recycle world. Perhaps they have never been to the others in the Bay Area. Bonus: if you are a Sunnyvale or Mountain View resident you can pick up free wood chips and compost dirt for your garden. They provide two gallons for free per week with proof of residency.

Santa Clara County's official .gov website is telling SCC residents that this is a station that…read morewill help you with recyclables. Upon visiting, the clerks will tell you they only serve specifically Sunnyvale residents and no one else. 1. Go to https://hhw.sccgov.org/home 2. Search for "Drop-Off Locations" 3. Click on "Battery and Fluorescent Bulb Drop-Off Locations" as an example 4. It will bring you to a map with recyclable location icons and lists SMaRT Station Sunnyvale as an eligible place WITHOUT mentioning any residency restrictions. Also, good luck trying to reach anyone by phone. I spent a good 15 minutes calling multiple times but to no avail. No one is accepting Fluorescent Bulb recycling anymore it seems. Home Depot won't take it, neither will Lowe's. Also the map is incredibly outdated, there's a lot of hardware stores listed like Ace Hardware that closed up shop many years ago. If people can't find out a way to properly recycle these materials it just increases the likelihood they will trash it and thus harming our environment and overall community. Santa Clara County and city of Sunnyvale need to figure this out.
