Came for breakfast. Lots of good coffee and teas. Even mimosas. The wife had the egg florentin with a side of bacon. I had the 2 eggs over medium with bacon, great potatoes and good bakery toast. My family and I brought our guests to dinner at the legends and the owner humiliated me and my service dog. He ignorantly vocalized to other diners and his staff his displeasure for my service dog saying he wished he could buy a fake vest for his dog and pass it off as a service dog. My service dog comes from Freedom Service Dogs of America, an organization that purpose breeds and custom trains dogs that empower individuals with disabilities to live lives filled with possibility. To anyone with a disability requiring you to live with a service dog, know that this business does not welcome you and will humiliate you in front of others. read more

What a hidden gem of a restaurant we found in a hidden little gem of a town, at Legends on Main in La Veta Colorado. La Veta Colorado has a little over 800 people living there, and have some of the nicest, friendliest, people that we have ever met... M D W, and I ate at L o M, a little dining oasis where you can eat in their lovely garden terrace under umbrellas, or in there nicely appointed restaurant inside. The menu is not huge but it, and their blackboard daily specials insures that you will be sure to find something to make your culinary repast memorable... Looking at the rest of the filled tables at Legends on Main, the smiles on our fellow diners faces, you know why this place is popular, a winning combination of good food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere. I ordered a taco salad, that was delicious with a great combination of ingredients, the love of my life ordered a bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado sandwich, she said it was a great combination, and the bread was exceptionally good. My wife and I were traveling through on our way to our air bnb. The staff are very friendly and the decor is welcoming. We ordered the guacamole and salsa, the chips were warm and salted just right, the salsa and guacamole were delicious and seasoned wonderfully. Over-priced food, biscuits dry (biscuits and gravy) English muffins with eggs Benedict were dry and so hard I couldn't eat them. The waiter was rude as my husband asking for clarification on the order - the host had misunderstood the change he had made. When the waiter came to ask us how we liked everything, I was in the middle of giving feedback and he said "good!" and walked away! I am a bit confused why so many people wait to eat here and why they refuse to take reservations unless it is a party of 5 or more. Best way to manage the traffic flow through your restaurant is reservations. The menu is quite basic and limit which is ok for a small town. And they do have daily specials. But if your daily special includes a soup of the day, don't you think it would be smart to state if the soup is served COLD?! Not good. So what do I have positive to say? The waitress was very attentive and sweet. The nachos were fairly decent. And the restaurant is a cute little location. read more

We found this lovely surprise while driving on the scenic Highway of Legends. Everyone who worked there was friendly and provided exceptional service. I had the tarragon chicken in an avocado with champagne vinaigrette. The flavor and different textures were wonderful! My husband had the blt. The bacon was exceptional, and he enjoyed his entire meal. The restaurant filled up as we were eating, and we were thankful we arrived when we did. This had a great patio space for Sunday brunch. We had about a 20 minute wait with no reservations in the early afternoon. My friend got the tamales which were recommended, but I tried a bite and thought they were too spicy for me. I got the biscuits and gravy which was good. It was a relatively limited menu with only breakfast items, but enough variety. We also had mimosas. They was a bit of an issue when a group of people joined another table which made it too many per COVID guidelines. The manager (?) tried to address it, but the customers didn't listen and said they had the owners permission. read more

I brought friends here from out of town. There were four of us. A couple, their daughter, and myself. It was their 28 year wedding anniversary. Cody was our waiter, he was absolutely awesome. We started with delicious mimosas, made by Cody. We shared the guacamole. We all had different items off the menu, and an order of the split pea soup. You'll want a reservation, but once you're in the staff is attentive, friendly, and informative. Our waitress recommended the breaded cat fish special which was first rate. The downside was that meant we didn't get one of the stellar looking mexican entrees. Next time. The tuna poke appetizer was a wonderful surprise, and damn, the bourbon apple pie. WOW! Had dinner here last night- the special (Green chili chicken lasagne) was so good that I returned for lunch today. Even the simple items on the menu are fantastic! The club sandwich had locally sourced bacon and generous avocado, perfectly ripe tomatoes, and the presentation was beautifull. Topped off my lunch today wiith an on-tap IPA in a frosty glass - then they talked me into delicious home made apple pie Ala mode which did not disappoint. My husband and I had the Legend Burger. Outstanding. I requested not to have a hamburger bun but sour dough bread if possible. They said we can do this. Asked for mayo and Ketchup for my burger and again no problem. The potatoes that came with the burger were wonderful. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Honestly, I waited 45+ mins for a sub par burrito on a Thursday night. Way too spicy and I've had much better elsewhere. I guess with all the 5-star maybe it was just a miss but seriously a $20 burrito should not take 45 mins or be cold when you get it. Plus it came with a sad piece of garlic bread and some lettuce????
