I didn't have the chance to make it up to Henry Cowell State Park, but this location seemed a compromise since I was making my way to the Mystery Spot. I meandered through the trails just east of Branciforte Drive. The trails are well groomed, easy to hike with younger children and pets, and it was such a pleasant quiet morning for me. The trees were so tall and impressive, and I enjoyed being out in nature but close to civilization at the same time. If I had more time in the area, I would have spent more time here. I think it is a great location for locals to get out and enjoy nature!

But from what we could see from the parking lot it looked pretty cool: baseball diamond, picnic benches, BBQ set up, etc. What kid wouldn't be stoked to have this in their backyard!? It straddles Garland Ranch and Carmel Valley so it's a totally gorgeous area. It's just more of a neighborhood/local youth little league field than a place to hike.

There is an extensive playground with different types of swings, merry-go-round things, a large playhouse thing, and several slides on a little hill on the playground. In the area with the slides they have turf material and there is a recycling box with cardboard so that kids can use it and also sled down the hill. They have different types of courts like for basketball, pickleball, tennis, baseball. There is lots of space to walk on the gravel path, and there is sort of a pond area (which appears to be less maintained). There are many picnic areas that are shaded too. I really liked that the area the birthday party was located had a gate so that kids wouldn't run out and away. The playground also had a gate on it too, which is great for childrens' safety and parents' ease of minds! We noticed the bathrooms are somewhat high tech with lights to activate the automatic doors and lights to indicate that the bathroom is occupied. I didn't go in, so I can't comment on cleanliness/upkeep. Wish this kind of park was more common. I would highly recommend this park!

New magical bridge playground opens this weekend. It's not even open yet and it looks beautiful so far :) It has a dog park, a trail, a basketball court, a tennis court, and a baseball field. I almost forgot, the ducks! It has a lake with ducks! I like walking the trail because there are plenty of trees which creates shade, so it's not just sunny. The bathrooms are located in between the tennis courts and the baseball field. Also, parking is free! Anyone can come with children, strollers, solo individuals, people with dogs, anyone. Everyone is in their own world, living their life with nature.

There is also a playground for the younger siblings of athletes to amuse themselves. While dogs are allowed in the playground and baseball park, they are not allowed in the soccer field area.

I was part of a birding class led by Rita Carratello, offered through the Pacific Grove Adult Education Program. It is a quiet park, and many times you will hear the birds before you see them. We had a picnic on the field one day and do not recommend it because there are wasps that circle you. There are dandelions there, so it will be a cute photo opt for your children to blow them and take a picture. The playground was closed off due to SIP, yet there were still children playing on it with parents near by. When children slide down, the slide is high from the ground. I wouldn't recommend the slides for a toddler.
