The…read moreLittleworth farm is a short 20 minute drive from Avalon and it has a fun pick your own blueberry orchard. The blueberries were added last year (2014) and they have a few varieties available. We emailed in the morning to find out if the timing was right for a visit and Karl's wife, Janet responded quickly to confirm that they were open and could handle our big group of 15 adults and kids. We quickly picked about 13 pounds of blueberries. They're tasty and we're enjoying blueberry pancakes and have plans for many more treats. If you are looking for a great, easy, and fun activity while at the shore check out Littleworth farm for blueberry picking.

My husband had planned a trip for us to go sunflower picking at Timberline Farms over the weekend…read more The days leading up to our visit, we were constantly checking the weather forecast as there was a high chance it was going to rain. Joe, the owner was cool enough to reach out to my husband hours before our reservation to let him know we can come by after our 10am reservation when the rain stops. It ended up just being light rain, which worked out for us, as we brought our dog who tends to overheat. Timberline Farms IS dog friendly! When we arrived, Joe handed us a couple of buckets and knives and we proceeded to pick out our sunflowers. The 2-acre sunflower field has over 35,000 sunflowers and was amazing! We could pick as many sunflowers as our buckets could hold. Walking through the sunflower fields and taking pictures was fun! At the end, we get to go home with the sunflowers we've picked. All of this is included in the $12 ticket price. We also saw Joe's wife, Kelly milking a goat at the farm. She uses the goat milk to make soap. The soaps are beautiful and smell lovely, and I cannot wait to use them! These soaps are also available on their website and tend to sell out quickly.

We probably ate a couple of pints worth while we were picking which is not only approved but encouraged. The lady who runs it is very helpful and pleasant and the prices are well below the other pick-your-own farms nearby. We will eat many of the blueberries in the next couple of days but we will also freeze most of what we picked for later. We will also go back this weekend with our grandchildren and pick more. This is a great activity for them while here at the NJ shore. Since the season started early this year and will probably end in a couple of weeks, we will be sure to get to the farm as soon as the grandkids arrive. My SO and I stopped at Balic while we were in the area and the winery is a bit small, but very nice. We were early, so we had time to chat with the owner for a while before people started showing up. We got to sample every wine and ended up leaving with a case for an extremely reasonable price. You cannot buy Balic in stores, but you may be lucky finding a restaurant that carries them exclusively. This is a must while travelling south, also, try the blackberry wine because it is exquisite.

I took mostly sweet and my husband got mostly dry. The lady at the register was not the friendliest of hosts and ultimately made us feel pretty unwelcome. The store is quaint and reminds me of an older Italian bakery. I find Tomasello's sweet wines to some of the best I've tasted. I typically enjoy a semi-sweet wines but I really enjoy their fruit moscatos. My favorites from today are the Daffodil wine, the watermelon moscato, broomstick brew, and the Reiner rose. My least favorites were the cookies and cream wine and the ports. I just don't think cream wines are for me. I generally like ports but these were pretty syrupy. Overall, this was not my best experience at Tomasello, but since my other experiences have been so much better, I'll be back.

I am a fan of festivals in general, and this one was pretty good. While I wouldn't make a special…read moretrip here from Philly in the future, I would be happy if I happen to be here this time next year. The festival was at Bader Field, and the whole admission/parking thing is...interesting. They don't charge you admission, but they do charge you to park - $10. It's not that much but it does make sense to carpool. You're parking on a grass meadow, so if your car is close to the ground like mine, it's not too comfortable. Bring your truck if you've got it, but any normal car would be fine. The other annoying this is that there's no markers for determining where you parked - so it may take a while to find your car. Hopefully you have one of those panic buttons to locate it. There's also no directions on exiting, so you may drive around for a while just trying to get out. There was some bike festival going on that I passed on my way in that looked interesting too. Now the festival itself is almost all seafood as you'd expect. It certainly didn't disappoint on that. There was everything from legit gourmet restaurants there with offerings to greasy spoons, to food-truck hipstery things. most of the stuff was pretty standard stuff. Some was overpriced (I'm looking at you - $10 for one fish taco guy), but most was pretty reasonable. I really enjoyed the Chart House offerings that were both delicious and reasonably priced. The Guy Fieri place was there - who must have forgotten it was a seafood festival because I could be wrong, but I don't think they offered any seafood. Pulled Pork and Mac n Cheese burger if I recall correctly. There was this other place, the Laughing Crab Catering company that also had decent food, but the owner was not a nice guy. Well i don't know if he was the owner - he certainly acted like it. Older guy, white hair, bad attitude. He seemed so positively upset that he was there. It was super bad energy for the otherwise fun atmosphere. I've never been to Havre de Grace, MD - where this place claims to be from - but I don't have the highest opinion of it so far - to put it mildly. This place had a lot of options, probably more than any other place I saw and was not impressed with their crab cakes, despite it being "real" and not merely "maryland style." It tasted like a deep fried crab flavored fishcake. It needed tartar sauce. There really wasn't anything too creative either, other than the SPUDWICH - which was a fantastic idea from the "one potato two" shop where they use large potato skins as bread and put all kinds of things inside them to make a sandwich. The owner's son was super nice and genuine and enjoyed talking with him about the SPUDWICH story. There was a live band too that was very good. Did not catch their name. There were also cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, and a beer garden. All in all, I had a good time and was very happy to have visited.

My family and I drove approximately two hours to attend this seafood festival and spent approximately $50 in gas. When we arrived, we were shocked and extremely disappointed to discover that the event had actually ended weeks ago. Despite this, tickets were still being advertised and sold through Eventbrite, giving customers the impression that the event was still scheduled to take place. This is completely unacceptable. We made the trip in good faith based on the information provided when we purchased our tickets. Instead, we wasted several hours traveling to an event that did not exist on the advertised date and incurred additional expenses because of this error. Since we had traveled two hours and were expecting to attend the festival, my family and I were also left without the food we had planned to purchase at the event. We ultimately had to spend approximately $200 on food elsewhere. I purchased three tickets. One of the tickets has a different confirmation number, so I will be submitting a separate refund request for that ticket as well. I am requesting the following: A full refund for all three tickets Compensation for approximately $50 in gas expenses Reimbursement or appropriate compensation for the approximately $200 we spent on food because the event was not taking place Additional compensation for the time, inconvenience, and disruption caused by this situation Customers should never be able to purchase tickets to an event that has already ended. Continuing to advertise and sell tickets for an event that is no longer taking place is extremely misleading and demonstrates a serious lack of communication and professionalism. I expect this matter to be investigated and resolved promptly. Please confirm when my full refund will be issued and how you intend to address the additional expenses and inconvenience we experienced. I look forward to your immediate response. it's going on a week and still no response.
