My husband and I contracted Legacy Windows and Doors to build a room addition onto the back of our house, as well as a stamped concrete patio & a pergola on Jan 29, 2019. Two weeks later, on Feb 14, 2019 we signed an additional contract with them to replace all of the windows in our home, replace our siding and add stone work to the front of our house. At the time of signing the first contract on Jan 29th, Mark, the owner, estimated that it would take approximately 3 weeks to get the permits &approximately 4 weeks to build the room addition. Regarding the windows and siding he said it takes about 10 days for them to come in & then would be installed quickly. Starting in late Feb we would get emails one or two times a week promising there would be some start on our job, on a certain day. The promised day would come & go & no one would show up. We wouldn't even get a phone call or text saying they wouldn't be there or why. By mid April, he had still not obtained any permits, he failed to get approval from our HOA (which I had specifically asked & was told, in the beginning that they would take care of), he claimed to have many of the materials to do the job, but when I asked multiple times to have the materials delivered to our house, they never showed up. Part of the contract included "professional drawings" of our project; which I ended up needing to obtain HOA approval. I was expecting some facsimile of a blueprint or at least a CAD rendering, but instead, after multiple requests received some pencil drawings on graph paper with the barest minimum of information on it. Absolutely no work was done until the end of May. Very, very slowly some things were done. People would show up & work for a week then they would disappear for multiple weeks, leaving behind huge piles of rubble in our yard. We would complain to Mark multiple times for weeks before it was removed. We had a pile of pea gravel, 6' wide & long & 4' high right beside our driveway, spilling into the driveway & sidewalk for over 5 months. All thewhile asking them to remove it. This whole project had a draw schedule for payment which, from day one was never followed. Every time we were asked for more money, it was presented as a situation of, 'we can't move forward without it & as soon as we get it, we will make huge progress '...the progrss never happened. Then, a year later with only $3000 left on the job, which is to be paid after we pass final inspection & the job is complete; the stone work is not complete, the room is not complete, & the patio & pergola have not even been started. At this point, we are ready to higher someone else to finish the jobs. Christmas of 2019, Mark promised the room would be done by New Years. I was not. After we fired them, we were left with a room with failed framing permit & failed electric permit. We've had to hire an engineer, electrician, & 3 other separate companies to fix & finish what Legacy messed up. We are now paying out 1/2 again as much as the total original cost of the job to get it fixed. I contacted a lawyer today to start the process of litigation & the lawyer had already taken action against Legacy on behalf of another of their customers & informed me that Legacy has filed bankruptcy. read more

RUN...don't walk....RUN from Mark Spencer and Legacy Door and Window. Mark Spencer with Legacy Window and Door is by far the biggest liar and crook I have ever met. I have flipped entire neighborhoods, built dozens of homes, remolded several multi century homes and I have NEVER HAD SUCH A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AS I DID WITH MARK!! Mark Spencer with Legacy Window and Door presents better than the average contractor and bids very low but those are the only positive attributes Mark Spencer has. Mark Spencer with Legacy Window and Door did not deliver the doors I ordered for replacement on time which set several other projects behind. After WEEKS of calls and text messages I am told the doors have finally been manufactured and are at the suppliers but that because Mark Spencer with Legacy Window and Door under bid the cost of the doors they are going be $$$ more...I honestly forget the amount but that really doesn't matter because I have the estimate/contract. Mark Spencer gives me a sob story about cancer and being over whelmed and distracted...oh well so sorry...not my problem. Then Mark Spencer holds my doors hostage unless I pay the difference to the supplier. WTH...Mark Spencer is a rude, aggressive, lying business man that I wanted out of my home and my life as quickly as possible. So I contacted the supplier and paid the remaining balance that Mark Spencer was unwilling to after Mark Spencer with Legacy Window and Door had written a low ball estimate that Mark Spencer could not stand behind. I requested a Saturday delivery so that I can be available and have them placed in my garage since now we have to wait for other projects to be finished before the doors can go in. Well Mark Spencer arranges the delivery with the supplier and they are delivered while I am not home and just left leaning against the outside wall of my garage. Now I have to figure out how to protect them for the next week since they were dropped off with the interior side facing the elements until we can install...but wait...where are the screens? There are no screens because nothing is ever complete with Mark Spencer with Legacy Window and Door. I contact Mark Spencer several times regarding the missing screens and was told some very creative stories...might be a positive attribute to some but is just pissing me off now. So after weeks of no screens, lies from Mark Spencer or no responses I call my credit card company to dispute payment....THAT got a response. Several angry voicemails, emails and text messages, thank goodness this liar does not have a brain because Mark Spencer leaves a trail of bad business choices that make a case very easy to prove. Amazing within days of the payment dispute the screens are finally delivered...you guessed it...left propped outside the garage. Mark Spencer NEVER did install the screens as promised in emails and text messages. Within a week of ordering the doors, before I knew what a liar and crook Mark Spencer with Legacy Window and Door was I ordered all new windows for my home. Mark Spencer, after all had incredible bids!! I was told by Mark Spencer that the windows would be installed within 4-6 weeks in the estimate/contact written by Mark Spencer with Legacy Window and Door. LONG story short...I ordered the windows in May of 2019...called, emailed and text for months and months...finally disputed payment on the credit card in October 2019....I still can not get an install date...tell him the contract is null and void for breach. Then Mark Spencer really shows his true character. Mark Spencer did everything he could to threaten and intimidate me; tried to hide behind small print in his laughable estimate/contract, called me a thief and threatened to rip the doors out of my home, put a lien on my home and sue me. I eventually decide to see what the windows even look like so Mark Spencer arranges for me to go see the windows...Mark Spencer is willing to just let me have the windows at cost...just go see how beautiful they are. They are beautiful windows and there taped to them was the delivery invoice with a date in October 2019...SHOCKING...laughable. I arrange to pay the supplier because Mark Spencer's name is worthless there...they know what a crook Mark Spencer with Legacy Window and Door is. I get the windows delivered and Mark Spencer feels so badly and wants to make it right Mark Spencer is going to have them installed them perfectly and make this right so I don't think Mark Spencer is a piece of $hit. After 2 days of Mark Spencer trying to do the job himself, I am guessing because nobody wants to work for Mark Spencer, and getting only 1 window in correctly, he brings in somebody else that does a $HIT job just slamming them in place. Then come to find out Mark Spencer took a picture of that ONE window he stalled that looked decent and posted on Instagram!! What a piece of work Mark Spencer with Legacy Window and Door is!!! I had Legacy replace the old windows in my 60 year-old house with new energy efficient windows. The owner Mark personally installed the windows with help from one of his installers Bill. Mark did not overstate how good the end product would look. The finished job far exceeded my expectations. The new windows and window trim look great! A Legacy of lies, harassment, and lost money! I had contacted Mark Spencer, owner of Legacy Window & Door, to create an opening and install a window in my home. After taking a 50% deposit and missing his installation date, his crew finally arrived weeks later at my home to do work. They did not have many of the needed supplies. Instead of apologizing, Mark tells me I owe him an additional $800 for bricks. I had told him I needed bricks when we originally discussed the project as it was obvious we would need more. He had already violated his contract and wasted my vacation days with delays. I refuse to give him additional money and tell him to refund me the money for my deposit of $2250. On top of that, his installation crew brings a small child into my home who is playing inside of my home (WTF?!) and unsupervised around my property (I live on a corner lot...not safe for an unsupervised child). He refused to refund me despite breaching his contract (he missed the start date, he missed the completion date, his crew did not clean up and had left supplies all over my home and yard, and he did not provide all the supplies needed for installation). His crew never lifted a hammer. They dropped off incomplete supplies, walked around my home/rugs with muddied shoes taking measurements, and left when they realized they didn't have everything they needed. I later went and purchased the brick myself and the total cost was less than $50. He had demanded $800 for bricks before he would send his crew back. He then lies and accused me of being racist against his workers (I'm from and immigrant family and also luckily have a home surveillance system). He sent me abusive and threatening text messages. Texts that included everything from me being from a 'sh*thole country' to threatening me with a lien/lawsuit if I post a review or report his company. He attempted to extort me for more money with threats of multiple liens (he wanted an additional $2700, more than the entire contract amount). I reported Mark and his company to the Better Business Bureau. I provided the BBB with evidence of these rude comments and his false claims. As of today, Legacy Window & Doors no longer has BBB accreditation. Mark continues to threaten me with a lawsuit. He is threatening to put a lien on my home. I even had to call the police to finally get him to stop harassing me. Steer clear. Search the Indiana court case website and you will see how many times he and his company have been named in a lawsuit. I wish I knew all of this before I signed a contract with him. On January 30, 2012, we entered into an agreement with Mark Spencer of Legacy Windows to install a room addition with grilling overhang to include 5 triple pane sliding windows with screens, a 6' triple pane sliding door, 2 trapezoid glass windows and 2 sidelights. Roofing and siding was included. Total project was $18,680. The windows and door were all triple pane glass, low E glazing on two panes, two dead air spaces with Argon Gas fill. According to the contract, the warranties cover everything including glass breakage, seal failure and transfer one time as well as labor. On April 22, 2020, we contacted Mark Spencer of Legacy Windows to report that the glass on the stationary panel of the patio door was broken and that we needed it replaced. Our original purchase of the room addition from Legacy Windows included full warranties on parts and labor to include glass breakage, seal failure, and transfer one time. He asked me to e-mail him pictures of the broken pane which I did. After not hearing anything for over 3 weeks, we called and left a message. On May 27, 2020, we received an email from Mr. Spencer indicating he was meeting with the rep "today" and wanted to be sure he had the information for the door. I responded with the information from the sticker which showed the serial number. He said that was perfect. Interim telephone calls were made with Mr. Spencer approximately every 2 to 3 weeks to check on the status of the replacement of the door panel. He indicated delays were with the manufacturer. Called on July 3, 2020, left a message. No reply call. On July 22, 2020, he emailed us again asking for pictures of the stickers on the door. I sent him copies of those stickers. Called August 10, 2020 and talked to Mr. Spencer. He said he was having trouble getting the company to identify the product for replacement. Called again August 17, 2020 and left a message. On August 18, 2020, I received an email from Mr. Spencer stating he "just about got this resolved." He needed two items-- a copy of a utility bill with my name and address on it showing home ownership. He also needed a copy of the original contract because his office moved and he could not locate the document. I sent him all the documents. I called again August 24, 2020. Mr. Spencer said that the pane should be ready for delivery and installation on September 4 but that he would verify on September 2. I followed up with an email on September 2 to check on the status of the door since he said he planned to have it to install on September 4. No reply. I called on September 4 to find out what time they expected to be out to install replacement and had to leave a message. He responded by e-mail later on September 4 that he did not receive the panel and will find out more "today" about where it's at. We called again on September 9 and had to leave a message. Later on September 9, he emailed that he was still waiting on the panel. He further stated he was closing the company and would be doing something else. We e-mailed asking for the name of the company he was dealing with so we could follow up on why the delay with the panel since it had now been nearly 5 months. On September 10, Mr. Spencer provided the name of Alside but no phone number. He said they had an office in Indianapolis on Minnesota. I searched online and found a number for that office, but was referred to different sections of the company elsewhere. The final contact was with the warranty department. Since we did not have a claim number, they searched our order via our address and did not locate any claim for replacement. They recommended we initiate the claim process on their website. We then called Mr. Spencer to get the claim number, but now the voicemail was full. We e-mailed Mr. Spencer for the information but no response yet. Horrible experience with this business and it's owner. We love our windows, but I can honestly say other than dealing with AT&T I haven't had a worse experience with a business. Took quite a while to get the windows in and when he did it was even longer for him to get people back out to fix all the issues with the installation. The biggest problem though was the lack of communication. He'd say he was going to call or someone from his office would call and they didn't. It took 4 months to get the problems with the aluminum wrap fixed and I had house painters waiting to paint that I couldn't schedule because I could never get him to tell me when someone would be here to fix it or he'd say someone was coming and then they wouldn't show. Call someone else to have your windows and doors installed. I would say a no star rating except that I like the windows we got! read more

This guy is a crook, a liar and, without question, the most unethical person I have ever known. Began work on a 1 room addition in October 2018 and 15 months later the room was only 60% complete. We finally contracted with another company to complete the project. The number of documented lies we have is absolutely staggering. DO NOT CONTRACT WITH MARK SP****R OR LEGACY WINDOW & DOOR. I recently heard he moved form his Range Line Rd. location to another Carmel location and perhaps opened under another company name. Legacy installed a patio door for our family home. The installers were clean and courteous. Mark (the owner) also gave me really good advice on the types of replacement windows I will need in the future. Our current windows are rotting wood and they gave us a quote on replacement that was less than the other quotes we received from Bee, and Marvin. When we decide to replace our windows we want to work with a company we know and Legacy is a great choice. read more

His team of contractors were so very professional, punctual, and great at what they do. Not only was our addition done in a timely fashion but it's exactly what we were looking for.
