When we picked him up they said he "bumped" his head on a piece of wood on the obstacle course and he had a small scratch, but they cleaned it up and said he was fine. We didn't think anything of it, unfortunately assuming they were caring dog lovers like our family and friends. Fred has long, thick black fur so it wasn't obvious to us right away as we were literally dealing with the aftermath of cleaning out our basement from 18 inches of water. A day and a half later we realized Fred was very sensitive to any touching of his head. We immediately took him in to the vet. We were then told by Eastman Animal Hospital that there was no way he bummed his head on wood and that this was from a piece of sheet metal or a large screw. They also informed us that Fred should have been taken to the vet that same day and gotten stitched up. Since it was beyond 24 hours it was too late for stitches and we were in for a long healing process. At this time we went back to Dog Haven and told them what we had found out about Fred. We simply requested payment for the vet bill or a refund for Fred's stay with them. Their response was more astounding than their initial down play of the injury to begin with. The owner said they would refund nothing or help with the cost of Fred's vet bill and proceeded to tell me that I was negligent for not taking Fred to the vet that day with complete arrogance. We have been steadily watching over Fred to ensure he heals properly but when we were told a long healing process we had no idea just how long it would be. We are now 5 weeks from the initial "bump" and we're told he needs surgery. This isn't about the money, this is our dog who is a loving part of our family. Please share this post with your family and friends to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else's dog!

We've had behavioral issues with our feline in the past... they worked with us not only by appointment, but calling over the phone at all random times as well. They've suggested natural remedies or items from pet stores to buy. To me, that means they aren't looking at the bottom dollar with how many drugs they can push on your animals. When I lived in another city, they allowed me to keep my feline there all day until I was able to pick her up after work with little to no charge. Both vets have a comforting way about them that leave my pets as calm as can be in a stressful situation. Before leaving the office, they make sure all questions have been answered. They are straight forward, because like the advocate we are for our pets, they also are working to keep them healthy. There have been times when I've left and thought my butt was handed to me... but that's simply because it was needed at that time (I have a pretty fat cat who will become unhealthy if I don't take action). They care. So far so good!!

Our cat was declining in health. We were able to meet e vet snd drop off for care. When we picked up the cat the vet was not present. We had yo request someone to go over the chart with us. This was in no November. I called yesterday for help. Again very snarky. I was actually referred to go see a vet at a animal hospital to assist in s passing. No referral names were given. We found a new vet. Thank goodness.

As afternoon approached and No Phone Call I decided to call back. The person answering the phone informed me Tara was out to lunch but she would let her know that I had called. Well needless to say I never received a phone call. Even to say "Sorry we cant see the kitten". Now I ask you, is this any way to run a business let alone a veterinary clinic. This certainly made me think about whether I want my rescue and my personal pets to continue going there.

We came to check it out first and the staff was really helpful. There was only one other cat there and it wasn't too noisy. However, when we dropped them off, the volume of animals in the facility doubled so the environment was completely different, but it was too late for us to change boarding plans. I don't think it was well suited for cats because cats typically don't get along with other cats and there were several staying there at once, plus 3 that constantly wander around. It's also very noisy there with the dog kennels being nearby. When we picked them up, we were surprised to see 2 small dogs in the cat room as well who were barking and making noise. It's a very stressful environment for cats and we noticed negative behavior changes in ours once we came home. However, the staff was really friendly and sent us photos of our cats upon request while we were out of town. The check-in/checkout process was seamless. They administered oral medication to one of our cats and kept with their feeding schedule. I do wish the facility was more accommodating for cats (quiet area, separate from dogs and other cats), but this isn't a bad option.
