2024 UPDATE. In April 2022 I brought my puppy here. When I went to pick her up, I was told by the front desk that her toe is bleeding a little and they think she caught it in the fencing. They brought her out and she would not put any weight on her back right leg. I took her straight to out vet. Her exam and Xrays showed abrasions on her inner right back leg and a fractured tibia. The Xrays were sent to a surgeon who said she needed immediate surgery. They did not call me to tell me she was injured, but instead let me know when I picked her up. They clearly didn't check her over well or watch her or take care of her to miss abrasions and her leg fracture. They half responded to emails from me, have been rude, and taken the stance of not responsible and don't ask us questions. We paid for our puppy to be watched, yet no one can tell us what happened and none of their cameras caught the incident. The one camera, that I know of, that would have shown her hopping on three legs, with an employee present, was not saved and recorded over. Our pup has had to have THREE surgeries and we are over ten thousand in costs. She cannot jump like a normal dog and only uses three of her legs to go up and down steps. read more

Windy acres always does a great job watching lit Golden Doodle. Love that they give her a bath!

We have used Windy Acres to board our Golden retrievers for over 17 years now. We have lived in other places and have had experience with other kennels along the way as well. This is the only place we have used that bathes the dogs at end of the stay without charging additional. Our dogs are tired when they come home along with potty & drinking adjustments; this happens with every kennel we have sent them to and even when we have had them stay with other friends and family. It's not a normal home routine and at a kennel there are more dogs and a variety of dogs and their personalities in the air. We appreciate the facilities and offerings Windy Acres provides. We choose to board our dogs there when our location and the need allows. read more

I wish I would have saw the negative reviews before taking my dog to this kennel. He came back stressed and smelled terrible. He are like he hadn't been fed in days which is unusual for him. The worst were the injuries to his snout and both front legs. The workers were nice when we interacted is the only reason to give them one star. Beware. read more

I just wanted to write a review of our experience because I see negative reviews and I don't agree at all. I also noticed they are old reviews and Windy Acres deserves a current review. I realize most people who are happy, say nothing. People who feel differently are fast to report anything they feel slighted on. I'm not one of those people. I sometimes leave reviews only when I'm blown away by businesses ethics, service and care. We tried Windy Acres to board our 13year old, blind multipoo and our young red lab. We were leaving the country for 10 days. They made accommodations to keep the two dogs next to each other, yet in their own kennel. During the stay, my multipoo was not well and stopped eating. They took the extra attention and made her chicken and moved her to a quiet, safe place. She did not show improvement and they took our Multipoo to our own vet in our hometown, not the closest. They got in contact with our emergency contact. They were able to get to the vet ASAP to find out she was in kidney failure and neurological failure. My sweet girl passed away in my family members' arms. Windy Acres and staff made good, fast decisions. They tried what they could and took immediate action when needed. I wanted to pay them extra for this special care. The reply I received was that there was no extra charge, this is just the care that was needed on their watch. I will use them forever moving forward. The lab was in dog utopia, I was told and she sure was! It is extremely comforting to know my sweet Lucy did not pass in a kennel alone. She was with family she knew well. I have never had a kennel take such good care and make the best decisions before. I fully recommend Windy Acres if you want the best care. It was Christmas week that this happened and there was such extra attention during a busy time. They also could have written off my Lucy's not eating because of the environment. They took no risks and noticed this immediately and got her the best care. Thank you, thank you Windy Acres for going well above and beyond. Wonderful family owned small business. I've entrusted them to care for my beloved pets for 30 years. We feel so comfortable being able to travel knowing windy acres staff taking such great care of our dogs. Just returned from visiting the grandkids and our pets were so happy, smelled great. Didn't want to go home with us. They love them kennel girls. Our dogs get to excited Just coming down the road when they know they're coming to Windy Acres. Let me echo the previous review, which I wish I had read before boarding my dog over the Thanksgiving holiday. We picked her up dirty and smelly, and took her the same day to get a wash and a cut. She had a sore from sitting in her urine, and feces dried on her butt. There were also obvious behavioral problems probably from being left in her kennel without a break. Look for boarding anywhere else. read more

I've used this kennel for about 10 years with three different dogs I've owned during that time. I have always felt confident leaving my dogs here. The staff are attentive and will accommodate special requests (such as walk outs for potty breaks, medications, and feedings with multiple ingredients). Walks, swim time, and play time do cost extra, but that's standard with any kennel. I appreciate that they provide food, bedding, and a bath. My dogs have always come home clean. Boarding is stressful for dogs no matter what. If I've ever had any concerns, the owner has talked with me about those and made suggestions for working best with my dog. A couple of times I've had my plans change and needed to cancel reservations or extend a stay. This has never been a problem and there are no penalties. I recommend Windy Acres. read more

I wish I could give less than one star. My dog came home covered in urine. I have already dissuaded a few friends from using their boarding services for their dog. Imagining my poor dog, clearly not being let out to use the bathroom, and getting covered in urine from herself and/or other dogs breaks my heart. I wish someone would have told me this before we boarded our dog at Windy Acres, although a tip-off would have been that you are charged extra if you want them to interact with your dog. So - learn from my mistake. Find another facility to board your dog, and pay attention to online reviews. Check Google Reviews as well. We will never come back here, and I am encouraging you avoid them as well. read more

I was very unhappy with our first experience with boarding at Windy Acres Kennels. I would not recommend them and I will not be using their services again. When I made the reservation for my dog I was told that they feed the dogs Purina dog chow, but that you have the option of bringing your dogs regular food with them if you prefer. I explained that my dog has a lot of allergies and is very sensitive to food changes, so I would be bringing his food with him. I dropped him off with almost exactly the amount of food he should have been fed during his stay. When we picked him up, almost none of his food had been used. So either they were not feeding him, or they were feeding him their food, which I had stressed not to do. The first night he was back home, he had severe diarrhea in my house. He was lethargic and obviously not feeling well. I also had taken a bone and some toys for him to use while he was there. They never even took them out of the package. So my poor dog was sick and bored the whole time he was there. I called and requested to speak to the manager/ owner to let them know about my concerns and I was told they were not available, so I left my information for them to call me back. It has been over a week and I have not received a call. To top it all off, my dog contracted Kennel Cough while being there and came home and gave it to our other elderly dog. Another thing I wanted to point out is that it seems the place is run by teenagers who obviously don't take their job very seriously. I have never had a problem with Windy Acres kennel they are absolutely fabulous there. My dogs not only are kenneled there when ever I am out of town but, but my two dogs are also being trained there and their behavior has significantly improved and have learned so much. As for the other reviews I am unsure of their experience but my dogs are freshly bathed before they come home and enjoy their experience there. 10/10 would go to this kennel again. read more

Utterly filthy. We left our perfectly housebroken dogs there over the weekend, and they were returned to us absolutely REEKING of urine - so badly, in fact, that my wife and I nearly vomited on our 20-minute drive home. We then spent 50 minutes bathing them because they both needed multiple baths. We've let our dogs run in the woods before, and occasionally one or the other of them has rolled in deer dropping or found some mudhole somewhere - but even those episodes required less bathing on our part than what we had to do after they stayed here. It is impossible to believe that they were allowed out of their indoor kennel 5-6 times a day (as claimed), or that they were given time in the outdoor swimming lake (which we paid for) unless that lake is equally disgusting. That you have to pay extra for your dogs to receive any human interaction should have tipped us off, but our normal dog boarder was unavailable and so we had to scramble for a last-minute alternative.
