A Caution About Leftover Treasures Estate Sales I feel a responsibility to share my experience with Leftover Treasures Estate Sales, in hopes that others can avoid the costly mistake I made. While I understand that buying secondhand items carries some risk, there is a difference between "sold as-is" and misrepresentation l- and I believe that line was clearly crossed in my case. I purchased a refrigerator through one of their estate auctions for $600. It was advertised as being in "immaculate condition" and "working perfectly." Before placing a bid, I even took the extra step of calling the owner, Phillip, to confirm its condition. I had noticed the refrigerator had been listed in two separate auctions and wanted to know why the first sale hadn't gone through. He assured me the previous bidder backed out due to a housing issue and that the appliance had passed a "diagnostic" and was in excellent working order. Trusting his word, I won the bid and arranged professional movers and a hydraulic lift truck to bring the refrigerator home. The move was less than four minutes from the estate to my house, and the unit was transported upright and with care. Despite this, the refrigerator never turned cold. The electricity worked, but the appliance clearly did not function. When we brought it inside and plugged it in, it was immediately clear something was wrong. The appliance was not cold- not even the freezer. Given the short four-minute trip from the estate, the freezer compartment should have retained some cold if it had recently been running, but it was completely warm from the start. There was no residual cool air, no melting frost, and no signs of recent use- despite the owner Phillip's repeated claims that it had been running "up until the day of the auction." I attempted to reach Phillip immediately - via phone, text, and email - but received no response for days. When he finally replied, it was close to his closing time and one day after the former homeowners had moved out of state so there was no way to return to the owners. His tone was dismissive. He denied any responsibility and offered a series of excuses, suggesting we must have damaged it during the move. I calmly explained that we had used professional equipment and that he himself had helped load it onto his appliance dolly. At every turn, I had a reasonable, documented response. Frustrated, we had two separate repair professionals inspect the unit- one from LG and one independent technician. Both confirmed the refrigerator had a broken compressor, a Freon leak, and a damaged condenser. They also noted that the inner working components, specifically the cooling coils, were caked in thick layers of dust and grime, in sharp contrast to the seller's description of it being "immaculate." Both professionals also independently confirmed that the damage was consistent with age and wear- not poor handling or a rough move. Their repair estimates came in at $1,000 and $1,300 -- more than the cost of the fridge itself. Both technicians even chuckled at the idea that this appliance had been "working perfectly" just minutes before we received it. What's most disappointing isn't just the money lost, it's the utter lack of accountability. I would have been more than satisfied with a partial refund, a shared cost of repairs, or even a genuine effort to make things right. Instead, I was met with silence and deflection. This was not the first time I've received broken or incomplete items from this company, but it is certainly the most financially damaging. In the past, I let smaller issues slide- empty boxes, broken pieces in "bundled" lots- but this experience made it clear that this business operates on a "buyer beware" model with little concern for ethical responsibility. To rub salt in the financial wound, I let Phillip know that that $600 was significant for me as my spouse had recently become permanently disabled, and we were operating on a very limited single income. To even make the leap to spend that money required me to make sacrifices elsewhere in my budget. And in retrospect, I now realize that it is unlikely that the first buyer backed out because of a housing issue. As someone who tries to approach situations with fairness and patience, I'm disheartened. I placed trust in this business based on their own words and representations. That trust was misplaced. I urge future customers to proceed with extreme caution. "Sold as-is" should not be a free pass for dishonesty. read more

This business is an absolute scam and extremely unprofessional. Be very cautious, as our neighbor hired them to auction their items. They literally walked over to our property and stole our water fountain and sold it for a quick buck. When approached and asked why they trespassed our property- the man was very rude and disrespectful. We ended up calling our local police to resolve the issue. Unethical people- very uncivil. Think twice people before hiring or you may have to deal with the legal aspects, as in our situation. read more

Scam. Lie on listings. Do not buy on their online auctions! I have never done an estate sale auction and knew it would be risky. I have learned my lesson and this company will never have my business again. I have been to their in person estate sales which were fine. Standard. Online auction says they will post issues/flaws/negatives noted in photos or title. Lies. I ended up winning 3 quilts. 2 stated to be queen size. 1 king size. All hand stitched. No issues in photos or titles stated. 1 quilt I get has edges ripped and fraying. Fabric with holes all over and it is machine quilted. Not hand stitched. Also not queen size. I now see they posted the photos using a twin bed for size. Not a queen. Deceptive. It's 72" by 78". Barely goes to the edge of the queen bed. 1 quilt is hand stitched and appliquéd. But as I'm searching I see a frayed tag attached from a box store. Made in China. They implied this was a handmade quilt. Not a mass produced machine made item. It was stated to be queen size as well. Barely goes to the edge. It's a twin size quilt. The only quilt that was truthful was the hand stitched king size grandmas garden quilt. There were no issues stains or rips on that one. I sell online and I know how to list things accurately and honestly with good customer service. I also won 7 other items, which he refused to give them to me, in spite that I already paid for all of them a day earlier, which means that at the time of the pickup I was the owner of the 8 items, but he could care less. I have been in many auctions, on and offline and I have never experienced the lack of professionalism, respect for a client. This guy makes his own rules to his convenience. A seller agrees to sell the items to the higher bidder, agreeing or not to the price. The sale goes to the higher bidder. Online you have 16 seconds from the last bid, which is obvious he didn't apply either. This company did not follow any of the rules, he just did what he pleased without any consideration to the highest bidder. I bit there is a 5 star posting after my postings. I would like to place a zero star with this experience. read more

I went to an estate sale yesterday and they were asking $100 for a straw hat and $350 for a dirty wall rug. Talk about greed. If you're looking for piece of mind while going through the loss of a loved one. Phillip of leftover treasures, was so informative and professional especially after meeting with several other companies, who don't even offer a fraction of his services. His process is very simple and flexible. Since I was coordinating with other siblings. They come in assess everything there and give you detailed out comes for an estate sale, auction, or consignment. He is very focused on making as much revenue as possible. At the end of the sale he called and advised what was left. Which wasn't much! The remaining items were consigned to their warehouse. After the sale was done. In less than 24 hours we had a check and a sales report in hand. The report was handy since we had to give it to probate court. Most companies we talked too were a little gray on this. Generally it was between 15 to 30 days to get a check or cash... His services even extended beyond the estate sale. He put us directly in touch with an real estate broker! That company was amazing too! The home sold 13 days! Truth be told this home was a "hoarder" home. And was very overwhelming to even think of dealing with, especially when we live out of state. Before the sale. Leftover treasures had a big dumpster and filled it up twice! When I arrived Monday the home was completely empty. I could not believe the transformation! I highly recommend Phillip of leftover treasures if he and his team can handle a scenario this complex. I assure your situation well be no problem for them. read more

Sorry, but Every sale I've patronized presented rude or at least, unhelpful people working there. They're not interested in making money for estate owners- even on the last day of the sale at closing time! They'd rather get irritated and act rude when you're making decent offers. We contacted several estate liquidators but found Phillip to be the right fit. He does on sight estate sales as well as off site estate liquidation which is the route we chose. The process took approximately 60 days, from picking up the items from the estate to them selling. Although he is sometimes hard to reach he did a very careful job in packing and transporting the items. read more
