My partner and I recently fostered a dog named Max through Regional Animal Services of King County,…read moreand unfortunately our experience ended in a way that has been extremely difficult and upsetting. We first encountered Max months earlier while showing a home to clients. He appeared severely underweight and in poor condition, so we contacted Regional Animal Services to request a wellness check. The owners ultimately surrendered him, and wanting to help, we later signed up to become foster volunteers so we could give him a chance to recover in a safe home. During the week Max lived with us, we experienced him as a very sweet and gentle dog. As he began to settle in, his personality really started to come out. He loved going on walks and would wiggle with excitement when he saw his leash. He also got along well with our resident dog and showed no signs of aggression in our home. When Max developed signs of an ear infection, we contacted the shelter and were asked to bring him in for a veterinary visit. Upon entering the shelter, Max clearly became nervous. And during that visit an incident occurred, and he was placed into quarantine. We were later informed that due to his decline while in quarantine, the decision was made to euthanize him. This outcome has been heartbreaking for us. We stepped forward to foster Max because we believed he deserved a chance to heal and eventually find a loving home. In the short time he was with us, he showed us a kind and affectionate personality that we will never forget. While we respect that shelters must sometimes make difficult decisions, the way this situation unfolded has left us feeling deeply saddened and frustrated. We wish there had been more communication and consideration of the dog we experienced in our home before things escalated to this outcome. Because of how this experience was handled, we have made the difficult decision that we will no longer volunteer or foster through this organization. Max deserved compassion, patience, and careful evaluation. We will always remember the sweet dog who came into our home and quickly became part of our daily lives. He deserved the opportunity to continue healing and experiencing the love he had just begun to find. See more of Max here:

They have put a lot of thought into providing the best care for dogs; music in the kennel room, private rooms for dogs that need them, prioritizing special needs dogs getting into foster homes and out of the kennel environment They even go above and beyond by spending time training dogs and puppies in their agility room. Their social media pages follow a few of the same dogs which just shows the dedication the members at Homeward have to maximizing the amount of people to see their adoptable pups. The quality and the passion truly show at Homeward. I am grateful for my dog and the people that took such good care of him at Homeward when he was there.

I've been to several shelters in the past year to adopt and it's been up and down. I went here on a Saturday after work and brought home my fur ever baby girl. I'm a proud happy fur mom . This is the happiest day of my life . I cried so many tears of joy when I was able to adopt my new female dog. I named her Sasha. Previously known as Oldsmobile. Sasha is the absolute sweetest girl ever. Sasha is what my heart needed. As a puppy she is very smart. Introducing to crate has been fairly well. Eating wow this girl can eat, run, do sprints around the house, yard and is super excited. I am too lol. Potty training is going very well in the morning she wakes me up with kisses to say she has to go and stands by door we go out. We have a routine. Totally recommend Homeward Per adoption to everyone. You will never be disappointed. The accept donations from you if your pet has passed away, been surrendered or you just want to donate, food, toys, supplies for dogs and cats. Well, I could continue to give praises all day. Gotta go mommy duty is calling.

While the groom itself looked fine, my dog was cut near his private area and this was not disclosed to me. My dog is very reactive -- there is no way this injury went unnoticed. The groomers requested I bring him in so the vet can take a look at th grooming injury and for me to be eligible for a refund. He was prescribed both a topical and oral antibiotic that he needs to be on for 2 weeks. This was presented as them "making it right," even though the visit was necessary solely due to their mistake. When I requested my refund, I was initially offered only $20 on a $140 grooming bill. After insisting, they agreed to a full refund -- and then immediately removed me as a client, meaning I now must also find a new vet as well. There was no empathy, accountability, or concern shown for my dog's wellbeing. Since the incident, my dog has been uncomfortable, wearing a cone, refusing to use the bathroom, and barely eating. I've had to rearrange my schedule and miss work to care for him. Mistakes happen. But how a business responds to them matters -- and this response was unacceptable.

Each time they were confused by what I asked to have done, saying that it was booked incorrectly, by the previous employee, obviously not knowing what each employee was doing. My husband took our German Shepherd girl in, they spent 10 minutes on her, didn't do half of the items that I asked to be done, charged 55 bucks, and refused a full refund. Instead, they created their own package, slapped a price on it, and did what they wanted to do. Not what the customer asked & paid for. We made an appointment, got an email, got a text message, and they made him wait as a walk-in, instead I'm giving him the appointment he had made. I called to speak to the assistant manager, she was dismissive, argumentative and rude. Our dog was traumatized. Her stomach was shaved bald, yet they didn't bother to rake out her fur, only spending 15 minutes for a list of grooming items needing to be done. She had a wonderful groomer, before we moved, and has never behaved this way. She was scared when she came out of that room. Reber Ranch is not what it used to be. They are unprofessional, disorganized, argumentative, and dismissive. With the behavior of my dog, I am considering calling the authorities, for this facility.

I had a Schnauzer before Shotzie and didn't know about then. Had I, Grover would have gone there too. It had been awhile since needing grooming services, so just went to a groomer someone told us about. We were horrified after picking her up, they had nicked her in so many places we actually took her to the vet. It was our vet who recommended Diane. Shotzie was a regular client of Diane's until she passed in 2000. As I then had beagles, I had no need for a groomer. After losing both of our beagles in the same year, 09, my husband and I needed to wait to select a new pet. We finally adopted what we thought was a Schnauzer mix from a no kill shelter in Yakima, WA. While he appeared to have some characteristics of one, we were curious enough to have his DNA done. Turned out he is a Cockapoo!! We live very close to a Petco so had him groomed there, as well as Obedience Training, and training as a Good Citizen, acknowledged by AKC. To get to the point, this past Halloween, 2014, Georgie awoke us about 2am, seemingly not feeling well. We calmed him back to sleep, but he woke us up about 4am in yelping pain. We had never seen him be this way and realized he needed to be seen immediately. Long story short, three vets, 24 + hours, and a $6,500.00 surgery, he had ruptured a disc and was paralyzed in his hind quarters. After several weeks, he really needed grooming, not just for looks, but to make keeping him as clean as possible. We have to express his bladder for him and bladder infection's can cause serious complications. I had gone to our local Mud Bay to get his food, along with recommended supplements by his vet. While there I saw one of Diane's Adorable Dogs cards on their bulletin board. I was beyond ecstatic, as in his new condition, while not having any bad experiences with Petco, didn't feel they had the experience needed to groom a handicapped dog. Rather than calling, I stopped in to say "hey!" To Diane. My goodness, it was like finding a long lost cousin! I explained our circumstances and asked if she was up for the challenge. While having some concerns, she agreed to take a look. We took him in a few days later. Normally, she doesn't have owners stay. Georgie has always had some separation anxiety but it's worse now, so she had us stand by in the car in case we were needed. And we were. So while we helped hold him steady for her, she asked a lot of questions regarding how much we wanted him trimmed as she went. Being part poodle, he definitely has poodle hair!! We had her cut him really short, particularly on his face and stomach. She was so caring and gentle with Georgie. It was such a great experience. She also gave us some tips and suggestions for other needs for him. No pun here, but we absolutely ADORE Diane!! She is just as great as she was those many years ago. We without hesitation will continue to take Georgie to her as long as she will have us!!!!! If there was ten star option, we would give her that!!!!!
