Matt came over and measured everything out and gave us an estimate. Very fair! No need to negotiate. Everything was done in a very timely manner and Matt's team of guys did a great job cleaning up after themselves. During the demo of the back patio it was brought to our attention that there was a very large extended hole/cave, for lack of a better word, underneath our sunroom. Matt said no worries he could take care of it and fill it in with more concrete. Of course it changed the price but I felt very confident that if this happened with another company it would have really bumped up the price or I would have had to call another company, like one of those companies that lift the foundation and have them come in and fix it before work could be completed. We had work done on 2 contracts- 1 for work on pillars to stabilize house shifting and another for…read moresupposedly leveling up driveway to garage lip and front walkway to foundation line. Job 1 (foundation). Workers good guys and by appearances competent to do job, as was the materials used. They had to bring in backhoe for our 6 ft foundation (we live on hillside with springs where houses commonly shift)- I checked on work and it seemed sound. However, they ran day behind and we had to leave when they backfilled and finish that part of job. It had rained previous 2-3 nights and basically they left yard in a mess that will necessitate me bringing in a landscaper to repair (i.e. more than the topsoil disruption they put in contract- dirt clods the size of soccer balls 25 ft away from foundation wall). My recommendation- make absolutely sure you are present to see finished job before you let them leave- I would never have approved the mess they left the yard in. Not really their fault as they were moving mud vs dirt, but they should've left it and came back the next week to finish. Job 2 (driveway and front approach leveling). It turned out this was an unachievable outcome & there is still 2.5 inch "trip" edge between driveway and garage floor. They should never has bid the job. We contested the job as a breach of contract since goal of job not even close to achieved. Gen Mgr came out & agreed. On my threat to taking to small claims court, they refunded me most of cost of that job. Again, they were responsive to my concerns & outcome OK in the end as avoided court hassle. Lesson here: think about what they are proposing is even possible before agreeing to it. The suggestion is that the job solicitors are working on a commission. If you doubt it can be done, it probably can't- have them describe EXACTLY how they will achieve the proposed outcome. Again, no problem whatsoever with the employees- all did their jobs well.

Some of the additional work that was not done properly by them years ago. I wonder how difficult it will be or if they will even honor their warranty. The company was called Complete Basements and Groundworks bought them out and was supposed to honor the warranty. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this company at this point. If they change their service and at least do what they agreed to do then I will update my post.

I got a few quotes, and I decided to work with Homestrong. I worked with Ben to get the quote and coordinate the schedule. He came out to do the measurements and quote, and he was patient in answering all my questions as we did the walk-through. He was also very thorough in answering my follow-up questions about their quote. Homestrong came in with the best price, and as near as I could tell, they were quoting comparable work and materials. I also appreciate that Ben later on consulted with the radon mitigation company that I was working with to make sure the radon system would work well with the encapsulation work. He was knowledgeable about the radon work, too. Jesus G and a co-worker (didn't catch his name) showed up right on time on the day of the work, and they worked hard all day and half of the next day. Jesus was also patient with me and answered my questions throughout the day, and both guys were considerate and flexible. I'm really happy with the work they did. My crawl spaces used to be that part of my house that I avoided, but now I'm much more comfortable with those areas. I don't have a before picture to show, but it was pretty bad in there.

I chose Homestrong on the basis of strong reviews and I thought they did a terrific job. I noticed…read moremoisture coming into our crawl spaces and wanted to get it checked out. Chase came and gave a thorough but fair assessment of what needed to be sealed. One crawlspace was much better than expected and the other crawlspace was much worse than we would have otherwise known. We ended up replacing two sill plates, adding moisture barriers outside that crawl space, and sealing all the interior vents and cracks with foam. They also helped seal some driveway cracks. The estimate was for 4 full days of work. Lalo was the foreman and was really great to work with throughout. He and another worker worked hard each day. Their work was careful, clean, and professional, and I felt like I was in very good hands. Lalo was also very helpful in answering all my questions along the way. The only downsides were that they accidentally clipped the internet line so we lost internet for about a day, but they sent out an electrician to do the repair the next morning. They also damaged and promptly repaired a sprinkler hose but that was no big deal. Importantly, they were very transparent about what happened and took care of the repairs at no extra cost. The foundation work ended up going over by an extra half day to a Saturday, but I was happy that they wanted to do the work well rather than rush the job just to finish "on time." Lalo's boss, Jose, came out separately to do the driveway repair. That work also ended up taking a bit longer than he initially expected. But again I was glad to see that he wanted to get the job done the right way even if it took more time. Foundation repair is always a big investment but I would definitely recommend Homestrong and use them again next time.

The Prostruct team maintained good communications and delivered an excellent set of foundation and…read moreframing plans aligned to the Architect's concepts for a complicated porch extension. The plans included caissons, structural beams and slab, with void-forms to address problems with expansive soils. Despite coming in a bit behind schedule, the Prostruct plans were in such good shape that there were no go-backs or comments from the Building Dept so that the permit issued quickly and work started back on schedule. Prostruct also then supported the caisson and form inspection with the required "Engineer's' Letter." Thanks Prostruct! Well done!

After he failed to find our water main and instead broke the line, he told me that finding it would be impossible. He then recommended putting in a new one and dug a 100 foot trench toward our house. After seeing the overall mess and additional work, I decided to find a different contractor. He charged $3700 and accomplished nothing to get me water to my house. I then hired another excavation contractor who approached the job more directly, dug and found our old water main that had been damaged by the county (the one K2 couldn't or wouldn't look for) repaired the line, restored our water throughout our farm lot and did so for half the money. I wish I had tried this company first. I would have saved the money for a bumbled job.

We hired them to reinforce the foundation where a few years before some tunnels had been dug…read morethrough the soil under the footings to put in some new pipes. This is an old brick house and the footings are several widths of brick laid directly on the soil, not concrete. The reinforcement is to pour some concrete walls under the footings to support them and to stabilize the soil walls of the tunnels. They also poured concrete to stabilize another area where soil had been eroding under the footing. We also had them remove an unused brick planter next to the wall. The estimator, Lance Heimes, did a very thorough study of the area and then carefully described to us the recommended work. Because of his attention to detail and good explanations I had a lot of confidence in his recommendations. The work went smoothly and looks good upon completion. The weak point with this company was communication. I had to call them up to find out when the work was scheduled, and even then we were never sure when the workers would show up. They also sent me the final invoice for the work when the work was only about half-done, rather than upon "substantial completion" as provided in the contract. They did finish the work a day or two later, so it worked out OK, although for a while I was worried that they had forgotten to finish the work.
