WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Terrible customer service. I took my wedding dress to Star Dry Cleaning to be cleaned after my wedding as the guy (Karl) was friendly on the phone and the price was good. I now wish I had paid more and gone with a recommendation. It took over 7 weeks for me to get my dress, bolero and veil back and this was only because I went there and demanded them back in the end. When I dropped the dress off Karl offered to deliver my items back to my house on a certain day in two weeks time. Star Dry Cleaning offer a pick up and delivery service so I thought why not take them up on the offer of delivery. What a mistake. After the dress never turned up on the scheduled delivery day, there followed many texts and phone calls by me chasing my dress. I waited in on numerous days and evenings when I thought we had arranged the delivery but again, they were a no show. Each time the dress didn't turn up I called Karl and often his mobile was switched off or he didn't answer. He would finally reply to my texts a couple of days later. Every time it was a new excuse and inconsistent with the last one. I was amazed at how they could break pre-arranged appointments over and over again. Totally unprofessional. In the end I turned up at the shop and demanded my items back. It took me two visits to get everything back as they first time my veil and bolero were not there but apparently at another shop. It was also disconcerting to find that none of my items were labeled with my name- anyone could have claimed them. When I dropped the dress off I was asked to pay upfront in cash. This advert here says that they accept credit/ debit cards but they do not!! It made me feel uncomfortable to pay in full, in cash upfront but Karl assured me that this was normal. It soon became clear that this meant they had no incentive to deliver the goods back to me. They had their money and there was no rush for them! With regard to the quality of cleaning, it was ok. My dress was clean but creased. My bolero still has marks on it. It got to the point where I didn't even care about the quality of the cleaning job, I just wanted my property back. To me my wedding dress is a very precious item, it was clear that Star Dry Cleaning did not see it as an important job. I am still waiting for Karl to drop off a storage box at my house that he promised last time we spoke I would not recommend Star Dry Cleaning for wedding dress cleaning due to the worry and inconvenience I experienced. read more

Karlos and his partner Rebecca are con artists. The worst customer service I have ever experienced, do not trust them with your wedding dress or anything for that matter. My mum took her dress and shoes in to be cleaned on the 27th November and was told it would be ready mid December. As my mum was going to be on honeymoon until January I gave him my number. Karlos did not get in touch EVER. Beginning of January after going to the shop we were told the dress was at his York shop and would be there on Thursday, he would call. No phone call and no dress by Monday. This is a very long story, Four months in all. I cannot recall how many calls we made which were ignored, he only ever replied by text, he shut his shop when we were due to go see him and he and Rebecca broke around 10 yes 10 delivery appointments between them. My mum got her dress back at the end of March after 4 months of stress and fighting and the dress is filthy and the shoes also. Here's some of the excuses that it took so long. Karlos was ill in hospital, Rebecca had parents evening, Rebecca's daughter was ill, they had run out of boxes, Karlos had an emergency which was more important and family problems. We got a full refund but the dress wasn't cleaned so it wasn't really a refund! Throughout it all they were unapologetic and rude, on several occasions Karlos tried to intimidate us by shouting at us in his shop. Well to say I'm really "OVER THE MOON " would be an understatement , I've just recently moved to Leeds and bought a an old Victorian house and there is carpets and rugs everywhere and they need a really good clean, and as I'm new to the area i didn't know who to call or if any of them if any were any good ; So i asked a my sons school teacher if she knew of anyone and she told me about "STAR" as she called them she said "Oh they have cleaned all 3 of our school buildings and they have cleaned Carpets Curtains and sofas and chairs for the staff . So i gave them a ring after finding them on Google and looked at there website and firstly they came to give a free quote then as i was very happy with the price we booked on for a clean to be done. The day before they were due to come they phoned me and confirmed with me that it was still convenient to come and do the clean and also which I've never had done they told me who was coming ...and it was Steve and the reason I was "over the Moon was that i was bowled over by the customer friendly attitude from this company. When asked by the nice chap in the office if i could write a review i jumped at the chance to as in my experience as a Area Manager for a Large Dept Store customers are very quick to criticize and very slow to praise or recommend when necessary. Just want to say my faith in really nice people with excellent customer attentiveness is truly back after dealing with this company Star Dry Cleaning and the staff there. I own 3 vintage shops in the North of England and i have been looking for a really good dry cleaners and alterations since the one i had been using closed down as they closed 100 of there shops down ;so i was stuck trying to find another one until another vintage shop "Vintage Darling " recommended this really quirky, old school , Fantastic dry cleaners and bespoke alterations . on 1st of October I had 16 Furs cleaned 22 Barbour and Belstaff s re-waxed and 42 dresses cleaned that all had that normal musty vintage smell to them ,So not only did Karl come to house in Otley to pick them all up (free of Charge ) he dropped them off this morning at 9am as arranged i was flabbergasted on the service and but the garments where just fantastic and much more sell-able now they had lost that smell .But the furs and especially the Barbour and Belstaff's were AMAZING the treatments they have done to them was well worth it . Well I have been searching for the last 6 months for a Dry Cleaning Service that would come to our office a couple of times a week as there are 22 Solicitors and Barristers that work from our chambers in the city centre ,We have to be pristine in court and struggle with ,we have tried 2 other ones which were not up much at all kept coming late and with items missing .Then we got recommended by another chambers to start using Star Dry Cleaners on Burley Road in Leeds as they had been servicing there chambers for over a year now and the service was incredible ,Nice people and great service so we stared using them and have been for about 6 weeks weeks now ,They collect Mon ,Wed ,Fri and the services they provide are extremely excellent they are always on time ( Which is paramount to us ) They now do all our dry cleaning ,Ironing And they provide a full Clothing Alteration service .I wanted to leave it for a month or so before i left a review for this company as we had been let down in the past .But if you want Traditional old Fashioned Service with a smile give this company a ring .Thanks very much Star Dry Cleaning Mrs M Walton Leeds City Centre read more

Do NOT use this place!!! Karl is a complete lying crook! I took my wedding dress to this shop at the start of October, was greeted by what seemed to be a friendly man. By Christmas I still hadnt got my dress or shoes back. As January wore on I started to get really concerned and sick of his excuses and out right lies. First my dress was in York?! Then it was in someones car. He even started using the excuse of a sick daughter in the end! When we called up he pretended it wasnt him on the phone and when we went to the shop he hid behind the curtain!!! He promised to drop my dress off 3 times and had us wait in for hours and no dress arrived. It wasnt until we started threatening legal action that my dress arrived bundled in the back of a taxi that we got it back, it was february by now. The dress was more dirty than when I gave it in, the lace up ribbon at the back was missing and my shoes were still filthy, clearly not been touched. DREADFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. Well we have finally received my wife's dress back after weeks of broken assurances, waiting in at home as delivery slots came and went and several visits to the shop. I can only echo the other negative comments below. We got married last year and I am only relieved we did not use Stars for my wife's wedding dress as I don't think we could of coped with the stress. Here is a breakdown of the issues: - took 3 weeks to iron a dress - we waited in for two home delivery appointments that never materialised - they will promise to call you with updates and never do - they will cut your phone call and claim their phone is broken In the end it took constant visits to the shop to get the issue resolved. If your stuck in the same boat as us, then just keep going in to the counter. Do not get fobbed off with tales of broken vans/phones and home deliveries that never materialise. The home delivery promise is clearly just a way for them to buy more time. read more

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DO NOT GO THERE They dont even deserve one star!! I took my wedding dress to star dry cleaning 3 weeks ago to have some alterations done before my wedding in 9 weeks time as I spoke to a guy called Karl who gave me a good quote. Well all I can say is I wish I never took it as not only after having the alterations done is the dress now too tight on me its also got a stain on it and the original buttons that were on it have been replaced by some cheap plastic ones (they were satin cushion buttons originally). So I now have to get it dry cleaned elsewhere and now need to loose about half a stone for it to fit me again. It also took me two weeks and 4 visits to get my dress back cos for some reason everytime I went for it it was at his shop in York!!! I have sent an email to Star Dry Cleaning explaining what has happened and how I feel and what a surpise ive had no reply! read more

NOT RECOMMENDED ! I took some curtains in 3 weeks ago and paid up front for cleaning and alteration. I paid up front ( as required ) and was told that it would take a week and I would be contacted. I wasn't, so I called and was given a delivery date. This was not kept, and in the subsequent time have been given 5 delivery dates, none of which has been met. The person I dealt with, called Karl, eventually stopped talking to me by phone. I have received texts from him and someone called Rebecca ( who I believe is him ) explaining the delays and promising delivery. I have demanded my curtains back but have not received them. This has been exasperating and without doubt the worst business practice I have ever experienced. I am taking legal action against him. read more

Yes its me again quite like this online review that helps others So i thought id try the same Dry Cleaners for my curtains as there was no way i could do them as there was 8 rather long lengths. So i phoned the chap up again and he said not to take them down as they like to do that so when they come to re-hang they know how they have been taken down .They were very expensive curtains and we got them specially made and bought by my parents . Well what a fantastic company I have just had my wedding dress cleaned and boxed . My wedding dress was extremely dirty and ripped at the bottom as it was snowing when I got married . The dress was excellent when I went to the shop as Karl wanted me to come and have a look at the dress before he wrapped and boxed it . Great Dry Cleaners Having recently got married i wanted my wedding dress cleaning. I went to star dry cleaners as they were known for specialising in dry cleaning wedding dresses. I was very pleased with the service as they have a collect and deliver service for free. They came to my house to pick it up out of hours and when i received it back it was beautifully wrapped in an amazing box. Could not ask for more. IT IS A CON. money asked for up front. Plenty of excuses as to why your stuff isn't ready. To add to this, you'll be waiting a long time to get your stuff back as the excuses flow from the managers mouth. Was not happy with result of one item and haven't even got my other item back yet, having been promised that it will be sent to my home. Awful company, quote a decent price to get your business and want paying up front which is odd for a dry cleaners. All becomes clear when your stuff isn't ready when they said it would be and you are just getting fobbed off and ignored.
