I went to Dr. Lee on the recommendation of a friend who had a great gum-grafting experience with him. I had just had a horrific experience with Dr. Gabany in Union Square and was looking for a better periodontist for the second round of surgery.
Dr. Lee isn't in my dental network so I had to pay more out of pocket for his services, and I am so GLAD I did. Dr. Lee is incredibly gentle. I felt no pain at all, and the aftermath isn't bad at all. His tools don't make any awful or scary noises. He is quick, but thorough. He answers all questions patiently, but doesn't volunteer gory details as my previous surgeon did. He placed a sort of gummy "bandage" over the stitches that's like a piece of chewing gum that stays on for a week. It tastes icky, but is so much more comfortable than feeling stitches in your mouth and keeps the area from getting banged accidentally--I so appreciate the extra touch. His receptionist even offers to walk people out the door and down the stairs. The whole office is just very kind and gentle and professional.
I filled the pain medication prescription Dr. Lee gave me and don't even need it! I am not swollen or bruised like I was with Dr. Gabany. In fact, the day after the graft, I feel like I can even work out, although the office said I should not, so I'll hold off. After my Dr. Gabany experience, I couldn't work out for weeks.
Getting a gum graft is not fun. Be kind to yourself and make it as easy and painless as possible by having Dr. Lee do it. I think I have had both the worst and best experiences with different doctors and can't recommend Dr. Lee highly enough. read more
