Michelle, our paint expert, stopped by (on a Saturday, I might add) for an evaluation. She guaranteed the work would get done quickly and efficiently, and immediately contacted her team at the office to fit us in with our preferred start date. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, we settled on December 3rd as the first day of work. Jose and his crew arrived on time. They were polite and transparent about the entire process. Jose asked to see the room so he could assess exactly what needed to be done. They were here for a solid 8 hours, and told us they'd return on Monday. We had some complications arise with our schedules, so I requested to have the work pushed back. Michelle and Jose were notified and were extremely accommodating. The crew came back today, Friday, for completion of the job and to add finishing touches. We are over the moon with the results! The room looked like a dungeon before - it's been completely transformed to the way we envisioned it. The doors look incredible. Jose even waited for my boyfriend to get home from work to do a final walk-through. The five star rating doesn't lie. I can't brag enough about Rathgeb Painting. Highly recommend for all painting needs!

He huffed and puffed about cc'ing a second email so god knows what he would be like on the job if he had to do something mildly inconvenient. I was completely baffled how this man turned into a child before my very eyes." All of the contractors I've dealt with with the exception of Beauty Walls - have enjoyed back and forth communication, and being very communicative and clear. Sviat literally told us "I'm not in the communications department" on one of his bad days where he was 'inconvenienced' by having to respond to our emails and requests. He rage deleted our project from his system, and when we asked him about it he said that he let his emotions get the best of him and shouldn't have done it in the moment (see more later). Dealing with him and his business delayed our move in date by a month. A prime example of communications with him will be ie - send email Monday, no reply, we follow up Wednesday, then he replies, then we respond within minutes to hours, and have to follow up again Friday for an update. We were going to try to make it work with him - since he did our floors for another property many years ago and went without hiccup. He emailed us (this is copy and pasted: " I made a mistake deleting that estimate, I started again and I'm not able to overcome my emotions. Sorry I can't do your floors. There are good companies on Yelp.com or Angi.com with trustful reviews. We can do painting for you after the floors are done" I would recommend this business if you are ok dealing with this unprofessionalism and childlike behavior As soon as we moved onto quotes from 2 other businesses, WOW night and day. Very communicative, no babysitting and having to follow up for responses, and even more - wow no complaining about having to communicate?! Bonkers. Such a horrible experience, when I really wanted to initially support an independent family business.

Despite faithfully following the directions and lots of time on YouTube, I just couldn't get the pieces to fit together perfectly. Found Magic Hands here on Yelp. Spoke to Ricky, explained my situation. The fact that I'm in Lansdowne (not really his core area) and only needed an hour or two of help to get me on track, probably made this a bit less than his most enticing job of the week. Nevertheless, he worked with me to find a time that worked for both of us. He sent his guy Chris, who was terrific - polite, professional, very competent, and - best of all - very patient with me as he showed me how to do the job, what I'd been doing wrong, etc. I still pan to be a DIYer whenever possible, but I've saved Magic Hands' number in my phone, just in case!
