I'm always up for a little journey out of town in the name of food and that's precisely what my recent visit to the city of Leduc was all about. Fifteen minutes (or so) south of the city makes Leduc feel more like a suburb and very much a part of the greater Edmonton area. It didn't take me much convincing to jump in the car when I heard that a little cafe was home to the Best Dessert 2024 as named by EDify Magazine. What delicious secrets were being kept in Leduc and how could I taste them?? Step one is to drive yourself to Leduc, which I did on a Saturday morning. While nearby, I haven't spent a whole lot of time in Leduc and found myself pleasantly surprised when the navigation took me to a quaint and cute small-town-style main street area. I really don't think that I'd ever been there before. Sweet little independent shops lined both sides of the street, lending to an idyllic pedestrian experience. Shopping areas like these always feel good to stroll through. Leduc Coffee Shop is located within two other stores; Magpies Collection and Playing For Keeps Toys. So don't get confused when you enter into a retail space; home decor and gifts on the left and children's toys on the right. Head to the back of the store and keep going until you find yourself surrounded by bistro tables and can smell the coffee. The space is cozy and cafe-like with chocolate-coloured walls and pieces of local art as decoration. I noted that each table was adorned with a vase of fresh flowers - a lovely touch. I also noticed a very adorable China cabinet filled with antique cups and saucers. The idea is that you can choose your own teacup to use, select your tea of choice, and then sit down to enjoy! What a beautiful idea that only adds to the experience! I was surprised by how large the menu is - the whole thing is posted right on the wall and it's huge both in physical size and in terms of content. In the end, the offerings include; drinks, eats, and sweets n treats. If you're looking for visual guidance most of the food items are on display in the glass case, which is helpful. I knew that I wanted to order a coffee-based beverage - it is a coffee shop after all - and I was delighted to find a special "Winter Drinks" menu. I am someone who loves a seasonal beverage, to the point of ordering off of these types of menus almost exclusively. I just like trying new things and enjoying flavours that compliment the season. This menu included six different choices, each sounding perfectly appropriate for the winter. The Gingerbread Spiced Mocha (Espresso, white chocolate, topped with whip cream & cinnamon) stood out to me, which I ordered in the small size. The girl at the counter was pleasant and got to work on preparing our drinks and eats. The drink looked like everything that I wanted it to be (AKA more like dessert than coffee) but unfortunately the flavour didn't really hit the mark for me. It mostly just tasted like a mediocre, watered down cup of coffee and didn't deliver on all of the gingerbread and spice and mocha that was promised. It just seemed like this coffee was supposed to have a lot of exciting stuff going on and I felt disappointed as I sipped it. The food menu includes a whole array of sandwiches that look really appetizing - many on croissants or bagels. And each sandwich is served with a side of corn chips which is something that I can totally get behind! I would recommend taking a look in the case and choosing whatever appears the most delicious on that particular day. However, I was visiting for one item and one item only: the Orange Bun ($3.50). This is the current best dessert in the Edmonton area and I couldn't wait to try it. These golden twirly rounds are baked in-house from scratch using real butter. The orange buns are served warm and seem to be a member of the cinnamon roll family. I know that this isn't a popular opinion but I'm not much of a cinnamon roll fan (unless we're talking about the ones at Sugarbowl, in which case I love them). This, however, is not a cinnamon roll. The homemade dough is hand-stretched every morning and the freshness is evident in every bite. There's a gooey mix of orange zest and coconut within every warm layer, bringing a sweet and unique flavour all its own. I loved this comforting bun, like something that a grandma would make. The flavour of the dough itself was almost the best part because it wasn't too sweet and it held the orange and coconut together so well. An absolute delight! I totally understand why this orange bun is on the foodie radar. It's wonderful that a little cafe like this, off the beaten path, is getting some notice. The food is the highlight at Leduc Coffee Shop but it would be nice if the coffee beverages were up to the same level. Delivering every bit the cozy cafe experience, this is the type of space that you'll be happy to spend some time in. read more

I came here because their orange rolls were featured in Edify Magazine. I ordered them for each of my guests. They loved the orange rolls. The rolls are like cinnamon buns but with orange instead of cinnamon. For lunch two of us ordered the Chicken Chipotle Melt. They were $9.99 each which is very reasonable. They were good, but not special. We noticed a steady stream of people coming in and ordering and looking for a table so this could be the most popular coffee house in Leduc. Coffee is self serve and includes refills. The cafe is located in the back of another business which I think is a gift shop. There's usually lots of steet parking available and, of course, being Leduc the parking is free. read more

One of the best coffee shops in the city! This is my go-to place to study, as it is very peaceful, quiet, and serves delicious coffee. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The coffees are made correctly and deliciously. Their breakfast sandwiches are great and it's a great spot to sit and people watch in Leduc. Amazing cafe in Leduc! Baked goods are delicious and staff are super friendly. I had a slice of carrot cake and tried one of the seasonal drinks the Maple Chai Latte and it was yummy. Service was quick too! Faster than some drive thrus I have been too! Everything is homemade in the cafe which is becoming rare it seems in this area, other spots have outsourced treats. read more

Haven't ever had had the food per se, but the drinks are good enough. Service isn't great, they seem impatient if you're trying to figure out what to order, and the owner doesn't seem very friendly. Considering it's a coffee shop, service should be fantastic, especially for a local place. Ambiance isn't great either, it's very dark, and feels unwelcoming. read more

This is a really nice little local coffee shop in downtown Leduc. They have coffee, lattes, teas, Italian soda, etc...just a like a coffee shop would. And for the lactose intolerant (like myself) you can get a frozen hot chocolate made with almond milk. They have different sandwiches and other lunch fare (varies on the day, sometimes there's pasta and hot dishes too). The coffee shop is quite long with lots of seating, including some comfy chair and there are several games around to place too. The coffee shop is affiliated with the toy store next door, so there is a connecting door that is open so you can go from the coffeeshop to the toy store. There are also some toys and things (mostly infant items) at the back where you order. Often you'll find moms with their kids stopping for a treat (they have ice cream) and to look at the toys. It's nice to see customers here. Only issue right now, and not their fault, is there's some construction in the area so finding parking can be a pain, but it isn't impossible to find. read more

Came to Leduc to have lunch with my fiancée and she suggested this place as it was near by where she worked. The food was reasonably priced, the turkey and Havarti sandwich was stellar. It just feels very welcoming and cozy with lots of comfortable seating and tables for having small eats like soups and sandwiches. Would come back again as I really enjoy the ambience of this place. And service was excellent as staff were friendly and very welcoming of requests. They also are licensed and have a small selection for those who wish to have a something to unwind with. Lots of board games and other toys to entertain children with. Good for the whole family to just sit back and enjoy a coffee or tea or iced hot chocolate (the last being my recommendation). read more

Basically all you really need to know is this: taco salad!!! But I won't stop there because this is such a great little eatery. LCS has daily lunch specials that usually cost around $7 and the portion size is fantastic. Great bang for your buck! Their specials range from spaghetti to stew to burritos to sandwiches to TACO SALAD and everything in between! They have a variety of baked goods to pair with your meal and are oh so delicious. (Pumpkin loaf, what?!) Did I mention they have coffee???? They do a wide array of different coffee and other specialty bevvies with all sorts of different flavor syrups and combinations. The 2 ladies who have always taken my order are phenomenal. They're so fun and personable. I always look forward to going in because they really make the shop great. (Sorry I've never gotten your names but you're still amazing all the same!) Did I say how FRESH the food is?! So fresh. Go try them. It's a must when visiting in Leduc. I really wanted to like this place. I tried multiple times, and each time there was something that just didn't sit well. Let me start out with the Pros and Cons. Pros: -Great atmosphere and size. Nice tall ceilings and plenty of seating. -Staff is very welcoming and friendly. -The food is tasty, but I have more on that. Cons: -The service is slow. Each time I went there was a short line that seemed to take forever to get ordered. The staff would apologize, but it wasn't working. Then you would wait close to 15-20 minutes for a coffee and reheated sandwich. -The staff seems very disorganized. There was 3 lady's each time I was there and they never seemed to have any idea on who was to do what. One person would be making coffee, the next second they're taking orders, then they're making food. Very dysfunctional system. -Orders were not accurate. The first time I came in the coffee was made correctly, but it was scalding hot and afterwards tasted so burnt I had to pour it out. The second time I asked for a vanilla latte. Again, it was so scalding hot that it took 40 minutes to cool down enough to drink. By that time I realized they had not put in the flavoring, and it was just the burnt coffee taste. -Food is overpriced and lacks in size. I ordered their special ham sandwich the one day and in all seriousness there was maybe one or two tiny pieces of ham on this sandwich. The piece of lettuce was bigger than the quantity of ham on the sandwich. It was good, but was skimpy. In conclusion, this place has a lot of potential. They really need to do some restructuring and better organization. This seems like it was put together too quickly and has a lot of kinks that need ironed out. To begin, I do want to say you provide very good cinnamon buns. Thats where my praises end. I used to frequent this joint a lot but clearly quality is something not valued here. I would go on about how petty of an owner Karen is. Deleting all reviews that paint her in a bad light although criticism vital to running a cafe. Or I could go on about how this restaurant stands for hate and other nonsensical beliefs with many going against health violations. With all of that said, why should I even care when the cleanliness and food provided by this join is not great. Sub par would be a compliment. I am all for supporting local and for one I think it is very important but why should I condone a bad restaurant who constantly puts the safety of their costumers as risk as well on top of low quality products. For someone who alleges the city is pushing a political agenda they seem to voice their views quite a bit. Good luck with those pride side walks, I would focus on running a passable business before I attempt to get involved in local politics. Food is supposed to be edible by the way. read more

I love this little place. It's casual, the food is simple but really good and the various coffees are great. The staff are friendly and they have original artwork on the walls that you can purchase if you fall in love with something. I've been there for lunch several times and enjoyed it every time. And one more cool thing - it's connected to Magpies Collection - a wonderful little store full of local unique gifts and things, and toys at the back of the store. Quaint Coffee shop in Leduc. Went with a friend to sit and talk. Good size space. Surprised to see a toy store connected to it. The coffee shop offers speciality coffee and tea, italian soda, foothills creamery ice cream. Didn't come with the kids but they offer a selection of board games to play with if your children are able to play. Ample seating. We came close to closing time so nobody was in there at the time. They had a selection of baked goods but I had the ice cream instead. Next time I'll try a baked good so I can comment if it's worth it. Overall comfortable cafe pricing is reasonable. read more

Great spot for homemade goodies and great coffee. Lovely atmosphere for someone going solo, couples or groups. It's great to have in Leduc, as we're lacking the small local cafe's like this. Great location, too! read more
