First barbershop in this area of LIC. It looks very nice inside and the people are friendly. I've gone twice now, first time to Caesar and the next to Sal. I had high hopes but was let down both times. It seems "tapered" or "faded" is not a word in their vocabulary. I asked for tapered sides starting at a 2 and then getting longer as it approaches top of head. They said, no problem. They took this to mean buzz a 2 all the way up to the top. So it now looks like I have a mushroom on my head. The attention to detail was mediocre at best. After I took a shower and dried off I had a small buzzed patch on the side of my head and little hairs around my hairline that didn't get caught by the buzzer. It's no wonder they didn't show me the sides / back at the end. Would be curious to try the mysterious Ledo himself as it sounds like he's always booked, presumably for good reason, but who knows? They're overpriced though, $25 for a mediocre haircut and tip on top of that, too much. Cash only too. Shame that Hunters Point doesn't have a good barbershop. read more

This is a new, but fantastic place in Long Island City literally around the corner from the Main Street bound 7-Train entrance. This is a great place. It has a great neighborhood feel with a bunch of really nice guys working the scissors. It also has great decor like an old fashioned barber, Ledo did a nice job with the details. And the products the barbers use are fantastic. I have bought some for myself. Also they make appointments easy to book on phone and only charge $25. Finally Cesar gives a GREAT cut,I have gotten a cut from him now 4 or 5 times and will go back to him. Today was my 5th visit to Ledo and I want to say that I really enjoy everything about this place. I know I'm only talking about a simple haircut at a barber but I find that the the guys are very skilled and friendly. I especially enjoy the hot scented towel they cover your head in after the cut. Also,$25 for a cut in this neighborhood is really a bargain considering there aren't any other comparable options. I highly recommend these guys but do yourself a favor and call for an appointment as walk-ins are getting tougher to score due to their rising popularity. I was recommended this place based off someone else's previous experience. First time I went I had a decent experience aside from it feeling a bit rushed as the barber was trying to get to the next customer quickly after me. My second and third time I had to unfortunate bad haircuts. It was a standard low maintenance clean up where I asked to clean up the sides and the back of my head. I'm growing out the top of my hair and to not go too high and to leave the length on the top and sides of my head and blend down from there. I even showed a photo to make it easy to understand. It wasn't complicated. By the time I look up the sides of my head are cut down to less than 1/3 of an inch. I started with over 1 inch and said not to touch that. Not sure why this was so hard to comprehend. The second time I used the same barber and he rushed using clippers, so the third visit I asked for a different barber and asked to use scissors instead and STILL it was messed up. The third time the entire side of my head was 1/4 of an inch from top to bottom. What the actual f&@$???I have curly hair and a narrow head, so I walked out of there looking like a broccoli head. I had to go to another barber shop to have them fix these bad cuts both time and in the process had to chop all the hair on top of my head I had patiently been growing out. Not sure what the skills sets for the employees are here as I recall only seeing one employee with an actual license/degree to cut hair, but it seems unless you get a typical skin fade on the sides with clippers then it's not a place you can ask for anything different. Nothing like walking out of a haircut with your hair butchered. read more

Finally the local barber I've been waiting for in this neighborhood. I give barbers pretty minimal instructions and Ledo's eye didn't let me down. The shop is really nicely designed and smells great. Ledo said it was even used for an episode of Project Runway and he's only been open a couple months! It seems like making an appointment is better bet, but I was able to walk-in in the morning. We brought my son here for his first official haircut (I've been secretly trimming it myself for years), and the staff was so warm and kind to not just him, but me and my husband as well. Nice and clean place. Walked in for a haircut with no appointment. Only took 10 minutes for Ledo to take me after current customer, but I do suggest making an appointment in the future. Ledo is very polite, professional, and soft spoken. Asked what I was looking for and I showed a picture. 1, 2, 3 fade on the sides and back, with a little off the top. Was nervous about the gradient and not looking like a mushroom. The end result was a perfect gradient and smooth blend all the way around. Can't speak for any other guys at the shop, but Ledo really knows what he is doing. Perfectly happy 30 minutes later. Would absolutely recommend and plan to come back myself! $30 is a fair price for the amount of attention given and the neighborhood. read more

Ledo was for years at one of the quintessential NY barbers, Astor Place Hairstylists, and it shows. He knows his stuff, he listens, and he does the job. $25 is at the upper end for a barbershop but you get what you pay for. Glad that a good barbershop has arrived at our 'hood, which badly needed one. Hope Ledo can fill the other seats soon - the demand is there. By the way, the shop has a nice retro atmosphere and a good vibe. Right next to the subway - perhaps he should open a little earlier, so that guys can go before work. I've been going to Ledo for over a decade. First when he was at Astor Barbers and now at his own beautiful shop in LIC. I don't live in the neighborhood I travel from Park Slope to see him. Ledo is not called "The Master" for nothing. He is a highly skilled barber. There used to be long waits at Astor for Ledo for this very reason. From using a straight razor to line you up to the hot towel at the end of the cut, Ledo and his crew are top notch. On top of that Ledo is a really nice guy who takes pride in his business and it shows. The shop itself looks great. It is always clean with nice fixtures, good music and very cool vintage original floors. I've never had anything but a professional experience when dealing with Ledo or any of the other barbers in his shop. I recommend using their website to book your cut in advance as slots can get filled quick. It's really easy to use their booking system. read more

Called on June 3rd to make an appointment for a haircut and a shave for 4PM on Sunday June 4th, I was told that I would need to come at 3:30 to get both and said I would do that. Called at 3PM to confirm and was told that I only have 4PM and cannot get a shave just a haircut if I still want to come. Why can't a business owner be reliable? Also I'm sort of surprised they didn't just offer to stay 15 minutes later and offer a shave and cut at 4PM for a new business. Ledo and his staff are extremely passionate about what they do. They make the experience like no other taking their time and being precise when executing the type of haircut you ask for. I received a haircut with a beard trim and shape up like no other, the hot towels are infused with eucalyptus opening your pores and nasal passages. Once you leave you feel refreshed and clean. This place is garbage. Don't waste your time. I made a reservation on a Thursday for a Saturday morning haircut. When I showed up Saturday morning, I was told that the barber who was meant to cut my hair never showed up to work and so they couldn't cut my hair. They didn't call in advance to let me know or offer to squeeze me in at some point that day, both of which they should have done given that it was their mistake. I was going to try to give this place a chance in spite of what other Yelp reviewers had said about problems making appointments, but never again. read more

Ledo is one of the best barbers in NYC. I started seeing him a few years ago at Astor Place and if I saw someone else instead of him I always regretted it. He does great fades and really makes sure you walk out of the shop with a sharp haircut. His new shop he opened is a really beautiful space in Long Island City and even though I live in Williamsburg, I have been making the commute out to LIC just to get one of his sharp fades. Terrible experience. Have never written a Yelp review before, but felt compelled to based on how bad my experience was. If you're a professional living in LIC but working in Manhattan - think you're better off getting a haircut somewhere in Manhattan. They are clearly NOT interested in building a local customer base with the people who live in the area. Deciding to try them, I booked a morning appointment by calling ahead (as the booking tool on their website doesn't work) and I arrived on time - only to be forced to wait for the barber to arrive as he had had "a rough night" of drinking the night prior. When he still hadn't shown up after over 45 minutes of waiting - which I spent watching other patrons get their hair cut - another barber gave me a hasty uneven trim, and they dismissively (and unapologetically) sent me on my way as the late barber strolled in the door. If you're considering booking a haircut - don't waste your time or money. read more
