On the northern side of the city, at the Clarac shopping area, Leclerc is a very big supermarket with a separate motor accessories department and workshops. There is also a separate technology shop. Both these separate shops are on the other side of the car park, meaning that it is a little inconvenient to cover everywhere.
The petrol station is usually busy, and often has a promotion on, offering fuel at prix coûtant (cost price), but in general, fuel is cheaper at the Carrefour supermarket on the other side of town, on the Tarbes road.
The main store stocks a huge range of goods, and the quality fresh foods is very good. The store fulfils the image we have of the French hypermarket that stocks almost everything, though I haven't yet spotted a cement mixer, which I did once see in a hypermarket in the Paris area!
Car parking is ample and easy to negotiate. Shopping aisles are wide and uncluttered. In season, a separate marquee is used for plant and garden equipment sales. There are other shops within the building, and there are other sheds for DIY, clothing, textiles, sports goods, etc., on the same retail estate.
In our experience, Leclerc stores can be very variable in standard, but this is one of the best - certainly in this part of France. read more
