I was lucky enough to visit during a food truck festival, but I also saw vendors set up throughout the week/weekend as well. Check the website for events because there is always something special planned. Yoga in the park? Yep, that's available too. Just want to swing and watch water features? Head on over to the swings, let the breeze flow and just enjoy what the park has to offer. This was one of the highlights of my trip because it is about 1.5 miles and connects several neighborhoods. Can't go wrong enjoying nature, especially on a lovely day.

It's 1.5 miles (2.4km) long and spans from Chinatown through the Financial District and waterfront to the North End neighbourhood. We didn't walk along the entire greenway, but we started at Oliver and Purchase Street (near James Hook & Co) and walked to the waterfront. The greenway was a pleasant walk, with public art and beautiful landscapes. We only saw a small portion of the park, but there is also a carousel, fountains, food trucks, and various events held in the park. Feels a bit touristy. I say it's a great place to hang out and feel the city of Boston. Great place to kill time and take in the great city of Boston. There are great looking buildings throughout. Feels like you step back in time to the old days. If you are visiting Boston, make sure you stop by Copley Square and take in the sceneries.

The summer I bought myself a pair of roller skates, I would put my speaker in my fanny pack and roller skate up and down the Charles grooving to disco music. Nothing beats that in my book.

I had taken the train in from New York City, where I live, the early morning run that is priced so temptingly that I select it even though I regret that when I must arise at 3:30am to make my way in the dark to catch it. Others like the option as well. Every seat was taken. That also meant, however, arriving far too early to check into the hotel. My wife and her college roommate were coming in from Cape Cod. Their ETA was after lunch. I was wondering what I would do on my own. It was a mile hike to where we were staying. This place is very close to South Station. They had all these Adirondack chairs. Only a few people were out. The weather was perfect: not cold, but not yet hot. You could sit out in the sun comfortably. That is a limited season, meant to be savored while it lasts. So I sat down to write and "people watch." A group of German tourists showed up. I should say German speaking; they could have been Austrian or from elsewhere. One of them, a woman, was coughing so much, it was one of those she's losing a lung sounds. I considered alighting from my perch. I figured we were outdoors and she was facing in the other direction. As of 24 hours late, I have not come down with anything. So that risk turns out to have been worth taking, though it is an indication of my laziness (it also would have seemed rude, since I would have settled down a greater distance away, and it would be apparent why I had departed, and people interpret these gestures differently, which is to say many are quick to take offense). Others were hanging out, reading, one sketching.

The tail end of the Greenway, Dewey Square Park is a small piece of green right under the start of…read morethe tunnel in front of South Station and the iconic Federal Reserve building. More than just grass, the Park is a little bit of rolling hill and grassy treed areas that isn't flat like the rest of the Greenway. Almost a proper forest, if you can turn out the sirens, honking horns and skyscrapers. It's a little bit of nature in the middle of a very big city.

The cruises are offered in partnership with the National Park Service, so our guide (who walks you from the meeting point to the boat and narrates the tour) was a park ranger, which makes it a more special experience, in my opinion. They offer day time and sunset cruises, but we were lucky enough to be able to fit in a sunset cruise on a Friday evening. The 2-hour cruises are narrated, so you can learn about various islands and their histories, as well as see some lighthouses. You check in at the Boston Harbor Islands Welcome Center on the Rose Kennedy Greenway and then walk a short distance (less than five minutes) to the boat. The boat has seating inside and outside, as well as bathrooms. I had never been out into Boston Harbor before, so this was a treat. I learned a lot and saw a few stunning sites before/during/after sunset. I enjoyed the experience. Seeing Boston Light and Graves Light on this cruise was a real treat. My only real complaint is that they tell you to arrive at least 3 minutes before departure to check in. This was absolutely not necessary. Our departure was at 5:30, and I don't think we even started to walk over to the boat until 5:30. We had arrived at 4:45 and so had to sit around for 45 minutes while others checked in much closer to the departure time. We had books so we were okay, but I really don't think they should be asking people to check in that early! A very cool experience if you're looking for a way to get out into the Harbor and on the water during a visit to Boston!
