Matcha Latte, Hojicha Latte and a Mixed Veggie Scone
Deanna T.

Vegans rejoice because Leaves House is a 100% plant-based café in the heart of Downtown Montréal. It left such a notable impression on me that I just had to visit it more than once. Located in Place Montréal Trust and across the street from Montréal Eaton Centre, this is a hotspot for students particularly from the local McGill University. It seemed like regardless of the time visited, there were always students studying. We were lucky to even snag a table our second time there. Great: + All beverages and pastries are plant-based with a very nice variety to choose from + Quite possibly the largest selection of alternative milks in a café I've seen and thanks to Leaves House, this is how we discovered pistachio milk for the first time + Superb service with a smile + Reasonable prices + Truly lovely environment enhanced by real plants and greenery placed throughout the café + Accessibility-friendly: automatic door and ramp, so perfect for strollers, wheelchairs or anyone with accessibility needs + Business comprises of two cafés in Montréal and an e-commerce platform + Gender neutral washrooms require a code to enter My visit to Montréal was extra special because I got to check out some vegan eats and places that I normally would not have thought to do. Many thanks to our vegan friend for finding this place too! If I go back to Montréal, this place is most certainly on my list to visit again.

Beet Latte and Matcha latte with mini cactuses

When MTLblog announced that Leave house café is giving free cactuses with the order of latte made with oat milk, I took the opportunity to go their finally since it was on my list to try this place for a while. 1. I always wanted to try this café because their products are plant based. 2. The new sensation is oat milk, so I was intrigued. 3. Free cactus... that's exciting. It's small café on McGill College street, but one step up, there is a generous amount of space to sit compared to the café (the other branch) on De La Montagne, which is super tiny. They have a vast selection of beverages and lattes. I opted for matcha and my sister for beet latte. Both were delicious. The oat milk gives the texture of smoothness and thickness but equally succulent to regular milk. The benefits of oat milk, it has vitamins like B2, B12. Plus, it lowers the cholesterol and strengthens the bones. It's also 100% vegan. Since it's a café, they have a nice selection of pastries, but food wise, some salad in jar, not that much of anything. Definitely, a place to check out.

I've been to their other location and loved it so I knew what to expect when ordering. Didn't go for the maple latte, went for the maple cocoa instead with coconut milk and yuuuuuum. It was great. Also opted for the chocolate and peach scone. I had a day of writing reviews planned but I found myself at a standstill when it was time to charge my laptop, plugs are only located on the side of the cafe nearest to the glass panels and those were already taken so I had to wait till a spot opened up. So don't come here hoping you'll be able to charge your laptop and work all day unless you come here early and grab a spot. Other than that, it's a good cafe. I wouldn't recommend to study there since it is close to the mall and it's inside the work building so the influx of people is constant and can be a distraction even though it was generally quiet when i went.

I am so happy they opened a new location! Leaves is an all vegan cafe with super delicious drinks and treats. If you order a latte, because they're all vegan, the milks dont cost you extra (unless you order macadamia nut milk). Their matcha latte is quite good and is super creamy and comforting. I think it tastes best with almond milk. You can also buy all vegan treats. I had their carrot cake and it was amazing. It doesn't taste vegan at all! It was super moist and the cream cheese frosting tasted like the real thing. You can also buy some plants at $5-10 per plant. They're quite nicely taken care of. Ambience: there's seating both in the main order floor and above. You'll probably need to share a table with a bunch of other people. Wifi is pretty slow but that is okay. Service: friendly and quick! You can pay via cash or card.

I went there few weeks ago since they just opened close to McGill and they were having this promotion of "buy one latte and get a cactus for free". I never had a fully plant based latte (with oat milk), so I was excited to have this new experience. I got a matcha latte with oat milk and it was pretty good. I was initially skeptical about the oat milk part while ordering but my doubt went away as soon as I tried the matcha latte :). While I enjoyed the drink, I was disappointed to see the cactus they were giving for free. I get it, it was free but still I felt it was too small and I didn't feel like "getting a nice thing". I wish they clarified that in their promotion advertisement. Also, while it can be a nice place for study, it can be pretty packed and you might not get a spot to sit. The tables on the first floor/by the counter seemed too small to do anything.

Lovely vegan cafe in Montreal! Their specialty plant-based lattes are the BEST!! You have a variety of plant based milk to choose from: oat milk (+$0.25), macadamia milk (+$0.50), coconut milk, rice milk or soy milk. I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk and I loved it! They have amazing vegan sweets and treats too! I tried their vegan carrot cake and it was top notch! It is located a few minutes away from McGill university which makes it a great spot to study or to hang out with a friend. The ambiance at this cafe is amazing! Very cozy! The staffs were very friendly as well! It can get super busy sometimes and you might not be able to find a spot to sit down and enjoy your drink. Also, they have plants for sale at this cute cafe!

They had iPad covers too, but I think purchasing there is the same price as purchasing from any stores elsewhere. as for the services, I find that they're okay. I do find some items are pretty overpriced and if you love kpop cases and there's no one sells them, its pretty reasonable to buy it.

They also sell lots of Sanrio branded merchandise, like Hello Kitty stuff. I wasn't so much interested in any of the aforementioned items, but what I was most interested in was their fairly large selection of Melissa jelly shoes!! At the back of the store, they have their Melissa shoes display. If you are a size 6 and love Melissa shoes, you would have a field day. Tons of styles in size 6. I'm a size 5, and can almost never find any Melissa shoes in stores in this size, but they had a bunch of styles in size 5. Unfortunately, not any styles that I liked. Prices were pretty reasonable too, since they were all from past seasons. There were some as low as $69.99. I am so going there every time I go to Montreal from now on. Maybe one day I will find a pair of Melissa + Karl Lagerfeld Ice Cream pumps in a size 5 there (one can only dream, sigh).

Incredible selection, even better customer service!…read more After a long hunt for the perfect (faux) fur winter hat, I finally found it at Cuir Mont Royal, along with a pair of great convertible winter mittens. I was so excited to finally find both of the items I was looking for, especially when I found out the reasonably priced accessories were also on promo. I started wearing the hat every day in the coldest month of winter. So, when I dropped it in the metro station and couldn't find it again, I was really upset, especially because I knew I'd bought the last one in the store. But Cuir Mont Royal saved the day! I messaged them on Instagram, and, within an hour, they'd responded that they would do everything they could to get me the same hat. Just two days later, they reached out to tell me they'd found it for me, and that they were reserving it for whenever I could come into the store. They were so kind, helpful, and attentive! Truly the kind of customer service you only find in a local business like this one. On top of it all, their selection is unmatched. They have a vast but curated selection of high-quality, stylish products for all budgets. They even have a selection of unique gifts that celebrate the culture of Montréal. I cannot thank them enough for keeping me warm (and fashionable) through the winter. This place is an absolute must for all your winter gear!
