Had an amazing experience with the WCEMT San Diego location (Aka get Spencer as the instructor). As…read morea newbie into healthcare/emergency services etc and without any previous knowledge like anatomy classes etc, I had so much to learn, just listen in lectures and you'll pass and do great. I did the accelerated course for 5 weeks Mon-Thu 8am-5pm. Tips: 1. whether you have general knowledge of the topics covered in an EMT course or not, acknowledge that you are gonna be digesting a lottttt of new information. Get good sleep, take your notes, apply yourself don't just show up to class and expect to pass 2. Create a good set up. I did my sign/symptoms homework over the weekend in addition to the online JBL quizzes. (both graded). This way during the week all I had to worry about was learning new information, being ahead, and studying for the in person quiz and exam. 3. Ask questions, the instructor is a tool that you can use. They are always there to help you and want you to succeed. Super knowledgeable and helpful, just have the courage to ask questions, especially when it's needed. 4. Sign up for your 2 required EMS rides early, if you do them in the second or third week it's better. A lot of the students including myself put dates for the last 2 weeks of the course, however EMS services can only have so many ride alongs.Hence, I just finished the course and am taking my 2nd ride along the week after because it was backed up. Do it early. 5. Make friends in the class and help each other out. We were all able to bond over the topics that were harder to learn etc, it ended up helping a lot. Everyone the first week is obviously nervous but everyone is super nice just put yourself out there. 6. When your class is studying together for the quiz or exam and Spencer is talking, listen CAREFULLY to what he says, if he repeats something or says it slowly, it's for a reason, study it for the quiz/exam. You will be doing yourself the biggest disadvantage if you don't listen to the instructor in class. 7. The skills assessments. You get out what you put in. Skills instructors are there to help teach you and correct you in practice, but be able to make mistakes and learn before skills testing day. 8. Manage your time effectively. Some students understood the information better than others and were able to enjoy themselves more outside of class time, for students like myself, the information was hard to grasp and the extra time outside of class is needed to study more. Expect to be done with class, go home and study what you learned. 9. Quizlet helps a lot, however cross check the information on there with your notes. (the book wasn't really much of help). But Spencer goes over all of the important topics in detail. Quizlet is good for practice but know your definitions and how things work. 10. Not everyone in the class but most were taken as a prerequisite for Fire Service. Super nice to network with everyone on this journey and get more information about the different routes people are on. I believe we started with 60 individuals and ended with 40 passing or so. Overall, the class was not that difficult if you followed these. At a bare minimum, turn everything in on time, keep up in the class or get ahead, LISTEN to the instructor. Great experience. Also the Cargo Cafe coffee shop there is phenomenal. Very convenient. About to take NREMT, super confident and studying pocket prep after the class. Goodluck y'all.

Out of a starting class of 50 only 12 of us finished. THIS IS NOT AN EASY PROGRAM! If one wants to do well he or she better dedicate a lot of their time studying for this course. He was going to go to San Diego High, but it felt big and impersonal. My son is smart and i felt like he was going to just cruise by without any challenge or any accolades. We toured SET and my son was so excited. I love that each class is small. I love McCurdy, Ms Heath and all the other teachers. Ms. Geis is such a rad human! My Daughter is the opposite of my son.... She is into dance and theatre, but after seeing how awesome SET was, we enrolled my daughter too. Love the school and staff dearly!

If so, I highly suggest you check out SET High (formerly Coleman Tech Charter School). Our son graduated from SET High last year and now our daughter is attending and we couldn't be happier. She is only in 9th grade and already taking on leadership roles. The teachers exceed my expectations. They know each student by name, have great relationships with them. My son's former teachers are always happy to see him when he goes to visit, which is often. He even gave graduation presents TO some of his teachers before he left. The students are geeky, wacky, nerdy, different, intelligent, unique, confident, and wonderful! My daughter said that she didn't want to go to any other school because she is with "her people" and she is right. Dr. McCurdy said in last year's commencement speech, "If you aren't failing, you aren't learning." What a great place to make mistakes, learn from them, and make improvements. I'm so excited for the students attending SET High because they are learning real-world skills at such an early age in a supportive, caring, and fun environment. You won't find a better school for your student!

As a former IT guy and veteran who had drifted into IT technical writing, translation and…read morelocalization, but who had remained working in IT as a consultant, I was pleased to find a place to finally certify my knowledge and grab another degree. CIAT has several very well-designed degree and certificate programs, ranging from Data Analysis and Software Development to Networking Technology and Cybersecurity. Their program lengths run the gamut from 10-week certificate programs to BSc degrees, and all of them include preparation for and multiple attempts at industry standard and vendor certification. From the A+ to the PMP, CISSP and Azure or AWS Professional certifications, you'll find it here, and all of it transferable. If you have preexisting degrees like I do, you will likely be allowed to skip the general education portion of your studies and move right into your major curricula. No retaking courses! The support staff are flexible, reach out often and want to see you succeed, as do the quite accomplished professors. They offer online-attended (live) and self-paced, pre-recorded courses and extra short courses (including free practice software!) to prepare for your certification exams. Career support, including job placement in the industry you want to enter while you study, is available. I always mistrusted private tech colleges, but CIAT gets it right.

I want to cry it's extremely frustrating When you rely on these funds for you and your family. Staff is clueless, so no real help there If you have questions. You will get 6 different answers, there is no standard rule, or set of rules. No one knows anything. Even if you're directed to the HEAD of the department you need. Rules can sometimes change without notification. Oh you're a veteran? Stay on their ass HEAVY, call every single day about enrollment for new terms so you can get paid. Some of them will sit on your enrollment for days and you actually have to remind them to send it up. I've gotten 3 times: "Oh, I forgot, let me do that now." WTF!? i even have a girl change my exam status to hybrid the entire time when I told her I'd be online after a certain month At the start of a new term. this is not great, because I would have to pay funds back for a status i wasn't actively using I caught it last minute before the start of the next term. Would have had to pay back $5k for that. Hybrid exam -_- get someone to thoroughly explain what needs to be done. This school needs tons of work.
