Learning on the Log, a nonprofit organization, provides inclusive, experiential social skills therapy within recreational settings for children ages 3 to 10 including children with developmental and sensory delays and Autism Spectrum Disorder. With over 675 children served yearly, our Enrichment Preschool, Weekend Activities and Summer Camps include activities such as: hiking, swimming, rock climbing, team sports, tumbling, rafting, obstacle courses, and karate. Our dynamic and engaging staff facilitate fun, interactive birthday parties for small and large groups of children.
History
Established in 2001.
Founded in April 2001, Learning on the Log started with weekend father and son activities. By that summer, we started our first summer camp. In 2002, we recognized the need for similar programs during the school year and expanded our programs. In August 2003, Learning on the Log converted to a nonprofit 501(c)3 charitable organization. Currently, we offer an Enrichment Preschool, Weekend programs, Summer Camps and Corporate Team Building. We also host birthday parties.
Our mission is a relentless pursuit of interactions that exude our three core principles: Interact - Creating motivation to form relationships; Relate - Building self-confidence through communication; Communicate - Expressing emotions within natural interactions. We believe the supported practice and development of meaningful social skills enhances confidence and self-worth leading to success in other relationships.
Meet the Business Owner: Armann F.
Armann Fenger, MS, LAPC - Founder & Executive Director
Armann holds a Masters Degree in Professional Counseling from Mercer University and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration from the University of Vermont. Since starting Learning on the Log in 2001, over 1500 campers have had the chance to participate and over 200 staff have been coached. Armann has been involved in starting and running three metro-Atlanta school programs for children with developmental challenges and has extensive experience in developing and implementing physical and recreational therapy. Recently, Armann overhauled Zack Brown's camp, Camp Southern Ground, so that it could better fit the needs of special needs children. You can also schedule an individual, couple, or family counseling sessions.
