We're very happy we chose Learning Clock Montessori Preschool when we moved to San Leandro. We looked at many schools/daycares but this one felt right from the start. My son started here at age 3 knowing zero English, after a month, he knows simple words and also simple communication with the teacher's. Teacher Zeb is very kind and caring. You can tell she really cares about the kids and loves what she does. My son learned so much during his time here. He especially loved yoga time, painting and Show and Tell days, where he could bring his favorite toy and share with his classmates. These fun activities helped him build public speaking skills and enjoy school even more. The classroom is clean and peaceful. We also love the big outdoor play area, it has plenty of space and slides for kids to play, plus, a gazebo for shade, so the kids can play comfortably outside. We especially loved that they prepared a graduation for the little ones, where each child got to do their own speech, sing, and dance as a group. My son has now been here almost 2 years. He just loves it. He loves teacher Zeb, and all the other teachers as well. They have weekly yoga right now which he looks forward to every week. He's made great friends here and so much developmental progress. He went from half days to full days which I thought would be a challenge for him, but he truly looks forward to going to play with all his friends each day. My daughter, who started when she was 2 years old has been going to Learning Clock Montessori for about 5 months. We wish we could stay longer but we are moving out of the state. I think they have a wonderful learning and nurturing environment. My daughter has improved so much since she started going there. Her language skills went from pretty much unrecognizable babbling to saying full sentences. It may be a coincidence but I think they really helped being around a more structured learning environment with more children to play with. My son have been attending this school for 2 years now and we will be sadden to leave. This school is small but very personable, all the teachers are friendly and greet us with smile every morning. They have a way with the kids and makes them want to learn and come back for more. My daughters started at Learning Clock Montessori shortly before the pandemic and have started attending again in July. After over a year being at home with us, starting school again for my daughters was tough (for them and us parents), but Teacher Zeb and Teacher Rachel were so patient and caring with them. Within two weeks, my daughters were walking right in without crying and had started giving the teachers high fives before leaving in the afternoon. I love the different activities that they do at school, like practicing writing letters and numbers, drawing, arts and crafts projects, etc., as well as lots of play time both inside and outside. My 3yr old son has been coming here since April of this yr. At first, it was emotionally, a hard transition for both us as parents and for my son, but the school is very welcoming and made it smooth and easy. Teachers here know very well how to handle kids of all ages specially teacher Zeb. She has a way... a gift... of how to calm, discipline, teach and play with them in a way that kids can easily follow and learn. My son loves going to school, he is learning a lot and blends well with the other kids. They have daily schedules whic include circle time, dance and sing, arts and craft, snacks, nap time, outside play and they even learn other basic international languages. Our plus for us is that my son is not quite potty trained yet and they help and encourage him to use the toilet to pee and . Our daughter started with Learning Clock a little under 2.5 years old - Aug 2020, midst of pandemic. We had many of reservations leaving her at daycare - knowing how our daughter can be, and given the circumstances of the pandemic at the time. But we were willing to take the risk because she desperately needed interaction with other kids her age, and to learn to take direction from an adult other than ourselves. And, surprisingly the first day went much better than we anticipated. We are grateful to the other children that were already there, who were so welcoming towards her - it was exactly what she needed to warm up and forget she's away from home. It is now over a year later and she has progressed so much during this developing stage, that I dont think would be possible if not for Learning Clock's nurturing environment. During this first year, she's learned so much - basic writing, coloring and drawing skills, and has become much more outgoing and patient. She really enjoys the birthdays, holiday activities and crafts. She is more than happy in the mornings to go to school - she would run in, and give Teach Zeb a hug, and leaves in the afternoon, very happy and more chatty than she usually is at home. Because of many reasons, Learning Clock Montessori is an ideal location for preschoolers to pick up their first long interactions with other children and with teachers outside of home. The combination of their convenient location, understanding staff (whom speak more than one language), and overall general teachings has helped many children. Our son attended this "school" for approximately 7 months. I wish I could rewind in time and take it all back and that I'd recognized the signs earlier. This was NOT a good fit for us. Food - pack your own lunch (fine), no peanuts (fine). In the first couple of weeks I felt like every time my husband or I dropped off our son we were harassed about what we packed for our boy to eat. He's 3 and picky...aren't they all? So we give him sun-butter and jelly sandwiches on whole wheat, Greek yogurt, carrot sticks, applesauce, those super convenient packets of pureed veggies, raisins, cheddar bunnies, etc. Apparently these are all very "snacky" - although it sounds a lot like what my mom packed in my school lunches. One day as she was picking on me in the morning, another student was eating her oh-so-nutritional breakfast of a DONUT and a STARBUCKS FRAPPACCINO. I think Ms. Fey was picking on the wrong parent because the last time I checked, I wasn't sending my kid to school with a boatload of sugar and caffeine (seriously, who feeds their 2 year old a coffee drink???). Discipline - she yells. Actually, it's more of a shriek. Near the end our son would come home everyday and tell us that he was bad and had to sit in Ms. Fey's office. She does not demonstrate the ability to handle a normal 3 year old boy's energy...she wouldn't even attempt to redirect or ask him to use his words, she'd simply put him on a time out. I witnessed an occasion one morning where she yelled at another little boy for trying to "roll" a block (that didn't have wheels) on the tile floor. Hitting - Our son is in the 99th percentile for height and has a speech delay...but he really is a sweet kid. If he feels another child is in his space, he will push instead of using his words...we're working on this, but it's not the norm. He does not instigate fights or hit without provocation (not saying that excuses it...just saying he's not an instigator). My husband was usually the one to pick our son up and Ms. Fey had to pull him aside a few times for "incidents" on the playground. One time she claimed that another parent complained. We asked who and/or if she could set up a meeting for us so that we could supervise a play date to correct the behavior and Ms. Fey would not have that. She didn't offer any other solution. Again, she's unable to understand child behavior and unable to redirect it into positive activities. Shortcuts - Near the end, I dropped our son off and Ms. Fey was bragging to her mom that she had just finished renewing her CPR online without having to take a class or have any practical re-instruction. With that many children to care for, if it were me...I'd feel safer with real practice to be ready just in case of an emergency. Or at least I wouldn't brag about it in front of a parent. The final straw and our son's last day - I dropped him off that morning and in the process of drop off, another little boy who was friends with our son, came charging at him wanting to give him a hug. Our son put his hands up to block the unwanted affection and the other boy fell down on his butt. No big deal, he didn't cry and the two of them went into the playroom to find something to do. That night, my husband heard that our son had "violently pushed another boy, almost knocking him into the wall where he would have badly hit his head...and he was very upset and needed consoling." Ms. Fey went on to tell my husband that I had witnessed it. He asked if she saw it...she had not. She was recounting what I assume Ms. May told her...although you can see that is vastly different than what I witnessed happen literally at my feet. My last comment would just be to reiterate what I've already said. Ms. Fey isn't constructive at all. She's like Chicken Little...she keeps shrieking that the sky is falling and never has a solution or practical advise. This applies to all of the issues we've had with her. She has not mastered the art of redirection or encouraging children to work out their "issues" with words. She doesn't seem to be caring, in fact she seems frazzled and at her wit's end most of the time. Our son has been at a new school for a month now and we're working hand in hand with the director there to make sure he adjusts well. So far, he's doing amazing and loves going to school there. We love this school! As first time parents we were worried about leaving our child at a daycare, but we feel lucky to have found such a great place. Our kid doesnt want to go home at the end of the day and the teachers are great. Our son has had issues with his speach and he has made tremendous strides here. My son has been attending the learning clock Montessori school for the past two years and we've kept him enrolled there for a number of reasons. Initially we were attracted to the school because of the intimate feel and the cultural diversity but the sincerity of the teachers and their openness to parent involvement added value to our experience. We like that there is a maximum student threshold. Because we are always actively engaged with our kids at home the thought of enrolling him in a large classroom was off-putting even if the student to teacher ratio is considered acceptable by law. We like how there is such diversity among the teachers for such a small school. One of my favorite things about the Bay area is how it's such a cultural melting pot and LCMS is a reflection of that diversity. Although this is an English-speaking school the kids have exposure to four languages on any given day. We like how the instructors have a way of letting you know they truly care about the kids well-being. Toddlers and preschoolers are the same in many ways but also have different needs and requirements. I believe kids can tell if people have their best interest at heart so when my son tells me that he wants to stay a little longer when I'm picking him up I view it was a subtle reminder that I made the right decision. My wife and I are as busy as the next set of professionals but I like how when time permits were able to help out with a holiday party or making an art picture with his classroom. This openness ultimately solidified my fondness of the school because it gave me exposure to how his other classmates seem happy. read more

The pandemic and lock down happened a month after he was born and I believe had something to do with his delay in speech. The first week of school our then 3-yr old son attended in October 2016, we can already see he has improved in his ABCs, colors, songs, shapes, coloring, cutting, pasting, and writing. Since then, we have brought home several of our son's work that included a variety of arts and crafts and completed worksheets, and we are happy with his progress and curriculum. We also like that the school holds events to celebrate upcoming holidays. Since our son started, he's participated in Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas events. In addition, the hours are extremely convenient (7am-6pm) as it works perfect with our schedules. The location is great and easy to park. We also didn't have any issues with enrollment and the staff is polite and courteous. More importantly the teachers are kind and caring. Teacher Zeb is excellent! She truly cares for the children and is very patient. We have seen how gentle and patient she is with our son, and in turn, our son has responded positively and has told us that he "loves" Zeb. I have had my children going to Learning Clock Montessori since 2012. It was the only daycare and school I trusted for my little ones. They are so gentle with the children and teach them so many fundamental values! They make sure each child gets the attention they need and deserve. I love the hours because they fit my work schedule. So far, two of my children have went there. When my oldest son graduated from Learning Clock, he was ahead of his class in kindergarten! He is now 8 and still loves to visit because of all the great memories he had there. My daughter is only 3 and can identify all the letters in the alphabet! My three year old daughter attends Learning Clock as a preschooler. She has progressed amazingly with Fey, Alexis and Mei as teachers. She now knows her numbers, letters and has started to sight read words. She responds well to the happy environment and now has started taking piano lessons as an additional part of her education.
