Lynn is a rare type of teacher that lets you grow and try at your own pace, while offering tailored lessons, expert guidance, and so much warmth and compassion! Her studio is truly a safe space, whether you're a couple practicing your first dance, or someone looking to push themselves and embrace (or get back into) dance. We're so happy we found Lynn before our wedding, and in addition to learning some sweet moves we feel we have grown as people during our lessons with her. She is kind, welcoming, and has a wealth of knowledge and dance experience. Everyone should at least take an intro lesson with her and shape your unique journey from there. Thank you again Lynn!! read more

Lynn was amazing! My wife and I took around 15 lessons with her for our wedding dance, and it was an excellent decision. We both came with ZERO dance experience and she made everything feel fun, relaxed, and totally doable. She broke things down step by step, was patient, and even helped us work through some frustration with each other during the process! By the time the wedding came around, we were nervous and excited to show off our new moves. Everyone loved our dance and we couldn't have done it without her. If you're considering taking lessons for your wedding, do it, and go with Lynn. She's amazing at what she does and genuinely cares about her students. Five stars all the way! read more

I think fate allowed us to be able to learn from Lynn. We moved to the area not too long ago, and we were looking for a dance instructor for our wedding. Magically, we found out that we lived a mere minutes from each other. Lynn was nothing but kind and welcoming from day one, and she truly met us where we were as dancers with little experience. We learned so much in our 7 lessons with her, and the dance parties she hosted were also an amazing learning experience. I truly don't think we'll ever be able to find another instructor like her. If you're looking for someone to teach you how to dance for a special occasion or just for fun, Lynn is your girl! read more

We had a great experience with Lynn! We scheduled last minute dance lessons with Lynn before our wedding. My fiancé and I had no dance experience and Lynn immediately put us at ease and made the experience fun and stress free. And we learned a lot!!! We are so excited for our first dance now, and feel soooo much more comfortable dancing in front of people. Lynn is an amazing, thoughtful teacher who really listened to our goals tailored the lessons around us! read more

Lynn is amazing. She is a fantastic, patient, kind teacher and her knowledge of different dances is extensive. Highly recommended!

My fiancée and I took some lessons with Lynn to try to improve our dance skills. After a few lessons, we unexpectedly built up the confidence to actually work towards a choreographed first dance, thanks to Lynn. Lynn is patient, unpretentious, and a talented choreographer. She also seemed to really care about our success, which just made us want to put the right effort into this all the more. read more

Our son was getting married in a few months and we really needed to up our dance game. My husband was reluctant, but willing. Lynn won us over in the first lesson, she is so warm and easy to work with. She took the time to understand what we were looking for and customized her teaching to our needs and capabilities. She gave us so much confidence and made the whole dancing experience way more fun for us. We both always looked forward to our time with her. We took one extended lesson with our son and his fiancée and in just 90 mins we created our mother-son dance- which we rocked at the wedding! Lynn is terrific, highly recommended! read more

Lynn taught my fiancée and I how to dance in advance of our wedding. Neither of us had any prior experience, and she made it both fun and easy. Lynn is a great teacher, and we'd highly recommend her to others! read more

Lynn is AMAZING! When a friend recommended her as a dance instructor to help us choreograph and learn our first dance for our wedding, we couldn't believe that someone could have like literally all 5-star reviews, but after a few lessons we could 100% see why! My (now) wife and I had never danced together before other than occasionally bopping around at weddings, and coming in to lessons with Lynn we described ourselves as pretty much having limited natural rhythm and expressive/fluid body movement. Lynn is 100% able to meet you where you are at, no matter what level you are. In our intro call, she was clear that her approach leaned towards more teaching the improvisation of dancing and not rigid moves. This was very different than what other dance instructors had told us, and we were very intrigued that in learning our first dance for our wedding, we wouldn't just be "trained ponies" that could dance to one song. Lynn really helped us be able to "feel" the music no matter what songs there are, and we have already gotten to use our newly acquired general dance skills/comfortability while dancing at several other wedding receptions! Rather than just tell us a rigid choreographed dance for our selected song, Lynn would live-choregraph and come up with the next part with us over our series of lessons! At first, we were slightly anxious, as it wasn't until roughly 2 lessons to-go / 3 weeks before our wedding that we had our finalized full dance. BUT WE HAVE LEARNED TO HAVE FAITH, TRUST IN LYNN, AND TRUST THE PROCESS! In hindsight, this was definitely the right approach. We didn't have a lot of time to practice on our own, so learning each part of our dance piece by piece was perfect for us. We nailed our first dance at our wedding flawlessly and our friends and family were wowed and touched by our unique expression of love! What sets Lynn apart is her contemplative aura, kind spirit, and ability to really connect with you as a human. We feel that it's rare to find people who are genuinely down-to-earth, caring humans, and Lynn is certainly in this category! So many times we came into her dance studio stressed from life, wedding planning, work, commute, etc., and her demeanor and the space she created for us allowed me and my wife to really grow in love together and focus on each other without the distractions of life. We loved that Lynn doesn't get bogged down by technical jargon or making sure your elbow is exactly at a 34 degree angle and stuff like that. I think she definitely has those technical capabilities, but she could tell that our primary objective was just to dance beautifully and lovingly together in a mostly classicly "correct" manner. She isn't abrasive at all when she corrects your dancing during lessons, she does it gently with grace and care, and she is very constructive in her approach. She creates the space to listen to how you feel about things and for you to communicate any kind of discomfort/unease you have with any aspect of the dancing or moves or anything. She is very intuitive, too, and sometimes could tell how we felt about things before we even voiced it! Thank you so much Lynn, from the bottom of our hearts! We highly recommend Lynn for anyone whether its first dance at wedding, any other wedding dance, or any other dance in life! I think it could even help if anyone is having general communication issues / connection issues with their romantic partner/spouse. Finally, we particularly appreciated Lynn's flexibility (we opted for an 8-lesson package which we did over the course of ~7 months, very fairly priced), as multiple times due to surprise work commitments we had to make changes to our planned lesson schedule. Lynn was so easy to work with over texting for scheduling, and her flexibility and clarity in communication were key for our busy work/travel schedules. We drove from San Francisco to the Berkeley Hills for lessons and it was 1,000% worth it! read more

Lynn is the best! With our daughter's wedding coming up earlier this month we knew we really needed help. So glad we found Lynn. With her patient and skillful guidance we ended up feeling really comfortable and confident on the dance floor and had a great time when the Big Day arrived. Plus we just had a lot of fun together taking the lessons! Lynn was flexible dealing with our busy schedules and prompt responding to our texts. She has a great little studio and her fees are reasonable. We highly recommend her!! read more

Lynn is fantastic! My fiancée and I went to her ~2 months before our wedding (I know, late in the game). Lynn did an incredible job of teaching us the basics, making us feel confident in them and ourselves, and helping us craft a routine that we really loved. We even had initially planned on just doing a ~2 minute dance, but with Lynn's guidance, we felt comfortable enough to do a full 4-minute song and more! I was admittedly pretty nervous going into it, and I wasn't sure how much we would ultimately get out of ~8 sessions in total. But it was night and day. We felt so good after each lesson, and Lynn is the most patient hype woman ever! She found creative ways of explaining concepts that really resonated and were easy to understand, and we're so appreciative of all of the help and love she showed us along the way. Highly recommend!!! read more

Lynn is amazing! My partner and I took several lessons with Lynn in anticipation of our first dance for our wedding. As someone with no prior dance experience, the idea of ballroom dancing in front of all my friends and family was extremely daunting to me. Lynn's teaching method was excellent - she broke things down in a very digestible way, teaching us the basic steps, moving onto a few harder (and visually impressive) steps, and then helping us design and refine our own choreography for our wedding day dance. By the time we got to the big day, my partner and I both felt super comfortable and proud of the dance that we did. Lynn was extremely encouraging to us throughout the whole learning process, and I appreciated that she was not judgmental at all about the fact that we hadn't practiced much between some of the classes. She has a great way of gently correcting mistakes without being critical, and you can tell that she has a kind and patient soul. Now that we are back from our honeymoon, my partner and I are excited to take more lessons with Lynn and expand into other fun dancing styles beyond the stuff we learned for our wedding. Can't recommend Lynn enough! read more

Lynn for the WIN!! My Fiancée and I were looking for some dance lessons ahead of our wedding. We found Lynn and are SO happy we went with her! I would recommend Lynn to anyone looking for dance help. To begin with she was super prompt about getting back to me and finding a time to discuss our needs. We told her we wanted to choreograph a dance for our wedding, but needed help from the song to the dance moves. I'd like to mention I have no dance experience, at all. Needless to say Lynn quickly was able to help me catch on to the moves using a great mixture of teaching styles: analogies, symbolism, visuals, drawings etc. Starting with a few basic moves and building on that, Lynn crafted the entire dance for us. Her true art is how on the fly she can make changes and suggestions based on our (more my) limitations until we had a masterpiece we were both comfortable performing. Lynn has a real gift for dancing it oozes through her. She has a very fun while still professional personality that make the dance lesson more then a lesson but a fun time for all. She knows what she's doing and I would recommend anyone hesitant about diving in to put your faith in her! We are so happy and had so much fun, we'll be signing up for more dance lessons post wedding. Thank you again Lynn!! read more

Before meeting Lynn, my husband and I were struggling with finding the good rhythm to master our first dance. We tried several youtube videos online but seemed out of luck. Not to mention, we were dealing with COVID-19 restrictions. There were few dance instructors who were teaching and those that were teaching, were not very flexible with their schedule or charged an arm and a leg. It was month #2 countdown to our wedding and Lynn was there to save the day! Our first communication with Lynn was very laid-back. She was so transparent, easy to talk to, and a great communicator. First, we purchased 3 set of 45 minutes and then another 5 set of 1-hour dance lessons with Lynn because we were very stressed out about our dance choreography. During our dance lessons, Lynn was very positive and her energy eased our anxiety. We realized that instead of "perfecting" the perfect first dance, we needed to make it fun, to make our first dance perfect. I am happy to say that our first dance choreography was a huge success! We highly recommend Lynn to everyone read more

My husband and I decided to try Lynn's dance classes earlier this year so we could learn how to dance together and feel comfortable at weddings, events, or even just at home. After 15 years of being together, we hadn't ever truly danced as a pair aside from some basic slow songs, and neither of us have a dance background of any kind. After months of practice, we now feel comfortable with twirls, dips, and a new one for the relationship-- my husband taking the lead! Lynn's studio is such a safe space to practice new things and be vulnerable, especially for inexperienced dancers like us. Lynn is an expert at vocalizing techniques, which is really helpful for different types of learners and meeting you at any level. She really connects with you to make sure you understand how to "feel" the moves and communicates in a way that works for you. She's the most empathetic teacher I could ever imagine. Lastly, I couldn't write this review without highlighting that you come away with so much more than dancing skills. Regardless of how the day went before each session with Lynn, we leave each class feeling more joyful, more connected, and armed with a better headspace. We secretly call Lynn's classes dance therapy because it really is! We had no idea that partner dance would have so many mental health benefits and create a new way for us to connect in our relationship. I can't recommend Lynn enough, and we are counting down the days for our next class! read more

Hiring Lynn for dance lessons before our wedding was absolutely one of the best decisions we made. If you're on the fence whatsoever about taking dance lessons or hiring Lynn, please take all of these rave reviews to heart. She really is an amazing teacher and it really is that fun to learn a dance with your partner. We chose Little Trip to Heaven by Tom Waits, and Lynn choreographed a beautiful dance that was elegant and elicited cheers from our family and friends :). My partner had never taken a dance class before, and although I had a bit of experience taking a few salsa lessons, I consider myself quite a novice, especially when it comes to partner dancing! Rest assured, you do not need any sort of formal experience. Lynn breaks everything down into digestible, bite sized chunks. We learned our entire dance in 3 lessons (with lots of fun practice time on our own in between), and took a 4th lesson to get everything polished. Our friends and family were blown away by our dance, and my partner and I are so proud of our performance. Somehow, the lessons were more than just dance lessons. With gentle encouragement and kindness, Lynn not only put us in the right mindset for dancing, but also for our entire wedding. She helped us learn how to laugh at little mistakes and reminded us that our wedding and our dance should be a fun, loving, and beautiful experience. When things would get stressful during wedding planning, my partner and I would often bring up the words of wisdom and encouragement Lynn shared with us about staying in a loving and accepting mindset. Her dance studios are also conveniently located and are warm and inviting. I am recommending her to all of my friends :). Thank you, Lynn!!! We will miss our lessons very much! read more

Like others, my wife and I were incredibly nervous to have to awkwardly perform a dance in front of all of our loved ones. We were anxious as can be. But from the very first meeting, Lynn helped us relax and really develop comfort with our movements and steps. By the end of the first lesson, we had already developed a micro-routine that we felt comfortable practicing daily, all on our own! As others know the stress of wedding planning can be monumental and there were days where we didn't feel like driving over to dance lessons. But we're always so glad we did. Every single time, we left with stress melted away, full of energy, and with renewed joy as a couple. Thank you so much Lynn, we had an amazing time learning from you! read more

We loved working with Lynn! About two weeks out from our wedding we looked at each other and thought: oops, the first dance! Lynn was able to schedule three lessons with us (including the same day we asked!) and worked wonders. More importantly, she was so supportive and helpful that it felt safe to try new things. She is an excellent teacher. Dancing is now a new favorite activity for us and we plan to go back for more lessons soon. read more

Lynn is very patient and capable! I can't say enough about how great she is to work with. And she makes it fun!

Lynn is an awesome teacher. I liked that she gauged our skill and drew up a solid game plan of our first dance for our upcoming wedding reception. The classes flowed well and we saw progress in just a short time with Lynn. Her passion comes through in her teaching, which makes the learning experience more enjoyable. Would definitely recommend her if you can use some more confidence in your dancing. read more

We had less than 6 weeks before our wedding day and we didn't have anything for our first dance. Just over a couple of weeks, Lynn taught us the basic of ballroom dancing and helped us choreograph our first dance to the song of our choice. She was very attentive and always ask for our feedback before and after every lesson. She is an amazing teacher who can communicate to us clearly and in a fun way using her little analogies and stories. She made sure every lesson was filled with fun and completely stress-free. We love how our first dance turned out and it wouldn't have been possible with Lynn. Thank you so much! read more

Wow talk about the best date ever! Lynn is by far the best teacher of all-time. She helped us feel comfortable and enthusiastic. She gave clear and well-timed instructions making our date 1 we will never forget. I am so grateful, because all I wanted to do was give my date A Night to Remember, and she made it happen for me. So Lynn if you're reading this, thank you. And if you're thinking about hiring Lynn to teach you how to dance, stop thinking about it and just do it. Learn With Lynn! - This is us before our private lesson. What a view! - Dance Studios Near Me

Lynn is hands down the best dance instructor you could hope to find in the Bay Area. My husband and I took 6 lessons from Lynn before our wedding and the entire process was fun and stress-free! Neither of us had any prior dance experience and we were nervous going into our lessons. But Lynn broke down each dance element in an easy-to-understand way and made the learning experience totally enjoyable! She was also very open to hearing what we wanted to get out of each lesson, and it was fun getting to put together different dance moves and practice to all sorts of fun music. Not only is Lynn an excellent teacher, she is also one of the kindest and most patient people we've ever met. There was zero judgement if we messed up, and she did a great job of giving us tips and reminders while also encouraging us to have fun with it. We looked forward to our lesson every week because we loved getting to spend time with Lynn and it was a great way to connect with each other as a couple. It's kind of like having a built in date night every week! Instead of being nervous at our wedding reception, we were able to relax and enjoy our first dance thanks to Lynn's teaching! We would highly recommend booking Lynn--ASAP! :) Thanks, Lynn! read more

AMAZING dance instructor - I can't say enough great things about Lynn. It's clear she's passionate about dance and her students. We had 3 hours worth of dance lessons with her and decided to tack on another hour to really perfect our wedding dance. Lynn made us feel extremely comfortable and excited to show off our dance moves at the wedding - she helped us with it all - ballroom dance, salsa and hip hop. Dance lessons with Lynn were easily the best part about wedding planning so far - super fun and it helped my partner and I rekindle that extra magic before the wedding. A wonderful gift of personalized dance lessons was given to us by my then fiance's Aunt (now husband!). Lynn was very generous with her time, worked towards our strengths, met us where we were skill-set wise, worked to clearly identify what we wanted from the practices, and didn't push us to be what we aren't, i.e. sexy, funny, classy, etc. I would highly recommend her to anyone! We were definitely beginners, and in just four lessons we felt confident and graceful on the dancefloor. My partner and I entered classes with Lynn looking for a dance instructor, and walked out having gained a friend. We learned some fun moves that impressed our guests at our wedding, but through our 6 lessons with Lynn, she also encouraged us to talk through the joys and challenges of the lessons and the first dance more broadly, and those discussions helped us process the 'why' of our first dance, in addition to the 'how.' The dance ultimately became one of our favorite parts of the wedding, largely because of Lynn. Highly recommend taking lessons with her! read more

If you are looking for any sort of dance instruction, please look no further! I gave my partner a series of dance lessons as a holiday present last year, and we are thrilled with it! Great gift idea. The lessons take place in one of two studios that Lynn uses, both of which are cozy, comfortable spaces for her to show you how it's done. Lynn has a great sense of figuring out right away what your skills are and what she can help you learn. Even though we are beginners, she is also constantly complimenting us, while also gently and directly show us how to do it right. Lynn is an expert at a variety of dance types. Lynn is a gem, and a truly terrific teacher! My husband and I decided to take salsa lessons to surprise our wedding guests at our wedding, and in a few weeks, with no social dancing experience, Lynn had taught us enough that we could do a choreographed salsa routine for our special day. Our wedding was ultimately cancelled because of COVID-19, but we had so much fun learning with Lynn and her patient and enthusiastic style that we decided to do a few more lessons. Lynn has an outdoor studio so that you can practice social distancing and still have a fantastic dance lesson! We learned the hustle and more salsa in just a few more weeks, and being able to break the boredom of quarantine with some fun dance lessons was truly enjoyable. Lynn is a wonderful teacher, and even during COVID-19, we learned so much and had such a fun time. Highly recommended for anyone, regardless of dance experience. read more

Lynn is amazing! She has such a kind, gentle, and confident style to the way she teaches. My fiance and I were very nervous about dancing at our wedding, but Lynn made us feel sooooo much better. I'm echoing what everyone else said. Lynn is an incredible teacher: patient, kind, able to break it down to easy to follow steps. Lynn is an amazing dance instructor. My fiance (now my wife!!!) and I took a few lessons from Lynn for our wedding's first dance. She helped us pick our dance style and song. Within a few lessons, we learned 6-7 moves and a few transition moves to connect them. Then we put all of these together for our dance routine. Most importantly she helped us be relaxed and really enjoy dancing. I'm pretty shy and I have no experience dancing and was pretty nervous about dancing in front of people. After a few lessons with Lynn, I was excited to show off our dance moves. After our dance we got many comments from our wedding guests on how happy we looked during our dance and how wonderful our dance was. In a family video of our dance you can hear a guest say "they must've taken lessons" :) All that is thanks to Lynn. Absolutely wonderful experience and great results. Happy to learn that she does dance dates. My wife and I will definitely be going back for those! read more

My fiance and I took classes from Lynn to practice for the first dance at our wedding. Lynn is a great teacher, super sweet, and makes dancing fun. Even at the end of the first group lesson, we already picked up many moves and felt much more confident for the wedding! The group lessons became a fun weekly activity for my fiance and I. We also did one private lesson to help choreograph and match the moves we'd learned in the group lessons more specifically to our first dance song. Thank you Lynn so much for the fantastic dance lessons! read more

I didn't want a BORING first dance like ALL of the ones I've seen at other weddings. I wanted my first dance to shine and wow the guests. I am uncoordinated, a big clutz, AND I have a short term memory. My family told me that I wouldn't be able to do it. My mom cringed during my first dance, hoping I wouldn't trip so that she'd have to hide her face under the table. My biggest fear for taking dance lessons was that I would have a big mean jerk as an instructor that would lash out on me and give up. I've had people become frustrated with me due to my lack of coordination. If you have that same fear....Lynn is here! During our first lesson, she took the time to find out who we were and what we we wanted. Lynn told us to walk how we would walk at the wedding. She assessed the severity of the situation. She then told us how to do it correctly and gave us etiquette lessons and how to walk properly like ladies and gentlemen. We never even thought about how we would walk at the wedding. I'm glad she showed us! It made a difference - we walk elegantly now. =) Lynn is awesome! She is our favorite vendor and we are so glad that we found her. She's so sweet, upbeat and positive, and doesn't scare us. =) Her private studio is a comfortable learning environment where we could be ourselves and not worry about being judged. We laughed and had so much fun with her. She's taught kids before, so she has ways of helping us visualize how we should be moving. At one point, I was bouncing an imaginary crazy ball with squishy feet. I am a difficult student to have, so she changed her teaching methods in ways to help me learn. Lynn could see when I didn't understand and wasn't mean about it. She had me wear a big puffy black skirt over my jeans so I feel like I'm wearing my wedding dress and my fiance wouldn't see my feet move. That helped a lot! Repetition is key, especially since I will forget things in 3 minutes. I took about 1.5 months of lessons, 1-2 times a week. It was well worth it! We highly recommend Lynn! Your first dance should NOT be boring. It should be memorable and NOT something that makes your guests play on their smart phones for 4 minutes. Why be lame when you can be awesome?? We wowed everyone. All eyes were on us b/c we were so cool. =P It was one of the highlights of our wedding. Who knew we could do a choreographed dance? Don't be afraid of stepping out of your comfort zone. Lynn believed in us and we did great. She could help anyone that truly wants it and will put in the effort. WE LOVE YOU LYNN! =) read more
