I continued to bring up my concern over the last 7-8 months. I relayed that I was going to have to report it as we are very sensitive and today got a phone call that we need to part ways. I am being forced to remove my daughter from this facility because I refuse to accept an opinion without adequate air sample test throughout the building...... they have decided they will not pay for air test and that without even testing the air my worries are unfounded. this concerns me as a parent who values my child's environment.I have pictures of the vents.... I'm shocked that I was told that their primary focus is the safety of the children but they refused to supply an air sample..... that is in reality NOT putting the children first but rather settling on an opinion that may be wrong instead of being thorough..... the most careful and cautious decision is to remove my daughter and give me no say in the matter. caring for the children first would in fact be obtaining that sample and not whimsically going off an unfounded opinion. im shocked!

We came to GCS during his high school portion, and what a change it has been for him, on the highest of praise. The school has been attentive towards his educational needs, social interactions as well as tending to all the students and faculty spiritually. We were not sure how he/me was going to adjust but seeing all the friends, his grades improving and how the school really comes together as a family, it was one of the best transitions that we could have ever asked for. Barry and Becky McKeen really have a tight handle on the school, and the interaction/level they have with the parents and students is VERY impressive. I highly suggest that if you have not looked into GCS for your child, that you begin to do so...if there is room. You will be happy for all that GCS will provide for you and your child(ren).

I'm very disappointed with our overall experience and especially with how our account and refund…read morerequest have been handled. There were several concerns during our time at this daycare. We experienced situations where teachers were yelling at children, as well as concerns about adequate supervision. On multiple occasions, my child came home with bite marks. I understand that accidents can happen in a childcare setting, but repeated incidents raised concerns for us about supervision and how these situations were being handled. We also had concerns with classroom management and communication. At one point, my child became so uncomfortable that he was crying and saying he was scared to go to daycare. We ultimately requested a classroom change, and our experience improved significantly with different teachers. We had some wonderful teachers who were kind and caring, and we appreciated them very much. Unfortunately, our most recent issue has been financial. We provided more than the required two-week notice and were previously given a $260 vacation credit for two weeks our child was absent in March. Based on the attendance, tuition, credit, and payments made, there appears to be an overpayment of approximately $256.41. I have provided the daycare with a detailed explanation and calculation and have repeatedly tried to resolve this directly. I have also specifically requested an explanation from the regional director regarding why this matter has not been addressed. I was told by the school director that the regional director has access to all of my emails and the relevant Procare information, yet she has not addressed the matter with me directly. What is particularly frustrating is that I was told by Mrs. Kayla that she believes I am simply asking for a refund of an unused vacation credit. That is not what I am requesting. The $260 vacation credit was already applied to my account and was part of the calculation when determining what I owed. The issue is the resulting account balance and apparent overpayment after applying the credit and accounting for the days my child actually attended. If the regional director has reviewed the emails and Procare records, I would expect the information to clearly show what I am actually disputing. I have asked for a straightforward explanation of how the final balance was calculated, but I have yet to receive one. I even offered an alternative resolution--using the amount toward several days of individual care if issuing a refund was administratively difficult. Overall, our experience has been very mixed. We had teachers who genuinely cared about our child, and we are grateful for them. However, the concerns regarding supervision, repeated biting incidents, teachers yelling at children, communication, and now the handling of an apparent overpayment have left us very disappointed. I'm sharing our experience so other parents can make an informed decision and, importantly, carefully keep track of attendance, payments, credits, and communications regarding their child's care. I will update when I hear back from the Regional Director about the refund.

By 1903, two small schools, Bledsoe and Pleasant Grove, were combined and moved to a new two story building on the southwest corner of Highway 60 and Turkey Creek Road. The school didn't have air-conditioning in the building at that time, and teachers would open windows and vents to let air flow from classroom to classroom. In 1908 the first class of three students graduated from the new school. In 1927, a new 2-story brick building was completed. High school courses were added to the Turkey Creek School with a senior high graduating class in 1932. The Turkey Creek School like many schools in eastern Hillsborough County, was known as a strawberry school because it operated on a schedule based on the winter strawberry growing season. Strawberry schools closed for three months during the strawberry picking season in the winter rather than in the summer like most US schools. This practice was ended in 1956. Plant city is still known for its strong ties to strawberries. The Strawberry Festival held every March is one of the top festivals in the country. In 1972 the Turkey School closed but it is still owned by the Hillsborough County School District. The junior high school was converted into a middle school in 1995. In 1997 the building was saved from demolition and being turned into a parking lot. On March 2, 2001, it was added to the US National Register of Historic Places. A hstoric marker was erected outside the school in 2016 by the Hillsborough County Historical Advisory Council, Turkey Creek High School Alumni. The building currently stands empty as the school district struggles to find funds to finish restoring the building. If money was not an issue they would like to use the building as a library.

On the morning of May 22, my husband, and I changed our toddler's diaper before drop-off. At that time, his skin was completely clear with no diaper rash or irritation. KinderCare documents his last diaper change that day occurred at 3:15 p.m. He remained at the facility until approximately 6:15 p.m. that evening. Upon pickup, we returned home (3 minutes away) and changed his diaper, as we routinely do after pickup regardless of recent diaper changes. At that time, we observed the diaper change time written on his diaper as 3:15 p.m., consistent with KinderCare's practice of writing diaper change times directly on diapers with permanent marker. We observed blood in his diaper area; that his skin was no longer clear, unlike at the time of drop-off that day. The rapid development of this condition raised immediate concerns regarding the care he received while at KinderCare. The resulting diaper rash that progressed to raw, bleeding skin lasted 8 to 10 days. Staff informed me that the practice of writing diaper change times on diapers was implemented to ensure accountability and address prior concerns regarding diaper changing. This policy was introduced during the tenure of the current director, who is the third director I have observed during my child's enrollment. My concerns were not limited to a single incident. My husband and I sent separate messages on the app regarding concerns. Neither message received acknowledgment or response. Then, I received an email stating that I had not provided sufficient notice and would be billed accordingly. At that time, my access to the daycare app had also been disabled, preventing further communication or review of account messages through the platform. I am requesting that KinderCare: Waive any tuition, withdrawal fees, or additional charges related to my immediate withdrawal following these care concerns. Release my child's photographs immediately upon arrival or confirm they will not be withheld. Review the circumstances surrounding my child's care, including the diaper rash incident. Provide a written response addressing the concerns raised in this complaint. My primary concern is not solely the billing dispute, but whether the facility is providing an appropriate standard of care, maintaining adequate staffing, and responding appropriately when serious concerns are raised by parents regarding a child's health and well-being. I will be escalating this continuously through all available external resources. For documentation and legal purposes, please acknowledge receipt of this complaint and provide a written response addressing the concerns raised. If this matter is being referred to another department or investigator, please provide that information in writing as well. As of now, no one has responded to my multiple attempts to resolve this matter. KinderCare center is 301139. I look forward to your written response.

She constantly had to defend herself from bullies, which left her anxious and withdrawn. During this time, she developed night terrors and behavior issues she had never experienced before. The atmosphere did not feel nurturing. Some teachers seemed disengaged, and my daughter was even fearful of certain staff members. On one occasion, while we were at the pool next door, a regular visitor mentioned that they frequently heard teachers yelling at children inappropriately. That was very unsettling to hear as a parent. The facility itself also felt lacking--children don't have adequate cubby space, and there are odd, inconsistent rules that don't make sense. The front office staff were often dismissive and unapproachable, which made communication very frustrating. I regret not removing my daughter sooner. Once we switched her to a different daycare, all of her issues disappeared within weeks--she began sleeping through the night again, her behavior improved, and she was once more her happy, confident self. Every child deserves to feel safe, cared for, and supported at daycare. Unfortunately, that was not our experience at Child's Haven.
