I had both my daughter & son at Leap & Bound. While the program claims to prepare kids for kindergarten, my experience was awful. In a class of 4- to 5-year-olds, teachers insisted my son was the only one who didn't listen--the only one who had to be scolded every single day. They were punitive, relied on constant scolding, & used negative instead of positive reinforcement. I recall going on a tour through the school since my daughter had gone there during preschool & kindergarten & one of the teachers turned to my daughter, who was now 10 years old, and said, "I remember you. You were a bad kid." She said this during a tour! I should've known not to have my son go there. No, she wasn't joking. She was serious. My daughter is very well-behaved. So, when my 4-year-old son went there, the daily complaints created HUGE anxiety for us as parents. They made us feel like there was something wrong with our son. Nothing was wrong with him. After moving into a new house & to a new school, it was night & day. His new teacher calls him attentive, well-behaved, a great listener & is a great student. Clearly, the issue wasn't my son--it was the teachers. Teachers at Leap & Bound can be bullies to certain kids while playing favorites with others. I do not recommend this school. Not to mention, they continue to raise their price. Warning: If you send your child here, there is a high likelihood that you will receive daily complaints through their parent app portal, which can cause immense stress. It is VERY unhealthy for a child to be constantly rebuked when they're simply acting their age. A 4-year-old has lots of energy. They can squirm in their seat. Big deal. Yelling at them every day is NOT healthy education. It is ABUSE! If these teachers can't handle 4-year-olds, then they shouldn't be teaching children! read more

My son has been at this school for two years. They had some teachers move to their Torrance location and things changed a lot at this location. When he joined the school I let Diana know who is the owner, that he has autism and we will be getting a behavioral therapist to work with him at school. She was completely okay with this. The first few months being there he was with a wonderful teacher, Ms. DeJahnae. She was great with teaching students on how to behave, he never had an incident in her class because all her students knew to behave. He the transferred to Ms. Mary's class and in the first week there was pushing and pinching. Ms. Diana reached out to say she doesn't know what the difference is but they will figure it out to help him transition better. They did figure it out. Ms. Mary was a lot nicer and all the kids tend to act out. By this time we had a part time ABA therapist with him and she let us know that the class was all boys and they all acted out which of course my son followed along. But if the therapist could not make it to the school Ms. Mary knew how to handle him and help him with whatever he needed. Fast forward to last summer. We were told he needed to be a full time student to move on to Ms. Sues class which we agreed to because he loves Ms. Sue. Well we find out through our therapist that Ms. Sue isn't his teacher. I should mention that our therapist became full time with him at this point. If he was there so was she, unless she was sick. Ms. Lilli turned out to be his new teacher and she never interacted with him. His ABA let us know that if she didn't work with him on class work that no one would. She also let us know that she was the only one helping him potty train. Which we pay for. I had to email the owners on this one. They responded and said their staff is suppose to help with this. The most they helped with after that email was changing him since his ABA is not allowed too. But when it came to actual potty training his ABA was doing it. He eventually got it down pretty well at school. Just recently if he came to school with out his ABA his teacher would turn us away quoting "they don't have enough help anymore" which is a problem for us because my husband and I both work full time. I sent an email to Charles the other owner to discuss this in November. He claimed we will have a meeting and we never did. Fast forward to Feb of this year it happened again. So we finally set a meeting time. That did not go well at all. One major thing is the school doesn't tolerate biting. My son is non verbal but in speech classes making progress. He has had incidents with biting. One he did out of no where and was sent home for the day. Another time they called to tell me a kid was constantly bothering him and no one stopped the other child who turns out to also be autistic but doesn't have a ABA at the school with him. My son bit this kid but they didn't send him home stating it was their own fault for not stopping the other child. The therapist he has at school was there and witness it. She didn't stop it in time because she was across the room letting him play on his own. The teacher wasn't watching. A lot of incidents would accrue because of the lack of teachers and their care. I can't tell you how many times I walked in to drop him off and the entire class is running around and the teacher is coloring with one student. Or how I have seen a kid push my son and wait for a reaction from him. This has happen multiple times. He is non verbal and cannot explain these things. But if he reacts by biting he is in trouble. I tried to address these issues with the school but the owner was extremely rude over the phone. He told us we need a full time shadow or he cannot be in the school. He said he didn't have time to argue or address any of our concerns. When I said no one has ever told us that he needed someone full time all the time, he basically said I was lying but couldn't provide who told us this. I also mentioned how he was at the school for maybe 5 months without a therapist and it wasn't an issue. He didn't want to discuss that. Just kept saying they have had too many incidents and didn't want to talk about my concerns. So we pulled him out of the school. When asked to wave the two weeks notice you must give he said no. I stated it isn't our fault that they are giving us this new rule and we cannot follow it. We don't have someone who can shadow if his ABA cannot make it. He got angry and said he will unenroll him and hung up. I have not received our deposit back. We paid this place over $15,000 last year and that's how he responds. I also found out that the school had an incident last year that they were told to report to every parent that has a child currently enrolled. A teacher was restraining students and covering their mouths to keep them from crying. I found this on the social services state site. We were never told this. This school has a major lack of communication problem! read more

Was so excited to get my 3 year old enrolled in here, toured the place my daughter loved it ( she's 3 ) until the lady who was giving me the tour was getting irritated my daughter wanted to go to the playground? Said they're concerned for her safety because she wouldn't stay still and if I'm not there who would take care of her? Like is that not what you're there for and I will be paying you for ? She's literally 3 years old, never been in school which is why I wanted to enroll her, to get her on a curriculum and make her transition easier next year. The teachers were so nice I even spoke to the teacher that would be assigned to her, she let me know how you all the kiddos in her class room were just like My daughter at first and now they follow protocol no problem. My husband, kids and I love Leap and Bound! My first daughter has been there since she was 4 months old and is now 2 1/2 and she thrives there! Her speaking skills are ahead of her age and I'm surprised everyday with the knowledge she comes home with. My son has been attending the infant class in Torrance since he was 5 months, the teachers are amazing. They are loving and caring, most importantly my baby seems happy. Ms. Erin and her team run a very good day care program we've been sending our daughter to, through the past year and have no complaints. They're great with their communication to parents, keep the children busy and having fun with play time and learning activities, send out daily updates etc. They are wonderful working with, understanding and supportive of things that come up in the lives of working parents. Both my kids have been going there off and on for at least 4 years now. They are very good at preparing the kids for kindergarten. They follow the individual learning curve of the different kids to adapt to their age and level. My kids have always enjoyed the food that is served. My daugther started attending Ms.May class around November of 2018. She just came from Mongolia and couldn't speak English. She was 2years old. She started learning everyday new words, alphabets, numbers and colors... after 5month we had to leave USA and we were 6month in my country. During that time my litlle girl missed so much Ms.May and school. Also she learned a lot and speaks english well. Now my son is attending Ms.May class, who is 2 years old. I am soooo happy I found LBA this past summer, my son is 2 and he had never been away from me so I was weary of the transition. I'm so glad for his teacher Ms.Norma who offered him lots of reassurance everyday and Ms. DeJahnae who would lay down with him to offer him comfort of napping in a brand new environment. Sometimes it would even take him an hour to nap and still the patience of the staff was there. My husband and I are confident that our son is getting TLC along with a strong curriculum. They have learned songs, shapes and numbers already. If you're looking for a great place to leave you little one, look no further! They also have a drive thru drop off (Redondo location) and they're a nut free facility. My suggestion would be to set up a meeting and see for yourself! Also, incentive alert! Leap and Bound Academy is a nurturing Pre-School with loving teachers. My 2 year old started LBA this past summer with 3 half days and let me tell ya...it wasn't easy for us to drop him off that first week of school but my husband and I felt comforted in knowing he was getting individual attention and extra hugs on his transition. Now he walks into his classroom with confidence and has made many new friends....PLUS demanded to go to school an extra day (SAY WHAT??!) so we enrolled him in 4 half days! His teacher Ms. Norma is extremely caring and the other teachers: Ms. Megan, Ms. Danielle, Ms. Sue, Ms. Lopez, Ms. May, and Ms. December are equally amazing. The administration, Ms. Dejahnae and Ms. Victoria are incredible communicators and through the app--CLASS DOJO, parents get daily updates with their child's progress, class pictures, and school happenings. It's important for me to also call out LBA's attention to food allergies. My son is extremely allergic to nuts and dairy and the school's nut-free policy is greatly appreciated and managed. I know, as a former elementary school teacher, how challenging it can be to provide individual instruction and care but LBA handles this with ease and open ears. My son always comes home singing new songs, counts to 10, and can say the ABCs up to the letter G ;) LBA lays the proper foundation for lifelong learning and sparking curiosity. Miss Jeong showed exceptional kindness to my son when he needed extra care during his initial days. Miss DeJahnea is fantastic and manages a wonderful program. The open-concept building allows the children to get to know each other, and there's ample time dedicated to outdoor play. Miss Inoka did an excellent job preparing my son for kindergarten, covering letters, numbers, and phonics. In the STEM class, led by teacher Hunter on Tuesdays and Thursdays, my child is exposed to concepts that I never learned at that age and we always left talking about science. Our daughter Ava started attending Leap and Bound nearly a year ago and we couldn't be more impressed and grateful to this school for their support and care. Teachers - the teachers are incredible - Ms. Djoni got her to finally be fully potty trained! Ms May has taught her all her colors and lots of fun songs. Tuition freeze / Flexibility - since the coronavirus pandemic has started, Leap & Bound have been incredibly generous in allowing parents to pause tuition if they don't feel comfortable attending. I don't know of many other daycares that would offer such flexibility, and we are extremely grateful to them for that flexibility during this difficult time. Cleanliness - L&B is exceptionally careful about health and have always done temperature checks for all kids prior to entering the building (even before the pandemic started) and keep a very clean facility. Since attending Leap and Bound, Ava hasn't been sick once (which is pretty unheard of for a daycare.) We still can't believe it. Cost - compared to other daycares in the neighborhood, we find L&B to be very fairly priced. They don't close for any summer holidays, and are open for many other holidays. Wow wow wow. If you care for your child please read!!!! Short story: Diana is a terrible and very rude person. She made me cry for how nasty she is, and I am a mom who was just attending a tour to potentially enroll my boy in daycare. She layed a hand on me and pushed me. She is lucky I didnt press charges. There is a reason why all the good preschools only have wait list, and this is the only one that is available. That was a red flag for me in the beginning. When she laid a hand on me to push me, I didn't even say anything because I am not a rude person and I let it slide (unfortunately, this was before the harrasment) . So how are the kids being treated here? Horrible communication, she is not about making parents comfortable. You will feel her energy when and God forbid you meet her and through her Emails. God forbid you ask her any extra questions through the emails (like itinerary, or seeing a class etc) because when we met, she started saying, I quote" YOU ARE REDICULOUSE, I THOUGHT YOU WERE A FAKE MOM WITH A FAKE CHILD" are you kidding meeee???!! A person who gets hot and cold like that must be on meds. I was nice and patient the whole time. Even when I suspected odd behavior. Please read the long story of you really want to know details. I would listen to the horrible reviews. Long story: I first call Diana and she answers the phone with a loud dog barking in the background. OK so she does business from home, not very professional but overlooked it. Then we start emailing each other. I asked her questions like can I see the class she said no because of covid, i accepted. I asked for the itinerary, she gives me a wierd pushback. Then I asked if I can see the class outside for 20 through the window, she said no only 5in. I said OK fine. I was pretty flexible to see if this will work out. With an open mind. She sends me the times and days she is available. I schedule it within the time she has given me which was 3pm, then I get I quote "OK I can't because I need car service. Umm OK it was listed In your email. Again the next one I try to schedule. Again she is busy with whatever CAN'T. (at this point I have been very patient with her) by the way her tone this whole time has not been anything like welcoming or kind. She's treating it like military, just very cold and indifferent. She knows that I want to see two locations. The first time we tried to schedule this it was for both. When it had to be rescheduled (because of her car or cat or whatever & I wasn't sure if I needed to confirm both locations or just one) I thought she was going to be smart enough to maybe double-check with me etc. Finally we set the schedule I get a "woo-hoo" message from her. I actually was surprised. When I met her she she told me that she said that because she was mocking me. THE FUN Part!! So I finally meet her ( and I'm in a very nice sweet kind of mood, flexible and willing to work with people). she asked to see my boy walking. I asked her what is she looking for in the assessment for kids in general. There is an awkward silence pause like that's the craziest question I should ever ask. Very weird but I dismissed it. She talks and talks and talks and talks. And she makes it seem like she's very militant with the children. She has absolutely no parents can go in the room for covid. I absolutely respect that. She told me she wanted me to put my son in the room with the other kids. Now where the doorway is the kids are very far on the other side of the room. I only take one step through the doorway to put my son down and Diana had the audacity as I was putting my son down and bent over she pulled my shoulder back and push me and said "NO PARENTS ALLOWED!" in aharsh voice. It is illegal to lay your hands on anyone. But guess what I still kept my calm cool and Collective oh, and I didn't even address it I just dismissed it. (I should have said something, but I wanted to pay my respect to the elder, and I want what's best for my son). In a very non-committal way I just asked her if we were still going to go to the other location ( I was ready to express to her if not that's okay oh, I can come back another day for the other location not a problem) before I even had a chance to do that, she started calling me "REDICULOUSE" over and over and over. She started calling me FAKE MOM and that she thought I had a FAKE CHILD" I mean what kind of business is she in that she would even think this way. I still didn't even say anything to her negative oh, I was so appalled and shocked that someone could treat me this way, a mom that was just trying to enroll her kid into school. I just lifted my hand and told her to stop, I said we're done and bye. That's it. I wish I had said more to her to her face. I'm going to spread the word about the school. My son started at Leap and Bound 2 years ago and I only have good thinks to say about the school. The teachers are nice and caring, office staff and the principal is also very nice. Luca has Ms. Norma as his teacher. She is a really good teacher and she has a good balance between discipline and caring. We love her. All of the other teachers are great and helpful too. Very concerned parent here and I've voiced so many incidents that seem to be brushed off. There are so many good schools in the area I'm not sure what we should do as LBA is affordable but they do not seem to want to increase staff for the children's safety and well being. Some incidences: I've seen on two occasions lately, the Teacher:Student ratio being under than the CA state requirement. Each classroom of 12 students has 1 teacher. This leaves no room for error when teachers are sick, etc. as the director has to fill in as a teacher on most days lately. (I've been told today on 4/7 that they are hiring 2 teaching aides and they've finally replaced one of the Pre-K teachers upstairs) The playground seriously lacks the amount of observation necessary to keep things safe. Injuries continue to occur on the playground and I have a list on my phone of the incidences that have occurred without my receiving incident reports. You have to keep bringing up your concerns to the administration or they won't even have you on their radar. My daughter kept getting injured so now all eyes are focusing on her on the playground, whereas ALL the children should be watched carefully. When I pulled into the driveway to pick up one afternoon, I witnessed a child punching my child in the chest on the playground. No teacher was there. I went to confront the nearest teacher, who was braiding another child's hair and she provided an ambivalent response with an attitude and said "ugh, sorry!" as my bringing this to her attention was irritating to her. (she no longer works there) My child has been bitten by another child with visible teeth marks. My child told me what boy bit her. None of the teachers saw this happen. Obviously no incident report since no one saw it. A child that was "shooting guns" with their fingers in other children's faces, biting, hitting, punching, etc. had more than 1 dozen chances before we had to bring this to the attention of the management. Why was he given so many chances? What made him special? Why was he still enrolled? He left about 2 weeks after parents began pointing this out. ------- The teachers are overworked and are fatigued. These poor teachers. They need assistance, 12- 3 year olds and 2 year olds are a handful. I know incidents happen. It's unavoidable. But these teachers can only do so much with 12 children (sometimes 14) and after 9 hours, I would be checked out mentally. But that's why I can't do their job. Mentally draining. Most times when I drop off any time between 9:30 and 11 AM I hadn't been seeing any learning or reading, just kids playing with toys. Leap and Bound needs to operate as a business that in actuality does put the children's safety as paramount priority. I know you pride yourselves on being affordable. But that doesn't mean operate with the absolute minimum state requirements in order to do so, if the staffing is not yielding good outcomes. I shouldn't have a list in my phone of incidences, and I know my child is not the only one this happens to. I've mentioned my concerns on a Mom's Facebook group and a number of mothers from this location and other LBA locations have messaged me with similar issues. LBA seemed great in the beginning and everyone is well-meaning, but raise the tuition about $100 a month for everyone and staff it properly rather than keep things tight. Our children are worth it. Other local schools with tuition rates being a couple hundred bucks more require double the educational requirements of teachers and also provides a 1:10 MINIMUM ratio even though the state requires 1:12. Do better and you will be better. I do appreciate the effort Miss Susan has made lately to address my concerns, but this has been a long time coming. I've been logging incidents since August 2016, and I've only recently gotten more attention from the administration. They are trying to do better, but I just am exhausted from this and my child is now terrified of school - at 3 years old. She's scared. She's literally scared of this school and asks me every 1 hour if I'm finding her a new school. She asks me "where are we going after nighttime?" and I say "we're going to school." Her response breaks my heart, "I don't want to go to that school, I want to go to a new school mommy, I'm scared of that school!" I was at a Moms Group meeting the other night and I was talking about my issues. A mom mentioned she was looking for a 5-day a week program to enroll her child in. She asked where my child went and I told her. Instantly she said "oh heck no. When I visited one day those teachers looked way too stressed and everything seemed way too crazy!" As an RN, I know what it feels like to be understaffed at the minimum on my unit. Nurse satisfaction and patient satisfaction incrementally improves when you improve your staffing numbers. It's common sense. Your kids will be safer and your parents will be happier. You will have a better reputation in the community read more

I would like to commend LBA Redondo Beach for their compassion and for providing an enriching educational experience for our three kids. Our rumbunctious twins are especially a handful but the entire LBA staff administer daily doses of patience and TLC and for that we are eternally grateful! I especially want to praise Ms. Dejahnae who has taken over at the helm this past year with grace and the utmost professionalism! Among her many accomplishments is she has led a school-wide effort to organize the classroom layouts as well update the flooring. I have also noticed a significant improvement in all aspects of the school's curriculum. Also, there aren't enough words to convey how amazing of a teacher Miss Sue is as we have seen our daughter scholastically flourish in the past year! We will miss her when Layla takes off to kindergarten. I would highly recommend this preschool. Did I mention the awesome drive through drop off?!? read more

My son absolutely loves LBA and so do we. The teachers there are amazing. Miss Mary, Miss. Mitra, and Ms. Michelle showed our son so much love and treated him with lots of kindness and compassion. He loves going to school and we know he's receiving the best pre-school academics. He loves going to STEAM class and learning about the environment around him. My son, who is a picky eater, loves all of the meals that Chef José prepares. We would highly recommend LBA for local families that are looking for an academic preschool with child care. read more

Honestly I spoke on the phone with the owner for less than five minutes and instantly knew this wouldn't be the place for us. It's not a great sign that they have openings immediately when other places have waitlists and more screening criteria. Then having all these parameters about screening and just weird fees. My son started attending Ms. May's class at the Redondo Beach location around April of 2019. It's been almost one year since we walked thru the door for the first time and we have seen so many improvements with our son, especially with his vocabulary (he had a speech delay and was attending speech therapy before starting LBA) and in little less than two months not only he started talking, but is also coming home everyday with new vocabulary, naming shapes, colors, singing new songs and etc. Ms. May is an amazing teacher, so caring, loving and patience with our son since day one. She also keep us updated on my son's activities thru the app pretty much everyday. I really love her more for that!! We pulled our son out after a month. He had bad separation anxiety, but little was done to redirect or console him. After I approached the director seeking solutions, she let me know she laid into her staff, deeming that unacceptable. That was not really the response or solution I was looking for, but OK. He dreaded going to school every single day he went there. Things got a little better after I approached the director, but there were other issues. The space is funky, and they always seemed to be right at ratio. Our son never had a cubby set up for him. The outdoor space is small. They tested him on his letter recognition and said he was lagging. Sorry, he's f-ing 2. Oh, and they overcharged me twice (auto-bank withdrawal) then tried to get out of repaying my security deposit by saying I didn't give required 15 days notice (I did). My son is much happier now at his new school. I'd go one star but a couple teachers, particularly Miss Ashley, were nice and caring. I think the problems lie in admin. Pro tip: if you treat your employees well, they'll treat the kids well. read more

My son used to go to this facility at Redondo. I pulled him out couple months back due to the unhygienic environment and rudeness of administration . The facility is small and some teachers are good but the administration is just horrible. They basically overcharge for anything and everything. The administration is just ridiculous and very rude especially Victoria and Dejahnae. It is overpriced for the services they offer and very inconsiderate in every manner. My daughter has been attending L&B for the last year and loves it. She started at 2 yrs old and was very limited in her language skills. The teachers have been very attentive to her needs and provide me with daily feedback. My daughter is now very talkative, can say and recognize her ABCs, shapes and colors. With that said, I really love that the toddler class is more focused on play and social skills over everything else. My daughter loves 'school' and we look forward to keeping her here through kindergarten. read more

2.5 Stars I have put off writing this review for 6 months out of guilt and unease, but every time they pop up on my bookmarks with their stellar rating I am dismayed. Leap and Bound did not have a waiting list when my friend and I pulled our kids from another program when they left my child on the playground without adult supervision on accident and did NOT inform me. Leap and Bound's afternoon price was so super cheap, we enrolled them twice a week so we could have 2 afternoons off to do our own thing. POSITIVES: I felt my son was safe! This was my biggest concern, and this is why I had him attend here for 6 months until the amazing school he is at now had an opening for him. His teacher Ms. Djoni is a very nice lady who took his egg allergy seriously. You can tell some of the teachers truly LOVED the kids. I really appreciate them. Our kids really liked it here because they said they just free played all day. We are both SAHM, so it was their only time away from us all week with none of our rules. They wanted to stay at school and keep playing. NEGATIVES: His age 2 curriculum was seriously lacking. I am talking about painting, art and crafts, music, etc. It just was not there. Compared to his new school... Well they do not even compare. The curriculum for his age was so seriously lacking that I was happy when he got to play with play dough. I am not exaggerating. When they moved up to the bigger kids class, their curriculum seemed forced and dull. They get a lot of flack for their regimented, sit down and write letters teaching style. It actually caused my friend's daughter to want to STOP learning at home because of the way they were teaching. In sharp contrast...Both of our kids are THRIVING and learning like crazy at their CURRENT school. The teachers are amazing. There are 3 teachers for 19 kids max. I get daily photos and a report about their day. They have legit outside vendor sports class, gymnastics and music. I feel like it is a world of difference, and my friend and I would never consider going backwards. I did not feel they took his food allergy seriously upstairs. I complained about their lack of caring. I supervised snack time and would not have felt comfy leaving him upstairs during lunch if he attended during the day. His current school has photos of the kids with their allergies right next to them. He outgrew his serous egg allergy, but his school still calls me if they are unsure. Lack of toys. The toys they do have are hand me downs. My son's new school has a classroom filled with educational toys. They pull out different building toys each day. He does activities like paper mache, painting, baking, music, sports class, learning to write letters with paint/in rice/with shaving cream/, etc. He experienced NONE of this at Leap and Bound. His current class has 3 teachers at all times, so I think they can really help each other out. The black rubber foam outside is DISGUSTING. I do not miss my son being covered with stuck on grime every time I went to pick him up. The classroom was unappealing with broken cabinets, dripping hole in the ceiling for weeks, dirty bookshelves, etc. Miss Vee's classroom is the exception. That one is really nice. Miss Vee also was very high energy and seemed to truly interact with the kids. The table was not big enough to fit all the kids, so 3 kids at a time were singled out from the big table. (Usually our 2 kids and 1 friend, since they arrived in the afternoon) There was no cubby for our kids to put their belongings despite being in the school for 6 months. I was NOT impressed with his age 3 teacher (had her for a month). I read all these good reviews on Yelp about her, but my friend and I would never have left our kids in that classroom. I also did not appreciate that we were not informed that his classroom had switched until we got to school and no one knew where he should go. One of the teachers upstairs is super nice. I can't remember her name, but she always made my son feel welcomed. Her, I would have been the most happy with. Another teacher upstairs seemed super unengaged and uninterested--her I would have pulled him out immediately. Bottom Line: I would personally not choose this school unless in a pinch. If your child is very young, it is okay for daycare a couple of times a week. I do feel that the most important element of safety is good at this school. P.S.- One of the 5 star reviews I can vouch is legit because she is the mom that told me about this school. She loved Ms. Djoni, and that is the reason I enrolled my son. P.S.S.- I still feel guilty writing this review because there are nice teachers here, nice parents, nice supervisor and the kids did enjoy their time there, but at the same time I feel parents need to know a well-rounded perspective instead of strangely glowing reviews. read more

First of all, I like Leap and Bound Academy and my kid goes to the one of 2 Torrance locations. But the reason I am giving 1 star (since that is lowest I can give here) for THIS LOCATION specifically is that how we started out here (or almost did). This review is not just toward one person, but whole staff for not communicating with each other and not seem to care about my son during tour, sit in, and application process. I went to all 3 locations and decided to land on this location since I liked going to Redondo Beach. So I was told that I can sit in during class for couple hours with my son one day and observe. So I had couple hours sit in the class on Friday couple months ago, then I told them I will sign up my kid on following Monday morning. On Monday morning, I had square bin with clothes for my kid and lunch and immunization record and ready to sign them check to start my son 's 1st day. I went to meet with Victoria who I met the week before and told her that I am coming in to sign up. She was going through the application I filled out and then suddenly got a phone call. Then she told me that they don't have AVAILABILITY . I am speechless and wasn't sure WTH was going on. I was obviously thinking why was I not told earlier especially since I was at the school on Friday for hours.. Supposedly she didn't know that they were filled since she wasn't in the office since Wednesday and they didn't tell her. WTH did others including DIRECTOR who was there on Friday with class think I was doing there with my son? So I just took my everything including the application I filled out and my blank check and went to one of Torrance location where director welcomed me and my kid with open arms.. BTW, my husband and I thought that they weren't friendly with our son either (didn't even really acknowledge him until my husband told my son to say hi which was like 30min after we started our tour) compared to our current director at other location who kept trying to talk to him and get him to play some toys while we were doing tour.. It was more welcoming so I am happy with the current location in Torrance. So I would be cautious with this specific location and enroll into other locations at Torrance instead.. The current director is very good with my son and helps watching him throughout the day and even have him in her office sometimes if he is crying with other teachers when I pick him up. read more

My daughter's kindergarten teacher (Lilana) is the best. Not only does she understand Mackenzie , but also challenges her strong personality. She's learned to read, spell, add, subtract and more. I don't remember doing any of that when I was in Kindergarten. I'm impressed! read more

You get what you pay for. In 2019, I went in to pick up my daughter and found her face down asleep on the floor while other children were loudly playing around her, and the teacher was oblivious and uncaring. I literally had to pick up my sleeping daughter off of the floor when I arrived and saw her. I was horrified. Turns out my daughter had the flu, and nobody called me when they noticed her extreme fatigue at school. I spoke to the director of the school about my concerns and she was unapologetic. I never brought my daughter back to that school because I did not feel that she was safe or well-cared for. I would never recommend that anyone bring their child to this daycare. read more

I don't have a lot of time to write reviews anymore, but I'm making another exception for Leap & Bound Academy. Our kid has been going here for over a year now, and with the spirit of Thanksgiving upon us, I just have to give credit where credit is due: This school is excellent! We looked at many schools before deciding, and after a year+, we're still very happy with the choice we made. Leap & Bound is cleaner, brighter, and much better organized than the other places we looked at, and we love that academics is such an important part of the day. The kids actually have "classes" like numbers, letters, and colors for the younger children, and reading, writing, and math for the older students. The teachers are all very dedicated, and I haven't noticed the turnover that Wisper mentioned. It seems like most of the teachers that were there when our child started are still there, although they have added some new teachers lately to keep up with the demand for their services. They even added Kindergarten a few months ago. But I'm not worried about their growth diluting our child's education since they maintain a strict 12-to-1 ratio, i.e. no more than twelve students per teacher. Leap & Bound is a fairly new school--I think they opened in 2005 or 2006--and I can see why they're getting busier, since they really do provide an excellent learning and growing environment. We are very grateful for all that our child has learned thus far. And for that, they deserve and get 5 stars! read more

My son has been going to LBA for over a year now and we couldn't be happier with how much he's progressed. He had a speech delay in which he completed speech classes before starting here and ever since he's been gaining new words every week! I love how we get to see pics of our children when we're at work on the class dojo app and the directors and teachers have been more then accommodating when I've switched schedules around to make my life easier. I have no complaints about this school or the administration and counting down the days until my daughter turns 2 so she can attend with her brother! read more

I know it's only been two months, but a lot changes in a short time. My 4 years 9 months old can now read, gets weekly spelling words and vocabulary tests, in addition to her weekly homework. They have also moved onto double digit addition and the concept of carrying the 10's over. They seem to move quickly, but not too quick that the students aren't learning. The students in my daughter's class are at varying stages of learning and the teacher adjusts the math and vocabulary to fit each students level of learning. read more

The walking field trips to the beach - they're just a couple of blocks away from the surf - is simply awesome! They have wonderful programs too for the kids during the holidays; moments you'll cherish for a lifetime. Leap & Bound focuses on strong academic concepts for the little ones - all while having fun at the same time. This is not a daycare center; kids actually learn good academics here. I have my son at Leap & Bound for just under a year and I can say having him here is one of the best decisions we've made. His grasp at numbers, writing, and the alphabet are quite impressive - to think he knows absolutely none of these a few months ago. I've found the payment method more flexible too. Instead of forking out a big lump sum once a month, payments are made weekly. Another option here is lunch inclusive payment, which I've found to be less stressful for a parent on a daily basis. read more

My family and I absolutely love Leap and Bound Academy. My son has been there for a total of 3 years but with Ms.Jazmins class 2 years. The support of Ms.Jazmin has been outstanding at Leap and Bound Academy. My son Jakob has been in Ms.Jazmins class 2 years now and he comes home at the end of the day happy and excited to share what he has learned. Ms.Jazmin is willing to try new things and help my child grow and learn at his own pace. Ms.Jazmin also values and respects my input as a parent and addresses any concern I might have. I believe the whole curriculum is great. What Jakob needed was a challenge and a chance to show his abilities. That's what Leap and Bound Academy offers. read more

I'm in love with L&B academy. My son's precious daycare facility closed due to the director retirement. my son loved that daycare and after researching and researching we came across L&B academy at first I was worried because my son was not use to the academic part of daycare and I knew the whole transition would be difficult for him, But I must say Ms. Tigi has been great with us. She's so kind, patient, and loving. My son is still having a hard time in the mornings but Ms. Tigi always finds a way to make him smile. We are so happy to see that L&B academy hires staff that cares so much to make sure that the children feel comfortable. When I pick him up he always tells me, "momma, I had so much fun at school".
