This is more than a warning than a review. Stay away from this business. I received a flyer in my mailbox, I just moved and my old home had gutter toppers, so all I wanted as a estimate. The rep Kyle shows up on time so far so good, but that where it stopped. I found him pushy from the get go ( He also proceeded to bash your competition ) Mistake. My walls went up. he wanted me to walk around with him ( I did) wasting my time. Then he pulled out a measuring wheel, ok I understood that, said he was going to write up the estimate, good I thought that's all I wanted. He comes to my door with large brief case and basically forces his was into our home. Proceeds to give me this long song and dance sales pitch. I wasn't into it all. He calls me on it, I cant look at him, I seem disinterested, he tells me right in my own home, how professional is that? His sales pitch included pictures of his kids " This is why I do this" he says. Sorry I don't care. He starts showing me the product uses my kitchen sink, and paper towel to demonstrate how debris works, leaving us to clean up after he left, it as all in the drain. Anyways he comes up with a price over 21k, that's right 21k, PLUS HST then he try's to close me on that price, I said I'll have to speak with my wife, , well he said she's right there.. Are you kidding me. I then said I wasn't expecting to purchase a car today. I then asked him about the discounts he kind of skirted that question. I said thanks for coming out, and we might get back to you, he said that's basically a no. ( he's bang on there) I asked him for his card, his response " I only give my card to customers, customers that pay me". Hmm Thought I was a customer?? Anyways about ten minutes after he left he calls me, said he was around the corner and spoke with his boss, boss tell him they'd do it for 9500 plus tax and they can start this afternoon. Honestly I've never had such a poor pressure filled presentation in all my years. With that I wouldn't put leaf filter on my doghouse if I had a dog house. I've since blocked his number. I called Leaf Filter after seeing a Facebook ad, as I was curious about the cost of having my gutters cleaned or replaced and thought the reason they weren't draining well may be due to leaves and debris so I thought a guard system could be helpful. The booking was quick and easy, which I appreciated. A salesperson showed up and was really nice and friendly at first. He put a camera up into my gutters to help assess them, which was truly great. He then said he was going to his vehicle to work on my estimate and when he returned a few minutes later, he invited himself into my house for a "presentation" where he proceeded to trash talk other companies and their products, in an attempt to make a case for the astronomical number he was going to eventually present to me. I saw it coming. I made it clear several times throughout the presentation that I would not be buying today - that I was gathering information so I could budget accordingly for a purchase next month, which he for some reason didn't believe. I was committed to my position. I was also frustrated about the length of time it was taking to get to the number. He said 'Well you are the one who called me!" It was gross. I didn't expect for it to take an hour to get an estimate for a super simple job. He tried to make a case for why 30 linear feet of new gutter (2 runs of 15' on my VERY simple roof line!) should cost $5K. I thought I could probably have them replaced at least 3 times for that amount, and since I have lived here 13 years without ever having them cleaned, it didn't seem like it was the best way to invest my money. Yes they are leaking, yes the problem needs to be fixed, no it's not a 5k job. For anyone unfamiliar with sales, here are some "techniques" to be aware of. Sales Process Red Flags - shows you pictures of their kids to try to get you emotionally invested at the beginning - Wastes/Disrespects your Time - spends far too long explaining all the reasons that you need new gutters and showing off other products and what is wrong with them - Deal Making - starts with some very high made up number, that widdles down the more you hold your "no" position, so that it looks like a real good deal! (or you start to wonder how they can be making any money at all by offering such desperately low numbers...) - Put me on the Spot - He called his boss to get me the "Best possible price" when I had said several times that I would not be buying today. I was dumbfounded and nearly speechless. I finally was able to say "I am not buying today, no matter what your price is. I am doing research." -Sense of Urgency: says the deal is only good for today, and asks which payment method you want to use (presumptuous close without any buy in from the prospect as of yet) - Emotional Blackmail - He had the nerve to say "I guess I didn't do a good enough job on my presentation today then." No, you didn't because you just wasted an hour of my day when you could have given me an honest quote in 10 mins and I would have more likely been happy to purchase next month. - I don't know what to call this one - "Oh, so you are willing to pay a 25% higher price when you call me back in 2 weeks?" No, I am not, because I won't be calling you back at all! Not impressed with the slimy, sleezy, manipulative sales "strategies" this company employs. I registered online to get a free estimate. The company call me back right away which was awesome. One thing that concerned me was they asked if my spouse would be home. I never mention that I was married. When the sales person showed up he again asked me if I was the decision-maker. I live in a two-story 2500 square-foot home the first estimate he gave me to clean my gutters was $7800. I laughed because it only cost me $1600 to get the original gutters put in. He then gave me a bunch of discounts which brought it down to $3800. I expect the company was using a max of $1000 worth of product and they were expecting four hours of labour so I was expected to pay $3000 for four hours of labor.
