When LeafFilter installed our system they ruined our brand new gutters. We tried to get them to refund some of our money....since we will not let them touch our home again....and they will not work with us on the issue. I just recently bought a new home. I began to do a great deal of research about gutters. I went to the Seattle home show earlier this year. And spent a good amount of time talking with somebody from Leaf Filter. I knew when it came time to get gutters installed there is nobody else I would rather have the job. When I looked over the reviews the only negative thing that I saw was not about the product but I was about to people. I had a young man named Guner L come out for my install. I was extremely impressed by his product knowledge, experience and my overall customer experience with working with him. He did AMAZING job on the installation and the cleanup. I ended up not using LiftFilter Gutter Protection. I was not impressed with the estimator and the sample quality of cheap easy to install material followed by a very high installation quote and outrageous discounts which said to me I was being plaid for a sucker. But alarm bells really went on when the high-pressure sale tactics started. The so-called free estimate was just an excuse to kick the door open and pressure you to say Yes. When I said I needed time to think it over, the estimator would not take No for an answer. I stood my ground, and then he left, but only after ruining my evening. read more

Used car sales tactics. Guy [never gave me his name or business card] tried to sell me everything but what I wanted. a 20-foot section on the back of the house. He agreed to give me a quote. About ten minutes later, I went out to look for him and saw him photographing the front of my house! Told him he had no reason to photograph my house and GO!! He left his 100 ft measuring tape behind. I called the office and filed a complaint to no avail. It's been almost a week and he hasn't retrieved his measuring tape. read more

A salesman, Jason, came out to my home this evening supposedly to give us a quote. After seeing the product, we were really impressed and was considering the purchase. That is, until he began to insist that we make a decision 'this evening' and the price kept changing. I began to think that I wasn't speaking English because he just wasn't getting it. I was very clear with explaining to him that I only wanted a quote and I was not intending to make an immediate decision. At this point he began to make inappropriate comments about how he understood if the expense was too much. Little did Jason know; I could have paid for the job in full if I so choose. The company should teach the sales reps not to make assumptions just because a potential customer can't be pressured to 'buy now'. I will not be pressured by anyone when it comes to spending MY hard-earned money. If anything, it makes customers not want to deal with the company. The disappointing part about this whole experience is that I really did like the product but I do not want that rep back in my home or making any type of commission from my purchase. read more

Saw the demonstration at a Car show. The product was working very well. My roof is 30' high. I'm getting to the age where I don't want to climb up the ladder twice a year to clean the gutters. The salesman assured me they would clean and wipe down the gutters, and seal any leaks. I didn't have any leaks before the install. A contractor showed up with a female who spent the entire time at my home on the phone in the truck. His ladder did not reach the roof, so he had to climb on the roof and did the install from the roof. The gutter leaks along the entire length now, dripping on to the A/C units disturbing my sleep. I called the company and they were coming on Friday to fix the issues. The said between 8 and 12 noon. I moved my doctors appointment to 1pm and waited. They never showed. When I got home there was a message that the truck broke down and now they were coming the 30th, 2 weeks later. I called and stopped payment on my charge card. It's still under investigation by my credit card company. My next move will be to contact the local BBB. I would run away from this company, It's a good product but the installers are not capable of doing a good job. read more

I think you have to be really careful dealing with this company, at least in Virginia. The reviews seem to be either fantastic or horrible. My experience was the latter. I live in Richmond. I contacted the company, and a rep came out to do an estimate. We agreed on a price, and a date, and signed the contract. He told me that the work crew came from Fredricksburg, (about an hour away), so couldn't give me an exact ETA, but I should just expect them between 8:00 a.m. and noon. He also said they would do whatever it took to finish the work in one day, so I would only have to miss one day of work to be home. On installation day, no one showed up. At 12:30, I called the sales rep who'd sold me the product, and asked where the crew was. He told me to call the office at the 800 customer service number. I called that number, and no one answered the phone. (Terrific customer service!) I left a message. I waited the rest of the day. No one showed up to install my leaf guards, and no one even had the courtesy to call me me back. Even the sales rep didn't follow up. The next day, I waited until lunchtime, still heard nothing from LeafFilter. Not a word. So I sent an email to cancel the contract. Oh, THEN people started calling me back! They gave me an excuse that was had at least one obvious lie in it, (perhaps more), and offered a discount on the price. No, thank you. If this is how they treat customers on an interpersonal level, I have little faith in their product or the capabilities of their work crews. read more

Women and people who care about women's equal treatment in the marketplace: beware. This company's business model is fishy and is stuck in the 1950s. This was the most appalling experience I've ever had with a company trying to sell me a service. When I called to schedule an estimate, unprompted by anything I said (and presumably simply because my voice was female) I was asked "if my spouse would be there" and that the company preferred to schedule an appointment when my "spouse could be home from work." When I explained that I would be paying for the service, they finally agreed to set a time. (I should have walked away at that point!) Two days later, when the salesperson arrived, I walked him around the house to show him what we wanted to have done and the areas about which we had questions. But, apparently because of this single uncertainty (the whole point was to get a consult from a gutter professional--him!) and because we were hoping to get a quote with and without the area in question, he decided that "we weren't ready for gutters." He refused to give me a quote! His rationale was that they work "so quickly" and that their discounts "vary too much depending when they do the work." He said to call them when "we knew what we wanted." Fat chance of that. What was most problematic about this whole interaction was the patronizing tone in which he tried to explain to me that "we weren't ready for gutters." The whole interaction was clearly gendered. Lest you think I'm overly sensitive, my 60yo father-in-law (who has worked in and around the construction field his whole career) overheard the whole conversation. As he described it, the salesperson basically said: "Sorry little lady. Sounds like you don't know what you want and you better get your husband to help with that.") My father-in-law is the one who encouraged me to report the company to the BBB because of the condescending manner in which the salesperson treated me and their refusal to serve me, and I will. read more

High pressure sales practice with a starting price laughably high, aka used car sales practice. It took 15 minutes to get price down to 25% of starting price, so right of the bat I am not pleased. Please do not buy from this company and support their predatory sales practices in price and product qualities. Go and check out the many YT videos about their business. In addition, they did not measure my gutter length correctly and were off by 25% plus, obviously to their benefit. Even at 75% off their initial price, their service/product is overpriced. This is going to be the most honest review I can give about my experience with LeafFilter, rather lengthy but if you want to know what to expect it's worth the read. When I first called to set up a quote it goes as any other time you call someone for an estimate. But when the lady asked me the best number to reach me at and rattled off the same number I had called, it took me back a little bit as I thought it was a bit strange. Nonetheless, I continued on with the call. When she asked what my zip code was, she said it wasn't coming up in her system, and I know that there is the fredericksburg office so certainly I should come up. She mentioned that she was going to shut the program down and try again. It worked. Set up the free estimate date, when she asked when would my significant other be home....I found this strange but figured they were a company that felt like both parties should be home to make the decision, nothing wrong with that I suppose. I told her that we would both be home around 5pm, and she said "ok we will have someone out there by 7pm. Red flag number three for me, but I went ahead considering the days are longer and accepted the date and time. After that I got a call from a Chicago number that I did not answer, and it was LeafFilter that left a message confirming my appointment. I never called back. The day before my appointment I got a call from an Ohio number which I did answer, and again it was LeafFilter wanting to confirm my appointment. I explained to the guy that with the initial call setting up the appointment to the missed call from Chicago to now receiving a call from Hudson, OH that I felt like it was a bit shady and would rather cancel the appointment. He was very professional and apologetic for the odd situations and had me keep my appointment. Now, the day of appointment....to my surprise the sales guy (Brandon) rang my doorbell at 7pm on the dot. I thought this was a good sign, never is anyone ever really THAT on time!! My experience with this young man was interesting to say the least. We walked around the house, and he pointed out things that I already knew so I didn't feel like he was trying to make things up or tell me how good or bad things really are just to try to really sell me. I will say I was kinda shocked in his appearance, not what I was expecting for someone in sales. Earrings, jewelry, jeans, Nike's, but did have a LeafFilter jacket on. I'm not one to judge, it was just unexpected for someone to in sales, yet dressed as if they were just going to go out shopping or to a movie. Brandon knows this product in and out, I will say he goes over the material really fast but does not mind interruptions if you don't understand something or have questions. This did not bother me, it was late, the information was clear, and entertaining that someone knows the product their selling this well. When he was finished he asked one question "knowing what you know now, and seeing the information I provided you, what would stop you from signing a contract before I leave?" RED FLAG #4 for me!!! High pressure sales and wanting a contract signed before he leaves??? Are you kidding me??? My wife and I discussed our options, it is something we need very badly, we do live in the middle of the woods. And decided we would pay with credit cards, spilt it evenly down the middle. Well, this became a problem for Brandon he said "well that's going to be 6% that the company pays on credit card swipes as opposed to just 3% for one swipe". Two things wrong with that statement. Well more then two but whatever, as a consumer we don't care how much the company has to pay in fees, we really don't. If it's not effecting our price then why should that even be brought up?? Second, be it one cc or two, the percentage equals out to be the same and I was surprised he wouldn't know this. But then again it shouldn't of been a topic of conversation to begin with. Long review longer, we ended up agreeing to everything and he said they could have someone out that Monday (this was Friday) again was pleasantly surprised it would be that quick. The system is installed all the little leaves and stuff that are falling from it being spring time roll right off of the 50 mesh screen, we are just waiting for a heavy rain to see how they perform, the few showers we have had, the system seems to be fine, but time will tell when the heavier rains come through this summer if the gutter protection performs as it should and water doesn't just run over them. Let me tell you...these ARE NOT maintenance free. But less maintenance. As opposed to getting on your roof and digging into your gutters you should be able to get on a ladder and blow and small debris off. Especially if you have "valleys" in your roof they will install splash guards to redirect the flow of water and debris will build up behind those. read more

We live in a heavily wooded area. This service was a God send, what a great group of guys. The consult was swift and timely. Mr Haire was specifically helpful with the financing situation. The price was very competitive. The installer was out within a week. The work was done quickly and well. They look great and the site was left cleaner than it was before the young gentleman arrived. This product is a complete waste of time and money if I could rate lower than one star I would. We first heard about them at arts beats and eats. I had one very important question for them. I asked them if the product ever caused ice dams, both of the guys at the booth immediately said no we haven't had any issues with them at all. That should have been a red flag for me, but I was hopeful that their product would prevent me from climbing on the roof. We set up an appointment for them to give us a quote. Alan came out and measured everything up and he showed us pictures of everything they did. I asked him again about ice dams. He told me the product was developed in a northern state where they get a lot of snow, and told no he hadn't heard them causing ice dams. He was at our house for about 3 hours he had said if we didn't get them now we would lose the discount. The whole thing was a very high pressure sales pitch. Stupidly we went for it. We had them put on in the fall. Fast forward to winter, I come out of my house look at the roof and low and behold I see ice dams, something that I was told specifically would not happen. I call the company and ask to speak to someone about it. They say they will get someone out to assess the situation. When the guy comes out and looks at the house he says I can't do this job, I need more people and more time ( there was only one guy that installed it in a few hours originally). He leaves and I don't hear anything back from the company until a week later. They send another person out, just one and he said the pitch is wrong it was laying flat. He angles it and leaves saying that that should fix our problem. Fast forward another year to winter again. I come out of my house to find more ice dams after being assured that the problem was taken care of. I am livid. Steam coming out of my ears. I call the company to tell them about it again hoping to hear that they are sorry this happened. Boy was I wrong. I talked to Derek the regional manager, he was not helpful in the slightest. I politely told him that we had never had ice dams before this product was installed and that I wanted to remove it and possibly get some sort of compensation back considering that I was told multiple times that it wouldn't cause ice dams. He wasn't hearing any of it he just told me that if there are ice dams now there must have been ice dams before and that it must be the ventilation and insulation of our house, even though the only thing that has changed is that we have LeafFilter gutter guards. All he offered was for them to be removed and stored on our property. I asked to talk to someone higher up and he told me that was the owner and that the owner would back him. All the decisions are Derek's. He does not want to keep the customer happy or work with us in any way. This product is not suitable for a snowy location stay away!!! Do not waste your money if you live in a place where it snows. Biggest mistake I've made concerning my house so far. Worst customer service I've ever dealt with!!! read more

We installed LeafFilter on our newly constructed home in November. Installation was done flawlessly, but just 3 months later my gutters were overflowing again. A service man came to repair the problem and determined the screening they use was clogged by debris from my asphalt shingles. I was skeptical since nearly every home has asphalt shingles, but they installed diverting damns to distribute the run-off. Today it is raining and the problem is back. Getting up on my ladder I note pollen is the culprit. We never had this problem at our previous home in Fairfax, VA using Gutter Helmet. Unfortunately, there were no vendors in Fluvanna County that could install on our new home. DO NOT PURCHASE LEAFFILTER. read more

If you live in a climate that snows or rains, I cannot recommend this Leaf Filter product. The very small screen used with this product becomes easily frozen completely rendering the gutter useless until thawed. Any significant amount of water runs over the top instead of in the gutter, also rendering gutter useless. In my first Spring, my front patio became a lake multiple times when Spring rains could not penetrate the small screens used by the Leaf Filter fast enough. In my first full winter, I ended up with 4 inches of solid ice on my front porch because the overhead gutter screens were frozen for weeks, and run-off could not penetrate. I have just placed my 4th service call, and am now requesting them to be removed. Techs show up and take pictures, but nobody from local office has ever called me back. Very frustrating! read more

I reserve the right to change this rating after observing the product's performance over time. This initial rating is based on the sales and installation experience. After, reviewing several providers of gutter protection systems, I narrowed my choices to four providers and had scheduled free estimate appointments with them all. I was most impressed with LeafFilter's sales presentation and product. The product, made the most sense, functionally, in preventing gutter clogging over time. My two-story home is surrounded by a variety of tall trees and gutter clogging/cleaning is something which occurs often. I finally got tired of cleaning my gutters (especially the 2nd story). The installation team was professional and competent. The installation process took approximately 4 hours. The product was installed on my existing gutters, which were thoroughly cleaned-including downspouts, re-aligned as necessary, sealed as necessary and shored up with new structural hangars, prior to product installation. Coincidentally, about 10 minutes after the installation team departed, a dark cloud parked itself over my neighborhood and proceeded to dump a bunch of rain in the area. The product appeared to work flawlessly. The lifetime warranty is comforting and transfers to new owners if necessary, however, I've read some reviews that weren't very complimentary regarding warranty coverage. Obviously, I hope I have a good experience if I ever have to use it. I live in Newport News, VA and the nearest LeafFilter office is in Fredericksburg, VA (approximately 3 hours away). The installation team members live in Yorktown. As I said at the beginning of this review, I reserve the right to change my rating after I see how the product performs over time. We had leaf filter installed almost 5 years ago after seeing it at the DC home show. We have large oaks, pines and tulip poplars in our yard, so the gutters were constantly getting full of debris. This past summer the gutters were taken down to install new siding after a hail storm. There was nothing in the gutters but a little dirt- no pine needles, leaves, seedpods, after 5 years! There actually is no way anything can get in because of the stainless steel mesh filter. Other companies advertise they'll clean your gutters for free if they get stuff in them, but you'll never have to worry about that with Leaf Filter. Total regret. This company sent out incompetent people who ruined my gutters and my roof. When they installed them they cut the metal straps that held the gutters level. They didn't know that the straps held the gutters in place and pretended like the sag was normal. When I expressed concern and wanted them to do it correctly before I paid, they harassed me, threatened me, and refused to fix the problem. Finally, after I sent a long note and got everybody on board they sent someone to "fix it." Instead of knowing what was wrong, they insisted that everything was correct, and it was my house and gutters that were the problem, even though there was a waterfall splashing in the middle of a gutter when it rained. Water fall! Audible like Niagara Falls waterfall. They just kept drilling more holes in my house trying to make it work (not noticing that the straps had been cut.) Even though it wasn't done correctly and I could tell something was not right I paid them because they wouldn't come back to fix it unless I paid them. That is their policy. And their policy is WAY more important than you. They just want your money, and promise all kinds of things that they will NEVER deliver on. After complaining two more times someone came out and realized that the original installation person who was totally unprofessional and inappropriate had cut the straps. They re-install the straps, but now they went through the top of the shingles. ANY moron knows that will only cause problems. Now my house is compromised to rot and leaks. I reported it, but they said there's nothing they can do because I have gutters on an old house. Malarkey! Never have they apologized or done anything to make it seem like they care that they harassed me, blamed my house for their lack of knowledge or taken responsibility for damaging my house. One of the installation representatives even said, "That's sales, they are a different department and not my boss. We aren't going to do what they promised." Literally told me this. Run away from this company!! Run. They are a nightmare that has cost me over a grand repairing the damage they did by sending incompetent or malicious people. Do you want this? I can sue them for damages, but that does nothing to protect you. Run!! read more

They did a great job explaining the product and what I could expect. My only complaint is that it has gotten stopped up... which it isn't supposed to do! I had the system installed and was very happy that i never have to get on the roof or a ladder again. 6 months later some rain and high winds and the down spout loosened up and was swinging in the wind in the middle of a rain storm. All the roof water was POURING int my electrical service and eventually into my electrical box into my basement. So there I am on the roof in the middle of a rain storm trying to remove the down spout. I called and they said they would be there between 1-3 pm the next day. They should up at 8pm because they service guys had two full installs to do before my fix, but they came and they fixed it. When I called for a complaint figuring they would compensate me since I was on the roof ( one of the selling points to never be up there again) and took a day off and the sure panic of water coming into electrical panel. They said the system works and the service was done and NO compensation. VERY DISAPPOINTED in the customer satisfaction. I could have lost my house because the installer didn't put two screw into the down spout to secure it........word to the wise. Its a nice system, the price can be negotiated but Watch all the work being done. Supervise the installers. read more

I have been reviewing others experiences and I too reviewed multiple companies before deciding on LeafFilter. The presentation was very informative, and I too purchased because it based on the presentation and guarantees on how great it was supposed to perform as well as lifetime warranty. The installation was completed on June 14th 2018 and my wife and I were anxious to see how well these were going to perform. The following week we had our first hard rain, and let me tell you, I was very disappointed. I had water pouring out in areas that I never had problems with prior to the installation. Water was backing up above the gutters and pouring down behind the gutter in front of the fascia board. If that was not enough, we had sections of the soffit with water pouring out of them. End caps and corners had water dripping through even though the seems were supposed to be caulked with 50 year sealer. We now have valleys on the roof where the inside corners of the gutter are being completely overshot by the water and creating massive waterfalls with splash back against our doors going to the back deck. Now for the good part, I have made multiple phone calls trying to get them to come back and make the appropriate repairs and have gotten no where. I called after the first heavy rain in which they said they would be there the next day between 8 and noon. Did not receive a call from the service tech until 7:15 that evening that he was on his way and would be here a little after 8 to make the necessary repairs if that was ok. Said he had a flashlight, to which I told him that was unacceptable. He then stated he would call me the next morning to get us taken care of. The call never came, so I called the next day and complained to which the receptionist told me a manager would call me and I received no call and that was last Friday. I called Monday and no call back. I called yesterday, and got voicemail. I called this morning and finally was transferred to what I assume was a Manager and I told him I wanted this product removed from my home. He stated he would have his Regional Manager call me. So we shall see. Fingers crossed. Oh and by the way, yes it is VERY EXPENSIVE. Still have not had a call back, I even called again the evening of June 26th and left a detailed message. To date I have called 6 times and either left a message or voicemail. I even text the local manager back to tell him I had not received a call back and that was ignored as well. If anyone has doubts, I can provide pictures and video of how poorly they perform. read more

All the claims about the leafFilter are absolutely true! As a 74 year older with bad knees, ladders were out of the question. The attachment I bought for my blower was awkward, dirty, and did perhaps half a job. I live in the woods surrounded by oaks and white pines, and leaves and needles are no match for leafFilter. I had water damage repaired due to leaves backing up a gutter before LeafFilter and look forward to not having that happen ever again.I am completely satisfied. read more
