All in all, it's a step in the right direction of having a place, and people that cares about your health and wellbeing. It seems the people that own place also work there, so there's care in both ways, in talking chatting, and gathering the ingredients, and care in serving the community. With holistic values. It's money well spent. Good ingredients, very tasty food, and class act environment and people. They fit a lot of life, inside that place. And when you step out, I feel there intention is also, to give you a remembering of what life, should actually be like. Connected to the earth, creation itself and it's people, whole and well, complete, loved and abundantly free. I called in to Try it Raw yesterday and today and spoke to Tim. I informed him that I did not want any avacado, hot pepper sauce or sour cream on my tacos. Yesterday he asked me why I didn't notate that into Grubhub. I informed that there is nowhere to put notes in on Grubhub (the restaurant would have to allow that feature). I called and spoke to Tim today and gave him my name and started telling him what I didn't want on my tacos. He informed me he remembered and proceeded to tell me what I didn't want on the sandwich. Imagine my shock when I opened my bag of food and there was a hand written note that said Tacos no s.c, no hot, no avo 9 oz Dick Toxx not Detox. I did not find this funny at all. Also the Green Detox drink I ordered yesterday was wrapped in plastic to protect it. I noticed today the drink was not wrapped. I called the store and spoke to Tim he informed that it was probably a note that the kitchen staff wrote as a joke and the note was probably meant amongst the employees. Meanwhile I have been to the restaurant and there is no kitchen staff. The restaurant is extremely small. There is usually only about 2 or 3 people working there. I told him I did not find the note funny and was concerned about drinking the juice because if someone was having a bad day, I don't want my drink to be tainted. He assured me that my drink was fine and it was not a targeted incident. I am beyond disappointed because it is not easy to find plant based raw food restaurants in Michigan. I don't know if someone had an attitude because I had a special request? If so that is absolutely ridiculous. Why would someone get mad about someone ordering LESS food on the taco. That's more inventory for you! I am a regular at Try it Raw and have never experienced something so offensive here or anywhere. This is not acceptable. Was the joke worth losing a loyal customer? I didn't appreciate staff putting a crude note in my bag. I unfortunately will not be back. This food is too expensive for games to be played with my food.

I looked in every direction and decided to drive to East Lansing as my corned beef withdrawal pains were getting worse. Stateside Deli sits in a shopping plaza a few miles southeast from MSU. When we arrived both booths and tables were available just after the lunch rush. Just guessing, i'd say there are between 25-30 tables and booths. Even though I didn't need to, I studied the menu knowing that I would probably only get corned beef or pastrami. The soups however looked great as well. I ordered my corned beef extra lean partially as a test and mostly because that is how I like it. Served on toasted rye, that' is exactly how it came. My first bites were euphoric. It only got better. My wife ordered half a sandwich (tuna melt on wheat) along with matzah ball soup. She loved hers as well. I can tell because both the bowl and plate were empty when she was done. She will often not finish if the food is "just OK" Service was excellent and "seamless". One server saw my drink almost empty and quickly returned with another. Another server asked if we needed anything as she was walking by. Our server also kept checking with us to see if we needed anything or if we were enjoying our lunch. If this is the closest deli, so be it. We will be back as often as practical. Only drawback is the hour drive each way and approximately $28 worth of gas.
