Best meal and restaurant in tacloban. Hands down. Don't even waste your time at Ocho, based on high…read moregoogle review scores like we did. Wish we found this place sooner than our last night bc we would have eaten here EVERY day for every meal. It's that good. Reasonable prices by western standards. We feasted and had several drinks for about $60 USD. We really enjoyed everything, especially the house salad, lamb chops and kefidedes (stuffed meatballs). The tenderloin was tough though. Tasted more like a pot roast presented as a steak. Excellent service. Staff were attentive and the food came out fast. The moussaka ran out and the restaurant was PACKED with every table full at 8pm so go early. Live music was Loud. There's speakers in every part of the restaurant so there's no escaping it, but this is standard for the Philippines. People eat then hang out at the table for a long time, so again, go early. The hotel the restaurant is in is also the best in Tacloban. I'd highly recommend to stay there and eat here and just not bother going out. Tacloban is a pretty gross and stressful place but this establishment is an oasis.

The ambiance is casual and nice, and I do like their decor. We ordered a few items: Fresh calamansi juice: thumbs up Cheesy onion rings: interesting, well fried with tasty breading. Did not like the honey mustard sauce though, because we typically have ranch dressing with onion rings. Burgers: The bf ordered some kind of bacon burger with mushrooms, and I ordered a plain old boring cheeseburger. They were just average. Everything was fresh, but the ground beef was overly fine (too much working while making the patties). This texture really ended up ruining the burger. Also, there was too much seasoning overall, in the beef itself, and in the dressing. Fries: Well seasoned, cooked perfectly. Dessert: We got this Korean mango-cheesecake dessert. It was amazing. Whatever was going on with the rest of the food, this dessert really made the day. Prices are high, but the portions are large. I honestly would rather have smaller portions with higher quality food. The quality overall is slightly above average, so I'd eat here again but probably try to order other stuff. I'm not really sold on the service though, because we had to ask for it every step of the way (constantly try to flag servers down for everything). There's no automatic refill of drinks, or even checking to see if we'd like another beer, etc. It took a while to get the food once we ordered.

At first you would think you are entering a resort, there is a humongous pool right as you enter the property going to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is cozy. I felt like I just entered a friend's home to eat. We were greeted warmly by the staff and promptly seated to our table. Ordered several dishes. Crispy Pata, Bagnet, Thai soup, a fish dish, pakbet, fried chicken. EXCELLENT FOOD!!!!! We were also given a rice dish and a Turon dessert. Again very delicious! We will be leaving Tacloban soon. Can't wait to come back here and eat at Village Chef!

Was so very excited about trying this place and could not be more disappointed when we arrived…read morethere was one big group and many empty tables. My fiancee and I sat at a small table and were brought menus and water. That was the last good service we encountered that evening. Our server could only be described as dour and sullen at best. We placed our order, eventualy, and began to wait and wait and wait. The large party before us was already eating, so I assumed they would not be a factor. I was wrong, they started ordering more things and they were delivered whilst we waited for our appetizers. In the meantime, another group ( small) came in. They ordered their food and what do you know they had it delivered before us as well. About 20 minutes into the waiting period the angry waitress informed my fiancee that they were out of her entree and to order something else. The exact same thing happened with her desert order. I tried to get our supposed server's attention only to be blatantly ignored. When they finally brought our food, all at once, I asked why others were served before us. The only answer I got " they have reservations ". What totally bs, a reservation gets you a table, not preferential treatment the worst part was the insult added to the injury; they added a 10% SERVICE charge

Almost all pizza in the Philippines is awful. Almost tasteless, no matter what toppings you get, to the point of being mostly like the cheesy bread you get in the States. I'm not exaggerating for effect; the pizza slice you get at a 7-11 (the one that's been under the warmer light for 2 hours) in the U.S. is a better pizza than what you usually get in the in the Philippines. And I've had pizza all over the Philippines, so I'm basing this opinion on a huge sample size. Don't get me wrong; there is good pizza available, almost always in a very large city i.e. Cebu or Manila). It's made at a place that an U.S. national or an Italian national owns, and he/she is the one actually making the pizza. As you might guess, these places are few and far between. And the pizza at these places is expensive. This place is a huge fail against the U.S. and an "above-average" for pizza in the Philippines. Not cooked enough, paper-thin crust, but, it did have more taste than most other pizzas. As an additional minus, this place has completely indifferent customer service, AND, there was trash on the floor and dirty dishes/baskets/platters covering all the tables. People would just push all the dirty plates from the previous diners into a big pile in one corner of the table. So, even though the pizza itself is above average for the Philippines, the poor customer service and the lack of cleanliness drag this place down to 1 star.
