Buyer Beware! I met with Travis back in Aug 2017 to provide me a quote to renovate may fireplace…read morein my Victorian home. I asked to restore it to original capacity. He agreed he could do all the work I asked for. I finally received a bid in January of 2018 and I thought the price was good for what I was looking for. I signed the contract and put down a 2400 dollar deposit for work to start in June. I interpreted the verbiage on the contract incorporated our conversation and verbal agreement. Long story short, he screwed me royally! He only repaired the chimney and did nothing with the fireplace. When I asked him when he was going to start inside on the fireplace he stated he doesn't do that, and rattle off multiple reasons why he can't. (not sure why didn't mention this from our initial visit). He basically lied about his skill set just to get the contract. He basically stated you signed the contract and I did the work stated in that contract. Needless to say its up for interpretation. He has poor communication skills and assumes the customer knows what they are getting into. I know nothing about Fireplaces or chimney's other than I want the to work. Most contractors won't start work until they receive the down deposit, this guy started work without letting me know he was starting and hadn't received the deposit yet. I was still waiting on more information from him before I would make the deposit. As you know there's two sides to every story, but I ask you, would you willing pay someone to fix your chimney only and not get the fireplace operational? Why would someone do that? I will not pay the balance of the invoice until the work is finished. Travis states it's finished. It seems we'll be going to court.
