Bread & Butter are well-known for their authentic European-style breads and drool-worthy cabinet goodies but they also have a full breakfast and lunch menu. I went recently for lunch and was impressed with the diversity, from French toast to salad to fish tacos! I opted for their quinoa and haloumi salad and added chicken. It arrived prompty and was a generous serving. No skimping on the haloumi - BIG tick! As for the rest of the salad it was lovely and fresh but there wasn't much quinoa. I also wish they'd roasted the beetroot rather than boiled it but really, these are minor issues. The service was friendly and efficient, despite how busy they were. It's a big space and I think they're nailing it considering they just opened. Looking forward to heading back and sinking my teeth into some of their baked delights!

All their signature loaves for taking home and a tempting array of sweet things to choose from. This Bread and Butter Bakery has that same quirky styling, with oversized eggbeater light shades and an eclectic wall of baking pans, artfully arranged. There's lots of seating inside and a few spots on the footpath outside. I was tempted by the individual beetroot and chocolate cakes in the cabinet, but opted for a menu item instead, settling on the fish tacos. They were freshly prepared and presented in soft homemade tortillas. They were good, but maybe a little pricey at $18.50.

They quickly responded "Tok Tok". Their most favorite mentions from the menu were the Popping Prawns, Crispy Duck, Shaking Beef, and the Fried Rice... I ordered it all ;)! I'm so glad I did. I literally salivate when thinking about the meal. Ordering over the phone was a breeze, and a friendly. I walked into the restaurant, and was quickly shown a seat at the bar where I could wait, instead of waiting at the entry. The restaurant was packed, and it was clear to see Tok Tok is a hip and cool place to be, as well as welcoming. About ten minutes early, I decided to order a Chilli Margarita from the cocktail menu. I received my cocktail promptly. I had enough time to finish the refreshing work of art, right as my order came out.

We sat outdoors in a fully covered patio that had heaters for cold rainy nights and it felt cozy. The food was excellent. We ordered beef steamed buns, fish curry, miso eggplants and shaking beef. They all tasted amazing. We did family style amongst the four of us and it was the perfect amount of food. I'll definitely come back here whenever I'm in Auckland again.

Thinking salad was the way go today, I ordered a mixture of the zucchini & fennel, the roasted vegetable and a spoonful of the buckwheat & orange just to be sure. The generous squares of fudge brownie were also tempting - cooked just right too (did the secret poke test). The only downside to this cafe is the intense stuffiness inside, with the huge glass frontage there's only the door opening and a fan inside to catch a breeze. Pretty sure I'll be back though, plenty more to try.

Actually, I wanted a ham and cheese sandwich (possibly with a date scone slathered in butter to follow) made with crusty white bread but "my body is a temple" reverberated through my head. Como Street Cafe offers raw daily salads so I headed there. I'm glad I did. The cafe is a bit weird in that the room is not that friendly. Big, grey space with little, if any, personality. The raw salad of the day was a red cabbage, shredded pumpkin, radish, bean sprout and cashew nut mix. I think I may have detected mint too. Crispy, crunchy and healthy it was but could have done with something else to make it special. I will return to Como Street and try another of their raw salads because I heartily applaud any cafe that chooses to branch out and add in something other than bread/carb/meat options. Or salad out of a bag. Well done chef.

Started out well as they had the Japanese Green something something tea my friend wanted - a good start. There was a bit of a chat about sandwich or salad, salad or sandwich so we decided on one of each. Neither disappointed. The chill chicken with gems in pita looked delicious - not my choice but a bit of envy. It looked a bit hard to eat but that only made it look even more succulent. I had the sirloin salad and while it was great, tasty and somewhat virtuous - i wanted that sandwich! Next time.... The coffee was very good as usual and the friand looked moist and disappeared quickly so I assume was very good

It's hardly surprisingly, considering I'm a huge fan of Zus and Zo and this new-ish sister café has a lot of similarities; the huge communal table full of amazing looking sweet treats, the delish home made preserves, the lovingly made coffee and the fresh-faced staff. However, one big difference is that there is heaps more outdoor seating at Zomer and for a sun seeker like myself this is a definite plus. I came here last Sat for a lazy brunch with a couple of friends. Grabbing one of the last tables outside, our waiter promptly came took our drinks order. Whilst my buddies went for coffee, I was a tad hungover so opted for their refreshing almond milk, baby kale, banana and honey smoothie ($8). It really just tasted like a banana smoothie but it was delicious all the same. For brunch, I went for the Bruschetta, which is served with haloumi, roast pumpkin hummus, rocket and streaky bacon. Although simple, it was really yummy and they didn't skimp on the haloumi or the bacon. Big tick in my book! I am excited to head back here to sample some of their dutch offerings and their freshly squeezed juices, which looked devine.
