I wasn't the biggest fan when my mom and I stopped in for a coffee last week. The staff seemed really disorganized, though I suspect they may have been training new people. We sat at a table and I asked if I could have an iced chai and the girl serving didn't know if they could make that. So she walked away and came back and asked if I'd prefer spicy or sweet. Um..it usually is both? I wasn't sure what to pick, so I said sweet. Also ordered a "warmed up" almond croissant, and my mom got a smoothie. Food and drinks took forever to come out. 10 mins at least, which seemed strange for a slow afternoon.
First my cold almond croissant came out. Not warmed up, just right from the cabinet. Le sigh. Despite its temp, it was pretty yummy. Next our drinks came out in small glass jugs with handles. Mom says her smoothie was pretty good so I eagerly sipped my iced chai. WHAT THE WHAT?!Agh. It tasted like licorice milk. I've never drank anything so gross. It didn't taste like chai whatsoever, nor anything I'd ever experienced. I was so disappointed. I wonder to this day what the "spicy chai" would have been like, not that I'll likely order it.
Anyhow, two stars goes to nice clean restaurant, and a fairly yummy almond croissant and smoothie. Three lost stars to the worst chai I've ever had (and I get chai everywhere I go), disorganized staff who are walking around like chickens with heads cut off, and a super over priced menu- $20 for two iced drinks and a small pastry seems steep. read more
