I had a wisdom tooth removed a few weeks ago with Dr. Kalman. He was assisted by Dana. These two are awesome, though my body did not like the laughing gas at first once it was turned off and I got the usual 3 shots of novocaine and the iv sedation, it was a breeze. I was awake but the extraction happened so fast I didn't get a chance to react. Dr. Kalman is so gentle and I love his bed side manners. Dana was very patient and I appreciate her looking out for me especially since I'm nervous Nelly. I felt no pain other than a little soreness and a tad swelling but otherwise I lived another day. My choice of pain meds when needed was, Advil Dual..you can find them on Amazon. They reacted better to my body and not make me nauseous or dizzy. Otherwise everything else is great. I would definitely recommend anybody to get their tooth extracted by this facility especially with Dr. Kalman. Thank you again! read more

No pain during procedure and that is what matters!!! Had my impacted wisdom tooth removed here and I can say that is it painless during procedure! Location: the clinic is along Woodhaven Blvd. The clinic is huge and clean. I felt like this is new facility cause its very clean and well maintained. I got street parking cause there is a lot of residential areas nearby. Checkin: You have to check in on the desk, I made apppointment by phone so it was easy to checkin. I have to wait for like an hour to be called for my procedure. Employee: Dr. Cardo is very professional, explains well the condition and treatments. He will show you to the monitor the teeth that has problem, the treatment and the after care. Again, I didn't experience any pain during procedure which is great. The employees are well known and informative about the case. They will give you health teaching before you leave. My only concern is that during your procedure the door is widely open, so people might see what they are doing to your mouth. I'm not sure if that's the protocol on the clinic but it's not bad to have a little privacy specially with dental procedures. Definitely will come back here for future treatments! I was recommended to this place by my dentist. I had to have a procedure done and I really never heard of this place before. It's pretty easy to get to with public transportation. I was very nervous about coming here because I had such a bad experience at another place. Leading Edge Oral Surgery has been one of the best experiences that I have encountered. I didn't have to worry if the office was going to be qualified to do the work. When you first get there you notice right away that their office was very busy. From the staff to the oral surgeons everyone was so professional, friendly and comforting. For me Dr. Michael Cardo (amazing surgeon) made the whole experience almost stress free. Of course I was beyond nervous before the procedure and before I sat in the chair. I really had a lot of anxiety and fear. Dr. Cardo was able to talk me off the ledge on the day of the procedure. I want to thank this facility for their awesome dentists specifically oral surgeon Dr Kostakis. I guess I can identify him as the "Greek god" He placed numerous implants in my mouth over nearly a one year period. I had to have bone graft done prior to insertion of my implants. It was a long journey that ended in perfection and my new smile is nearly completed. Dr. Kostakis was so knowledgeable, patient, kind, generous and respectable. He explained every service from beginning to end and made me feel comfortable and secure. I thank his immediate staff also for their professionalism and amicability also. The dental staff was great. Before signing responsibility of payment sheet as new patient, Double check if the doctor you choose is, in fact, in-network so that you are not charged out of pocket!! This practice will indicate that they "take" your dental plan but they are actually out of network and then charge you a rate that is outside of your plan. Meaning you will think your visit is covered but it is only covered at a certain percentage. I learned the hard way...Don't make my mistake. The practice will keep telling you that they accept your plan but they are only "accepting" it as out of network so they can charge both you and the insurance plan a premium. I double checked with my plan and they confirmed that no doctor here accepts "full coverage". They accept it but they don't accept full coverage. That's what the people at the front desk won't tell you. read more

I cannot praise Leading Edge Dentist. Everyone was so caring and pleasant. Most places the people at the front desk are nasty but I cannot say that about this office. I will highly recommend Dr. Bacigalupo. I was a nervous wreck and he made me feel so comfortable. His method of surgery was out of the ordinary. I did not feel any pain. I just got my impacted bottom wisdom teeth out today. Let me preface this review by saying I've avoided getting these teeth out for 10 years. A surgeon really scared me once by saying I should've gotten them out in my teens and now im at risk for nerve damage. He made a huge deal out of it. Every time I go to a new dentist they always make a comment on my sideways impacted tooth with the crazy roots and how it's going to be a challenge to remove. So they've been bothering me more and I finally decided to just do it. Dr. Kostakis has a very gentle and calming bedside manner and excellent credentials. He recommended a coronectomy for the right one because it was touching a nerve and a complete removal for the left. I had one surgeon in a different office refuse to do a coronectomy on me. Although this technique is relatively new it has proven be safe and effective. I got IV sedation and it was over in a breeze. There's something magical about going into the surgeons office, closing your eyes and waking up with those teeth that have been giving you so much grief just gone! Dr. Kostakis is a master in his field. I got wisdom tooth #16 aka upper left removed last Thursday. Dr. Kostakis removed it efficiently despite the fact that is was cracked and had a cavity in it. Mind you I also had a cold sore on the left side of my lip to and he did everything possible to eliminate discomfort. The procedure was over in under 20 mins. Excellent bedside manner (really explained everything). I only needed ONE ibuprofen 5 hours after the procedure and was eating solid food slowly about 22 hours after the extraction. I will come see Dr. Kostakis in 2 years or so to get the final wisdom tooth removed (I did mine in installments). read more

I am not surprised by the all the amazing reviews. My wife had visited 2 different oral surgeons for wisdom tooth extractions and both of them got us terribly worried about needing to be under sedation and high costs. We were highly recommend to Dr Kalman by a few people and when we visited the office he was extremely professional and up front honest. He said we didn't need the sedation and was finished with the extractions In less then 5 MINUTES when we thought it would be a long painful day. I felt so comfortable with the office and Dr Kalman that I decided to put an implant for myself in the same day after going through years of stress not knowing who to go to. We didn't have Insurnace but prices were very fair and I honestly felt like I underpaid given the excellent work and service. The office is beautiful and the entire staff is very polite. I unfortunately have lost two teeth in the last 6 years which necessitated dental implants. One was for a front tooth in 2012 and the other for a molar in 2016. In both cases, Dr. Kalman's office placed the implants. Dr. Kalman himself placed the first implant in 2012, and I did not experience any issues with the process. That is why I went back in 2016 for the second implant. The second implant was with Dr. Cardo. However, I did deal extensively with Dr. Artenberg, who was very good about responding to my questions via text. Both doctors did as fine a job as Dr. Kalman. For both of my implants, the office provided me a good and fair deal in terms of the cost. I certainly do not want to go through the trauma of losing another tooth. However, if I do, I will once again go to Dr. Kalman and his associates for treatment. read more

Why isn't 10 stars an option? I was referred to Dr. Kalman by my general dentist. I was born with congenitally missing teeth, I never lost 6 of my baby teeth. After having veneers placed on my baby teeth it was finally time to properly address the situation and take care of it with a more permanent solution--Dental Implants. I had been to several consultations with several oral surgeons. None of them put me at ease like Dr. Kalman. I am now 7 hours post op sitting here writing this review, still in awe of how effortless, painless and pleasant the entire experience has been thus far. I cannot lie, as I sat there waiting for my appointment this morning, I was tempted to just leave the office because I was so nervous and didn't know it I could actually do this. I'm so glad I didn't. The entire staff is amazingly professional, warm and welcoming. I was taken back to the room, and the sedation began... within a matter of moments I was at ease, relaxed, I remember Dr Kalman saying to the nurse..."give him the top shelf gas" LOL...and the next thing I knew, Dr. Kalman said "we're done". 4 implants placed in less than an hour. Sure there is a slight throbbing, nothing that a little Advil isn't taking care of. Honestly, I wish Dr. Kalman could be my general dentist as well.... I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Kalman and team. Horrible experience! They told me I was in-network for my insurance and then gave me an appointment for a Doctor that was NOT in-network (even though other Doctors in this practice are in network). Now I have to pay a lot of money out of pocket, that my insurance would have covered if they had paired me with the correct doctor. Initially my expected cost was $0. Awesome office! I have been seen by Dr. Cardo who made me feel comfortable. I really want to give a shout out to him, I had a lot of work to get done on my teeth and he did a fabulous job! He has been practicing for over 20 years so he is knowledgeable about everything, and talks you through the procedure very well. I had to get two teeth extracted. This is a totally unprincipled dental practice. They scheduled an appointment for my wife 2 months before her appointment with my insurance, and two days before her appointment, called to say they are no longer accepting her insurance (since they dropped out of the insurance network for the past 2 weeks). They would charge her the standard rack rate. I do understand that oral surgeons can choose which networks they want to be on, but at the very least, they should honor existing appointments made before they chose to be out of the network. Or, they should immediately notify existing patients when they chose to be no longer in a network instead of waiting until the last moment. Leaving patients high and dry with only money as their sole objective and driver is unethical and unprincipled. Do not patronize this practice. My advice: Choose another dentist for whom reputation, honor, and integrity matters. read more

I don't see how this practice received so many good reviews. From my personal experience with them, they are horrible. It was my dentist who referred me to them because I need to have the wisdom teeth extraction done. So, I scheduled a consultation with them on a day at 4PM because they said that all consultations are done at 4PM. I arrived about 10 minutes before the appointment in hoping that I would get see on time. When I arrived, the receptionist seemed nice asking me to complete some forms. I understand that since this was my first visit at the office. After I handed them in, the receptionist asked me to come around to sign a few things on a touch pad. Personally, I did not like that because I did not know what I was signing, but I wanted to keep my visit pleasant, I didn't ask for copies of what I signed. I felt that if I asked for copies, from the way of that reception lady looked, she would chewed your head off. Okay, after signing for my life, I waited at the waiting area. I really thought that it would be quick, however, I waited for over an hour before I was seen by Dr Artenberg. The consultation lasted less than 5 minutes. All he said was it's a breeze for him. I only needed local anesthesia and I could leave the office within an hour. He also mentioned that there was a chance that I could lose my taste, and some of the negative effects that it might occur. I understand that any surgery has a risk of something. Since this was my only time having wisdom teeth extraction, I did not know what to ask. And they are the professional, I feel that they should give the patients details on how it is done and what to expect post surgery. That's how I feel after the consultation. After the consultation, I did some research on the practice and the doctor. I saw a lot of good reviews and comments about the practice, but I've found that the doctor who gave me consultation got sued by someone who he left a broken needle in the patient's gum. I feel a little concern after reading the article about the lawsuit, but I went ahead with scheduling an appointment with Dr Artenberg. I feel that the doctor wouldn't make the same mistake twice. The day before the appointment, one of the reception ladies called to confirm the appointment with Dr Artenberg. Fast forwarded to the next day, while I was sitting down in the surgery room, another doctor came. He said that he would be the one performing the surgery. I asked why they confirmed the appointment with Dr A and at the end, another doctor came in. All they said was that they could reschedule me with Dr A in the future. I thought about it, since I had requested my days off from work and I was mentally ready, I did not want to wait another day. It's a big practice in hoping nothing bad should happen. I went ahead with Dr Merriam performing the surgery. The surgery lasted about 30 minutes. I didn't feel pain, but a lot of pressure from yanking and pulling. I was able to leave after the surgery by myself. Post OPS procedure - they brought me out to see a lady who would go over the procedure with me. She gave me a pamphlet of do and don't. She told me that I shouldn't brush, rinse, spit, eat and drink for 24 hours. My immediate reaction was "What?!". I totally understand the first 3 things, but not able to eat and drink is a problem. Then I wonder, "Were you telling me that I would starve or die of thirst instead of die in pain?" Then I looked at the pamphlet again. It stated no brush, rinse and spit for the first 24 hours, then on the 3rd line, Nothing hot to eat/drink. So, I wanted the receptionist the re-confirm of what she said. She then gave me an attitude and used her pen to bracket the top (see photo) and dragged an arrow down to the time tomorrow. With my numb lips and tongue, I said to her, "Are you serious? No food and drink?" She then re-confirm "Yes" which I seriously did not believe her and I left. Once I stepped of the office, then I googled "Post Ops procedures for Wisdom teeth extraction" because it did not make any sense to me that how patients rest/sleep with an empty stomach. Then, I've found that many dental surgery practices posted Post Ops procedure on their sites and stated that patients could eat and drink as long as it's not hot and hard food. I did not know why the lady gave me false info. After 10 days, I feel like my normal self finally. And when I checked my gum, there was a white dot at the back. I wonder if he left one of the roots of the wisdom tooth in. I will have my dentist check it later this week. And I hate it when food get trapped in the hole from the wisdom teeth. When I asked my friend who had wisdom teeth taken out, her surgeon gave her a syringe to squirt the food out from the holes. So thoughtful of that practice. Unlike this one. read more

I was experiencing pain and inflammation. So I decided to just bite the bullet and have my wisdom teeth removed. After reading all the great reviews on Yelp, I called right away. They booked me for an extraction the next morning. I was so glad I didn't have to wait for a week in pain to get an appointment. The woman who scheduled my appointment was friendly and knowledgeable, and helped me sort out my insurance. Great first impression. The office was lovely and clean. Staff was warm and efficient. Dr. Cardo performed my extraction. He actually started out by complimenting an implant performed by another dentist, which he did not have to do. I was actually expecting him to say something negative. So I felt relieved and happy to know that my implant procedure went well. I absolutely hate needles and he did a great job keeping me calm by telling me jokes, even if they were super corny. The extraction took no more than 5 minutes once I was numb. I will need more implants in the future and would definitely have him do the work again. I saw Dr. Michael cardo today for an extraction. All I can say is I'm genuinely shocked at how fast it was! For such a traumatic experience (I'm dramatic), it's as pleasant as it can be at this office. That was the actual extraction. As far as post operative experience, I am disappointed in the treatment from the doctors here. I wasn't given ANY pain medication after my surgery. I had to call as soon as my numbing wore off because I'm a human and not an animal and literally had to beg for pain medication. I got SIX hydrocodone to take and they are for four hours apart...seriously inhumane. I had to ration them for three days and even though I still had discomfort, I had to deal with it because the doctor made me feel like I was asking for a lot the first time. Beyond that, I developed dry socket unfortunately 5 days in and I was traveling out of town for work. I called their aftercare line and after Dr. berman (sp?) called me back, was greeted with further rude and curt responses. I had a follow up appointment for my last tooth but I'll be having that done somewhere else. Surgery shouldn't be stressful because of the doctors. read more

Amazing!!! Dr. Kalman and his staff completely changed my mind on dentists and implant surgery. I regret that I didn't know about Dr. Kalman a few years ago. I had a horrible dentist who completely messed up my implant, to a point where I could not bite with my front teeth. I was told I had to just avoid eating certain things or not bite into things for the rest of my life. Dr. Kalman was able to fix my implant by replacing it with a proper fitting size, allowed healing time, giving me a graft, and ensuring proper aftercare. Dr. Kalman is a great surgeon, he is very attentive during the procedure, which are quick and with very little pain. His staff is very understanding and great on the follow through. A huge thank you to Dr. Adam Merriam for his expert removal of my two awkwardly rooted, impacted lower wisdom teeth last week! The practice as a whole is lovely, with a gorgeous office, welcoming staff, and wonderful assistants. Dr. Merriam is extremely attentive to detail and was very kind at my consultation, thoroughly explaining what to expect from the procedure and patiently addressing my enormous list of questions. Prior to the surgery, he chatted with me about sports (which helped keep me from turning into a trembling wreck), then administered completely painless numbing injections. First of the staff here is empathic and very professional. I came in as a emergency with my daughter. She was treated as if she was a long time client. Dr. M was patient and explained procedure (lancing, draining and extraction) that needed to be done so we understood. His assistant made my daughter & I comfortable and at ease. The procedure was completed and Dr. M explained what she would be expecting after a few hours. From the time we entered to the time we left, we were not stressed or pressured.
