Greg Johnson has created a unique storyteller forum in a casual BYOB neighborhood place that happens to showcase great singer-songwriters. As example, last night I heard Tracy Grammer deliver an amazingly vulnerable and enchanting performance that rivaled any concert I have ever witnessed. Her transcendent vocals were as inspired as her loving tribute to Dave Carter. When you enter the Blue Door, as I have many times, be prepared for an up close and personal evening that celebrates the essence of the artistic experience.

Everyone keeps to themselves or their groups, and it is a better crowd than you will find at some of the local clubs. Plenty of TVs with sports, several pool tables in good condition, sports banners and signed guitars decorating the walls, and a very spacious seating area. The best part though is the stage and dance floor, which is nicer than any other bar I have seen in OKC. The food is classic bar food, but is actually quite good. We've seen 2 cover bands here and both times it was really nice. Not too loud, but loud enough to be enjoyable. The drinks flow very fast, but they could be a bit stronger. For the price they are a good value, but they are weak. The thing that struck me the most though is how clean it was. This is by far the cleanest bar I have been in. Even the restrooms are clean. Make the drinks a little bit stronger, even if that means raising the price a little, and this would be a 5 star place, hands down.

The crowd was a fun mix, from early 20s to more seasoned patrons. I can definitely see it being a great place to explore with a group, bouncing from one themed space to another. I'm curious to come back on jazz night to see whether it leans more speakeasy than bar. One of the bartenders even shared a bit of the building's backstory: it was originally a house in McAlester, OK, transported all the way to OKC. Apparently it may have once been a nursing home and possibly a brothel. If only those walls could talk!

It's a small, cozy venue that feels more intimate than a traditional theater, which can be nice for smaller shows and performances. The building has a unique, historic feel, although the seating could definitely be more comfortable. The theater itself is quite small, so I think the experience may depend a lot on the type of show you're attending. One area that could use some attention is the bathrooms. They were not in the best condition, and there was some inappropriate language written inside, which was a little disappointing. Overall, I'd say it's worth visiting at least once if there's a performance you're interested in. The intimate atmosphere is definitely part of its charm, but there are a few things that could be improved to make the experience better.
