Love this little club. Staff is nice. Great vibe, always great music, especially the Sunday jazz. Literally my only complaint is the lack of non-alcoholic options. Basically all they can do is soda water & juice. I would love to see a good mocktail menu like some other places have, like Angry Scotsman and Bricktown Comedy Club. Blue Note gets the nod from me based on the fact they have jazz night on Sundays at no charge,let's start with that! Jazz attracts grown&sexy and I like that! Pretty good size venue,both indoors and out depending on how you feel. I like the vintage booths inside. They also feature a" special" for those of us ballin on a budget as well as a lone pool table for hustlers trying to bolster their income. I thought I was drunk at first when I saw a dog in a lady's lap until more dogs started coming in with people! Not sure what the fascination is of bringing your dog to the bar, but if that's your thing, this is a place for you. The one drawback was the bartender was a bit slow when I approach the bar, a little less than attentive. Other than that, this was a wonderful experience and I will go back. read more

I first went to the Blue Note in 1969~~NO that was not a typo ~~ 1969. There was a group of us that were in the Navy Reserve which at the time was just east of Robinson, the first building of the railroad on the north side of 23rd St. We met for our reserved meeting 4 Mondays each month and after that, there was a mass exodus of us headed to the Blue Note. Cold beer, snacks, and great drinks for all. This ritual went on for years. Since those days it has always been a place to meet with friends and have good times. The bartenders are awesome, the music is great, the live shows are great, and the locals that hangout there are friendly and fun. It's a good OKC bar. Newly renovated, there are cushy booths and chairs, a stage that is lower the the floor and with railings, charging ports under every seat under the bar stools (new chairs too) and next to each booth. Restrooms are bigger and less creepy and the patio has been expanded. While still staying true to the live music attraction and craft beer options. The bar area and neon sign are still a thing and now refurbished. I recently visited this location on a Sunday in hopes of being able to celebrate an accomplishment with my partner. Instead, we had to leave. He handed one of the bartenders' his paper issued DL (since OK no longer prints them in person). The bartender took it, walked down to someone having a seat at the bar (im assuming the owner? Who didn't try to help the situation) and asked "do y'all accept these here?" .. she then returned (with an attitude) and said she couldn't accept it. Her first excuse was "well for starters, it's expired." I explained to her that the DMV informed me that the paper is still valid after the 30 days since it takes longer for the physical card to come in AND the DL is CURRENT. She replied with "well. It's also bar's discretion, so." Instead of accommodating us or taking steps to better the situation, they decided they'd rather not have us in there.. all while many other people entered and weren't asked to present a DL. Very unfortunate to feel discriminated against on a day that I was wanting to celebrate an accomplishment. Do not recommend this place, especially if you are wanting to have a relaxed and enjoyable outing. read more

came here for a drink on sunday. was asked for my ID by the bartender, I hand her my state issued temporary license, she takes it over to whoever and comes back and says they can't accept my ID. when i asked why she responded with a snarky attitude and says "well for starters it's expired". she's referring to the PAPER the ID was just issued and doesn't expire until 2027. before i had the chance to explain her & the state's incompetence to her she followed up with "it's also the bars discretion". at that point it was clear to me they didn't want my money (this is oklahoma so take that as you will). i happily walked out and have no plans of returning. it also smelled like cigarettes. i don't recommend this place read more

If a band I want to see is playing at the Blue Note, I'll show my face. That pretty much sums up my Blue Note experience. It's not a terrible bar, per se. It just isn't my cup of tea. For a smoking bar, it's not that smokey. They offer all of your traditional beers/liquors and have the city standard of a beer and a shot for $5. The service isn't terrible, but seems a little shady. I say that for this reason. Just the other day, my lady checked her bank account and noticed that the bartenders decided to add an additional $2 to her tab. Isn't that stealing? I think so. Came here on a horrible rainy, stormy, crazy Saturday evening, to try and wait the storm out. Being it was cold out and pretty much a water fall from the sky it was a bit chilly inside since they had all their ceiling fans on. Sat for a few with drinks and talked until a pool table became available. FREE POOL, can't beat that!! A live band was setting up, but they never played, weird? Lately anytime I go out I'm wind up being the responsible one and driving, so I can never rate the drinks. :( All in all, a comfy cozy atmosphere with a small menu of bar food. Like others, I was on the fence about Deep Fork Group buying the Blue Note. I finally made it to the "new" Blue Note, for happy hour with a buddy. I was seriously impressed, the last time I remember the blue note it was dingy, and just so-so. The've kept most of the charm, but it's actually reasonably clean (not too much though, it's still a bar). Great prices for drinks like the $5 shot and a beer. Lone Star on tap, and a large selection from what I could tell. Not too loud, and this was all during friday early evening. But! They have food now. Pizza, Nachos, Etc... That is actually really good! The pizza and nachos both were tasty and would have me go back. Went back recently, and the experience was mostly the same. Really looking forward to adding this to the rotation of bars we hang out at. read more

This bar is divey and smoky but the drinks are cheap and the people are fun fun fun. There is usually a game of gin rummy going and they always have free pool. Great place for live music any day of the week. Yes that means they have live music on weekdays! Like their page on Facebook for weekly booking updates. Their happy hour is from 4-8pm and will get you all you can drink beer for 5$ on drown night and 3$ well drinks. If you like being well taken care of by bar staff and enjoy friendly & talkative regulars this is a place you should definitely check out. This was my favorite music venue/bar that I went to in OKC. Why you ask? One, because it was within walking distance from my apartment. Blue Note is just north of downtown, near the Heritage Hills neighborhood off 23rd which is the old Route 66. Wayne Coyne of hometown band The Flaming Lips claims that when the band was getting their start in the early 80s no other venue in OKC would allow them to play except for this one. So there is a little claim to fame here in that regard. Since then ownership has changed hands a couple of times and now the same people who run the Drunken Fry run this place. The decor is stylish, the bartenders nice and the stage great for shows. They seem to be working hard to book more bands which is good for the OKC live music scene. read more

The Blue Note is alright, although it is not a place I frequent. I usually only go here if someone drags me here but I'm never disappointed. The service is quick and the bartenders are nice. I don't like this place on the weekend because it gets way too crowded and smoky. They have good drinks and you gotta love a place that serves local beer and Blanche de Bruxelles and has TWO FREE POOL TABLES. They also have live music on the weekends but there is usually a cover charge if you come after 8 pm. One person from the bar open the door and yelled "Leave!!" Then minutes later yelled "calling tow truck if doesn't leave" I only saw maybe 2 cars park there temporarily.(15min) then just like that the folks are gone to another Pokémon site in the city. 7. This place mostly sucks unless there is a good band which there sometimes is, usually local though and if it is an out of town band it's usually lame blues or rock. They do have some good beer choices. They have punk IPA one if my favorites, but the biggest problem with this place is no flow, you have to go with your people cause you are not going to meet anyone there, wherever you decide to sit you are kind of stuck there, and the lighting is bad and the pool tables are a waste of space, when they play music that's not live it's from someone's iPod which is usually a terrible mix that one person really loves - one of the bartenders - get drunk at happy hour then leave before it really gets lame and it always does, beware of denim vests as well. read more

There are a few reasons to venture to The Blue Note. For me, it's because a great local band is playing and they have reasonably cheap beer. I had a great time here the other night seeing Bed People and Colourmusic. I was happy to see there wasn't even a cover that night because they usually do! It wasn't totally packed which was nice because you could still get drinks quickly. Something else I appreciate is they don't have a minimum on credit cards which can be good if you're only buying a few drinks. Our band drove all the way from Dallas tx to play a show booked here. When we arrived at the venue they told us to leave because one of our members is 20. Having us drive all the way here then making us go right back without any compensation is total bullshit. Fuck this venue. After we have had several rounds, when my fiance mentions she is a bartender at another bar, the p.o.s. bartender in this establishment was a complete asshole to her, bringing up shit about us not tipping yet. Which we are still sitting here and still ordering drinks. And we were planning on tipping until he calls us out for not tipping saying "I've worked in the service industry for 17 years and so you of all people should know what it's like to not get tipped" That was completely unprofessional for starters, 2, why would it matter what my fiances profession was, working in the service industry and we haven't left yet.
