Insider, Tom Petty tribute.
Scott G.

We saw Insider here a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed the concert and this venue. The staff was friendly, the bar was well managed, and the bathrooms were clean. Thanks for a great experience!

The BF is a huge TV on the Radio (TVOTR) fan and unfortunately, their summer tour '09 didn't stop in St. Louis. And we couldn't make the Chicago date, so OKC was our next closest choice. We made a weekend of it and hung out one night in Tulsa and spent another in OKC. Nice little cities if I do say so myself...but back to the Diamond Ballroom. I was very skeptical of the joint when we pulled up. It looked like a mix between Pop's (a biker bar in STL) and an abandoned airplane hanger. We got there right when it said doors were opening. They lied. We ended up waiting in line with a bunch of random kids for what felt like 30-45 minutes. Our tickets were at Will Call and they only had one person working the booth. Ugh! Once we were in, it was a matter of waiting in line at the bar. They did have more than one bartender working, but these OKC people don't mess around with boozw! Oh, and some of the bars take cards while others only accept cash...what kind of operation are these people running? TVOTR put on a great show and the OKC crowd showed their appreciation. And they drank a lot, which made for some serious entertainment, even after the band had stopped. Interesting people watching for sure! Would I go back again? Probably under dire circumstances.

Here for the umpteenth time...just never gets old!

"The Diamond Ballroom is a world-class venue...all the best concerts happen there!" - said no one ever. Haha, so now that you know that, here's what you DO get: For those of us that remember when it was a honkey tonk and we used to use our fake IDs to get in...well, they still have the old wood floor! And the bathrooms are still atrocious, so no big surprise there. But there are three beer stations (with one of them serving mixed drinks) and their drinks are ice cold, and that's a bonus. Mostly rock bands visit the Diamond these days...and that's just fine with me. An eclectic mix, just follow them on Facebook and you'll see what I mean. I was there last night for Young the Giant and they killed it! Listen, the Diamond is an Oklahoma City institution, and it is what it is: a dive-bar atmosphere that brings decent live music to OKC. The sound is decent and the people who run and work there are really nice. Lots of security...although I did smell that old familiar aroma last night! I would give it 5 stars, but hey, I'm a short person. THE ONLY way for me properly to see the band is to either be immediately up front (which involves getting there super early and um NO) or stand in the wayyyyy back. Some VIP sections would be nice...hey, I'd pay! Go, see a (reasonably priced) show and have a good time...I dare ya!

Decent music venue. Sound is a little brassy on the treble if you notice stuff like that. Drinks are limited to beers and beer ritas in a can. Concrete floors, no seating. Grungy and hipster. Dress appropriately to walk in from parking in a field.

Modest Mouse live at the Diamond Ballroom! 6-8-17

I saw Modest Mouse at the Diamond Ballroom last night. I enjoyed the show a lot more at this venue than at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa mainly because at Cain's I couldn't see anything. The staff was friendly and the back parking lot was well lit when it was time to leave. DB is probably one of my favorite Oklahoma venues.

Security staff who forced a woman being physically and verbally assaulted by other patrons to leave the venue.
Haley B.

I was physically and verbally accosted by a group of female customers in this venue who also made conspired, false complaints to security about me, and as a result, a male security staff escorted out of the establishment without allowing me to speak to him or a supervisor about my experience. I experienced horrific, pathetic, victim-blaming/shaming, homophobic, unacceptable treatment! I am in complete disbelief of how I was treated at the Diamond Ballroom. This is unacceptable behavior from staff who are supposed to be creating a safe and welcome environment for everyone in the venue. My experience WAS NOT SAFE and my experience WAS NOT WELCOMING!

The sound was not good for this particular concert but the place is a great venue. Pricing was good for drinks.

The ONLY reason is due to the disgusting filthy no locks on some doors. Fix your bathrooms. It's been like this for YEARS!

I loved Park House the restaurant, and had many fun times there, but I do think that this spot being an Events Center is its rightful place as a treasure in our city. Architecturally, this place is so beautiful, and also such a great set up for an event location. The bar area is naturally separate from the rest of the restaurant, so a cocktail hour is easily contained within the bar and cocktail area. When it was time to open up the assigned seating, which fanned out from a fun dance floor and DJ area in the middle of the room, we found our seats easily and could see the head table and all the action on the dance floor. Offering a panoramic view of the Myriad Gardens and the city beyond, you get both the view of the park and all it's natural beauty, plus a view of the Colcord, the Devon tower and the rest of the city beyond. I can't think of any other place in the city where you can find such a perfect mix of natural and manmade beauty nearly everywhere you like. If you're a little bit country and she's a little bit rock and roll, this is the wedding and reception venue of your dreams. Add to that features like a great set up for guest drop off and valet parking, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better location for private events in OKC.

So I really love it when I find a new space that I really don't think anyone knows about. I attended a luncheon here last week, put on my Leadership Oklahoma and featuring several downtown experts talking about new trends in downtown. The owner of the building did a little introduction and talked to us about the room we were in, and how it is newly available to be rented. I think this is such a great idea. The company probably routinely needs a large space for trainings, seminars, and company-wide events and meals. So, the top floor of their building is a big, empty room with A/V capabilities. It has large windows overlooking Bricktown and Downtown, and a big outdoor area that's also available. The floors are polished concrete and the walls are exposed, rough hewn brick, so basically a blank canvas for events, weddings, parties and more. It's such a cool location, and such a nice space. I'm happy to have one more place on my list to suggest to people when it's time.

Like there's a silo (I think that's what it is?) right outside the venue and also train tracks right outside too. It definitely feels like you are in a more or less secluded area, even though it's very much still in Edmond. The ground outside the venue was mostly large gravel up closest to the entrance, and small gravel further away (like where most people ended up parking). It wasn't the most level ground, which made it a bit difficult for those of us in high heels! It also didn't help that it had rained earlier that day, so there were tons of puddles... so many that you could barely avoid stepping in dirty water, not to mention the wetness paired with the gravel paired with tall shoes just made for a slightly wobbly walk inside. Not the worst thing ever, but if I were the venue, I'd definitely consider paving more of the ground outside to counteract this! There is a small deck type thing out of the front. They have stairs and also a ramp up to this deck which leads to the front door entrance. Inside was smaller than I expected it to be, but it definitely fit everyone that came to the wedding and the reception. It has sort of a mix of the cute country vibe and the fancy warehouse vibe thing going on. I believe you could see the bricks inside, and there were also barn doors on the windows just for example. There was a small balcony in the back. From what I could tell the only way to get up to the balcony was by stairs. Then through a hallway in the back they also have bathrooms and a groomsmen room and bridesmaids room. Because the ceremony and reception were both here, we had to all go outside to wait for them to switch from rows of chairs to tables. I'm not sure if the venue itself was in charge of doing this, or some outside third party, but it didn't take too long (maybe 10-15 minutes). Luckily, we had food and a coffee bar to keep us occupied while waiting for this switch.
