I recently worked with Patrick Walsh at Leader to secure a mortgage on my home. The mortgage process can be harrowing and I'd previously worked with several potential lenders who were impersonal, difficult to work with, and uninterested in understanding the particulars of my situation. I went with Leader because I could tell, on day one, that they would be different. And, in stark contrast to the others, Pat and Leader were indeed a real pleasure to work with from start to finish. Importantly, Pat really engaged to understand exactly what I wanted to do and delved into the details of financial reality to figure out the best way to do it. Throughout, Pat and Leader were an ally in the process. When I had questions, they were answered. When there were potential obstacles, Pat headed them off and helped me work through them. I always felt that I had a personal relationship with the team and that they were working in my best interest. While any mortgage process involves a certain amount of bureaucracy and red tape, Leader did their best to reduce it. They always were personal and common-sensical. At the end of the day, Leader delivered the mortgage I was looking for at an entirely reasonable rate and they did it quickly and with as little hassle or timewasting as possible. It was an extremely positive experience. read more

A lot of people told me that dealing with a bank when buying a house is the worst part of the whole process. I was referred to Andrew Monticone out of the Needham branch, through the whole process. Not only did he work step by step and helped me to find the best way for me and my family to get this done quickly and without any delays. He was very good at keeping me informed of what is going on and what to expect next. Communication was terrific and understandable all through this. Even though I dealt with Leader bank in Needham I visited the Seaport branch to open my accounts. In both cases I well pleased with the service and the people that work for this Bank. I wanted to use a small bank just because I knew I wouldn't be just a number in line. And I strongly believe that even if Leader Bank grows to a large bank the service and kindness I received will not change. I would love to thank Andrew and leader bank community for a great job and the compassion on which the showed me and my family. God bless you all. Nelson Vargas. read more

My wife and I worked with Matt McCarthy to secure a loan for our first home. Matt was referred to me by a friend who is part of the real estate sector and promised I would be in good hands. He was absolutely right! He was able to secure us with the best rate possible. Beating competitor offers by a considerable amount. What impressed us most was that he was extremely responsive and always returned calls promptly. We never felt rushed with the numerous questions we had during what is considered to be the most stressful part of this exciting process. Matt was always patient and explained everything in detail. That patience went a long way in our eyes. I have since refinanced with him (another overwhelming successful experience) and have referred him to my fellow co-workers and friends. All have commented on their happiness with their experience. You will not be disappointed with his effort! read more

I've used Matt for our initial home purchase and mortgage a few years ago. As rates have continued to drop, we've refinanced with him two times. He and his team are very easy to work with, knowledgeable, and responsive. I'm most impressed with Matt's ability to continually offer the lowest rates. With the first two loans I secured with him, I shopped around with other lenders and Matt's rates were dramatically lower. The third time around I didn't even bother to look elsewhere because I was so confident in his competitive pricing! Matt and his team are also incredibly responsive and were able to close my loans within weeks, not months that the typical lender is able to do. I have continued to recommend him and his team to others looking to refinance or buy their first home. read more

My boyfriend and I worked with Matt McCarthy on our first mortgage and it couldn't have been a better experience. As first time homeowners, we were pretty new to process, but Matt & his team helped guide us through every step of the way. We initially had our mind set on working with a credit union, but the level of support was not the same. Matt was able to offer us competitive rates and much more support than the agent from the other bank. It also helps that Matt was such a pleasure to work with. He was encouraging and was able to respond quickly to our requests, which was crucial in such a competitive buyers market. The mortgage application was painless and was completed within a short time frame. We would definitely be in touch with Matt & his team for future mortgage needs. read more

Worked with Leader Bank and Matt McCarthy at recommendation of another friend who has worked with their team. Overall, excellent experience and professional service throughout. Matt and his team were able to find a product for us that fit our needs that other companies hadn't even heard about. The loan we landed saved us big! We had some exceptional travel situation around the time of our loan application and Matt made this a non-issue with consistent communication whilst we were abroad and submitting our application. Now even months after the sale Matt quickly answers and responds to my emails with any question, something I wouldn't expect from the average broker. He even showed up to our closing to make sure the process went through without a hitch. Would recommend highly! read more

I had a great experience working with Leader Bank and Matt. Being a first time home buyer made the process a bit intimidating and I was initially confused about a lot of the jargon/options. Matt met with me twice and I talked to him numerous times while we looked for a home. It ended up being 5 months before we even made an offer and Matt helped us out the entire time. He was always easy to reach and would break things down for me in a way I understood. He also made the process seamless with our attorney so the closing could not have gone smoother. I also agree with other comments that the lowest rates I received after shopping around a bit were from Leader Bank. We only just closed so I have refinanced but if/when the time comes I look forward to working with Matt again. read more

My wife and I recently worked with Michael McCarthy and Shannon Lumnah to finance our home and it was an absolute pleasure. I usually do not write reviews but sheer excellence by Leader Bank's team made me do it. When we were shopping for lenders, Mike worked hard to win our business and worked patiently with us to offer us the best rate. He even managed to lower the rate before closing. You hardly come across such a committed team. Mike in particular was very responsive (even when I texted him outside work hours), his team was very well organized and excelled at co-ordinating with the many parties involved meeting every deadline. I would recommend Mike to anyone - definitely my go to person for any future business! read more

My daughter lives in Boston and I live in California. We recently closed on a condo in Dorchester. We worked with Matt and Shannon at Leader Bank. We had several other options with other banks, but Matt came in with the best interest rates and several options to select from that met our budget and needs. This was to be a second home for me and had its challenges with the documentations required. Besides being available and responsive, Matt was very helpful and was flexible in amending and making things work for us. Shannon worked hard to keep me abreast of the status and we closed on the date that was promised. I am delighted to say we enjoyed working with Matt and would readily recommend him in the future. read more

Before going through the home buying process, I had always heard it's very stressful and painful to go through. When my wife and I were ready to buy a house, we were recommended by a few friends to use Leader Bank. We took their advice and couldn't have been happier. From the pre-appraisal through closing, everything was incredible. We worked with Mike McCarthy and his team, and they were phenomenal. Very professional, quick to respond to any question/inquiry you would bring up, and just seemed like they cared about getting us into our new home fast and at the best possible rate. They made it seem like we were their only customer. I would recommend Leader Bank to anyone, especially Mike's team! read more

Just when I thought my deal wasn't going to go through I was lucky enough to have Matt's information passed to me. Matt and his team at Leader Bank went above and beyond to make sure this deal got done. They were very responsive to every question or concern I had and made sure to always keep me in the loop throughout the whole process. The options Matt was able to provide to me were significantly better than other banks I had spoken to. Without Matt and Leader Bank the deal never would have happened. I strongly recommend working with Matt and have already referred my closest friends. If you're not working with Leader Bank then you're not getting the best deal you can! read more

I had a fantastic experience at Leader Bank - Seaport Branch today! I met with Universal Banker, Deanna Pettway for assistance with 5 different tasks, and I couldn't be more impressed. I used to hate going to the bank now I make any excuse I can think of to drop in! Everyone there is so nice and accommodating they know my name, my coffee order, my favorite color and my third cousins middle name, you won't get that with other banks. They're was life before leader then life after leader that's how I divide my time on this earth. I refuse to bank anywhere else unless I'm forced to against my will. If you bank with a national chain you're an idiot in my book. Leader bank has that local touch but can handle anything your business needs no matter how complex-shout out to my seaport ladies! read more

This was my first time dealing with Leader Bank and I am thoroughly impressed! Deanna was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Opening my cd account was simple and the great rate was a bonus! Deanna introduced me the entire staff at the office and explained the comings and goings of doing business with Leader Bank. Even though Leader Bank is not the closest bank to me, I am seriously considering closing my current credit union accounts and bringing all my business to Leader Bank. I have told several people to run, don't walk to this bank. They are great. read more

We had a great experience with Matt and his team and would highly recommend them. This was our first house and first mortgage and Matt explained every step of the process to us. He is endlessly patient, taking calls from us asking "what does this mean?" or "what do we do here?" and giving us clear answers that made sense to new home-buyers. He definitely knows his stuff and is a friendly and funny guy to work with. The process of buying a house is stressful, however Matt and those he works with at Leader made this part of the process much easier! read more

Matt and Shannon are really the best lenders you can find. The entire process was smooth and both were very prompt with email responses and necessary communication. Matt had promised a good initial rate based on one assumption that he essentially misspoke about. Before I had the chance to find out and mention it, Matt proactively apologized and got authorization to give me an even better rate with a better closing credit that couldn't be matched by other well reviewed lenders or brokers. I can't recommend this team highly enough! read more
