My aunt has occasionally had her hair done at Nika's over the past couple of years, apparently unlike some of the Nika's clients who come weekly, monthly, every six-eight weeks, which means they apparently get preferred, excellent service and styling as opposed to someone who comes less frequently and is a less deserving customer. My aunt works long days and hours, and when she can get some time off, I will pick her up or meet her. This week is the last time she will visit Nika. Despite having made an appointment, it seems the appointment time was double booked. The other client was taken care of first. No explanation or apology. One and one-half hours later my aunt was finally in the chair. More than two hours later than expected to leave the salon, she finally got out. I was scheduled to take her to another appointment, which was missed and had to be rescheduled. Thankfully she was not penalized for having to miss that and reschedule it. She would have gotten up and left had it not been the condition her hair was in and she was embarrassed and decided to ride it out. My aunt commented on how much time Nika spent with the other client and was barely interested in her. Talked constantly with other clients who had arrived. See the review of 2014. My aunt's hair was not styled well and the entire set fell within an hour of leaving the salon. Bet the other client's hair will last a full week until she goes back for her next weekly appointment because Nika doted on her needs. Couldn't wait for my aunt to get out of the chair. Couldn't have cared less. There have been a few other similar appointments where she waited well over an hour plus for her appointment. On some appointments her hair looked lovely, which is why she returned. She was gritting her teeth when she left the salon this time. A day ruined. Seriously, if you only want to take care of your regulars, then don't book those who come every couple of months or so that you don't value.

I've previously seen reviews raising concerns about…read morepossible chemicals being used in their shampoo and "deep conditioner," but until now, that had never been my experience. Because of those reviews, I am always extremely cautious--I normally bring my own products and explicitly request that nothing else be used on my hair. This time, I made the mistake of forgetting my products and had to rely on theirs. Immediately after the so-called "deep conditioner" was applied, my scalp began burning. I asked what was used and was told it was only deep conditioner and that no chemicals were involved. That explanation makes absolutely no sense. I have not had a perm in nearly 15 years, yet the burning sensation was identical to a perm burn. I washed my hair today, and if there was any doubt before, it is now gone. Whatever was used altered my hair's natural texture. My hair is naturally curly--after washing it, my curls are gone and my hair is now noticeably straight. In Photo #2, the left side is from today's wash. The right side is from my last at-home wash. The difference is undeniable. There are no curls on the left. Photo #3 is my usual hair texture. I can't help but question whether this was done to make my hair more "manageable," especially since my longtime stylist, Veronica--who was meticulous and respectful of natural hair--suddenly left the salon. The current level of care and consideration is clearly not the same. I've seen previous responses from Julia disputing similar claims. I am not interested in a response. Nothing anyone says will reverse the damage that has been done to my hair. I am beyond frustrated and deeply disappointed. I will never return, and I plan to report this to the BBB and pursue any other recourse available. While nothing will restore my hair to its natural state, I hope this review prevents someone else from making the same mistake I did and continuing to support this business.

I missed the head massage and hot towel treatment I used to get at the Aveda Salon I frequented in Florida. My first salon experiences in this area incorporated lukewarm hair washing water and no head massage. I couldn't do it anymore. Soiree knocks the hair washing service out of the park. They have their own crew completely responsible for washing hair, massaging scalps and providing hot towel treatments. My daughter likes it so much that one time I was having my hair taken care of, she just asked if she could have hers washed. They fit her in right in. You best believe there is no lukewarm water here. My haircuts themselves are also top notch. Dani is really good at her job. Not only with the actual cutting and attention to detail with my hair but also with the conversation. I am always sad when the haircut is over. It all goes too quickly.
