Halfway through eating this cubano (chef) sandwich, it was so good I only remembered to get a pic later.

My friend got into Quebec City late, and this ended up being the only place near us still serving food. The waitress didn't speak English, and our French is not very good, but luckily she spoke Spanish, and so do I! The entire transaction was conducted in Spanish, which I find amusing as heck. The food was so super good! We got plaintains and an order of poutine to share (which is the first and best poutine I've had on this trip). I got what they call the chef sandwich but is a cubano. Absolutely delicious. My friend got the vegetarian arepas, which came with cheese, tomato, and zucchini. She liked them a lot. The waitress was very friendly to these weary, hungry travelers, and I would recommend this place for sure.

    Delicious salad!

Delicious homemade freshly cooked meal. Nice couple owning the place and frankly it was the best smoked pork ribs I had in a long long time.

I got food delivered to my hotel…read more I ordered the chicharrones, ropa vieja sandwich, and an order of churros with sugar and cinnamon. The chicharrones seemed freshly fried. It had a bit of meat attached to the crisp fat, as is the Caribbean- style that I've enjoyed. It was paired with a very nice salsa verde. The ingredients tasted fresh with the perfect amount of avocado. The ropa vieja sandwhich had fresh vegetables and a crusty but chewy bread however the beef was more of a paste than the stringy beef that comprises ropa vieja. Also, the ropa vieja had too strong of a tomato taste and was lacking the right amount of salt. The churros were more dense and dry than expected. Also the dusting of cinnamon and sugar was a lot less than usually graces a churro. I don't know if this could've been a result from the transport, however. Overall the food was okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to try it again. Though if they jarred that salsa verde... I would definitely go out of my way to buy it.

This was a hole in the wall that we stumbled upon and thought, "Cuban food in Quebec City, we've…read moregotta try this!" We were not disappointed! The Ropa Vieja sandwich was on point! They also had their own creation of "Cuban" nachos where instead of tortilla chips, they used plantain and yuca chips. I thought, "why did had I not thought of using plantain & yuca chips before!?". It was excellent! If you are looking for a good lunch spot, this definitely does the trick. Plus, you must try the cafe con leche!
