A review of social media memories over the weekend reminded me that its been awhile since having…read morecosmetic surgery. Most men are afraid to share with others - especially strangers - that they have had "work" done. I am not one of them. I met Dr. Lisa Learn through a patient/friend who had undergone a cosmetic surgery procedure. A fellow gastric bypass patient, my friend underwent an abdominoplasty - or tummy tuck - procedure. She looked great and I wanted to look great as well. In desire of ridding myself of extra skin following a 160-pound weight loss, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Learn at her Fort Lauderdale office. It was an initial consultation to determine whether my insurance company would consider such procedure medically necessary. Initial consultation went great. I met Dr. Learn and her assistant - Teresa - to discuss options. I provided medical records and photos were taken for submission to insurance. As a guy who has never "cared" for his "looks," I took advantage of the consultation to discuss my face - specially around the eyes and jaw/cheek area. I was not happy with what I thought were droopy eyelids and sagging cheeks. Dr. Learn agreed, basically stating that the cheeks/jawline "issue" were the result of massive weight loss. As for the droopy eyelids, it was explained as part of the natural aging process. Long story short, I decided on several procedures to immediately improve my "look." Blepharoplasty - surgery for my upper eyes; and "Profound" - a laser non-surgical procedure to tighten up my cheeks and jawline. Voluma XC and Bellafill would thereafter be considered as dermal fillers. All procedures would be performed in the office with local anesthetic. Surgery day came and went before I knew it. First the blepharoplasty, then the "Profound" laser treatment. With my eyes, I could see an immediate improvement. As for the cheeks/jawline, Dr. Learn had fully explained that an improvement would not be seen for several months. Over the next few months, I had a number of "follow-up" visits with Dr. Learn. During these visits, I received both Voluma XC and Bellafill - which I learned was a relatively new dermal treatment that not only stimulates collagen growth - but could last for five years. As for abdominoplasty, my insurance company denied benefits and I decided to "self-pay" for the procedure. Thereafter - and only hours before the scheduled procedure - I chickened out and cancelled surgery. I'm not sure if it was peer pressure not to have the procedure or the "possible" six-week healing process. My "look" has changed to the point that I cannot reuse old social media photos. I "look" that different. Thanks, Dr. Learn. William E. Lewis, Jr. Vero Beach, Florida

When I went to her I was in a state of depression and still very traumatized, when I consulted with her she seemed personable and caring. I was so desperate that I chose the first doctor i consulted with, which was Dr.Learn, I just wish I would have gone to other surgeon consultations before choosing her. Initially I thought the results were good, but then once my breasts healed I wasn't happy with her work, I have photos and videos, my left breast which was the one with the biggest damage, looks almost the same as it did before surgery, based on my experience I would NOT recommend her to fix botched surgery, I did go to another surgeon recently and he was so knowledgeable and explained to me everything in detail about how he would have done my surgery, he was very experienced with fixing botched surgeries, unfortunately I Need to save money to have the surgery redone by him.

They took their time to answer every single one of my questions (there were a lot) and I never felt rushed or pressured. The doctor has a gentle demeanor that immediately puts you at ease. I never once felt like he was trying to sell me or give me false hope. Choosing him to perform my surgery was the best decision! The surgery and recovery went even better than what was promised. The doctor personally called to check on me the first couple of days and I had his personal cell phone number to call for any post-surgery issues or concerns. My results blew me away right from the beginning and they have only gotten better with time. My breasts are PERFECT. When we met before surgery I told him to do whatever he needed to do for the best results and I am so glad I did. If he went into this with any restrictions on size it would have changed my results completely. He knew what I wanted and made the right call to get me there. I don't know if this is normal for implant exchanges but they weren't even a little sore. The breast portion of my recovery was painless. The lipo recovery wasn't too bad and my pain was managed with Tylenol. Surgery was on a Friday and I was back working (from home) that Monday. My results just get better and better as the weeks go by. I trusted the process and listened to the doctor and it has paid off in a big way. I am so thankful to Dr. Thomassen, he has completely changed my life and given me back my confidence. Photos were posted to realself.

She now has been having revision surgeries with another surgeon that saved her life (when she was hospitalized for a week on 4 types of iv antibiotics and having her wounds packed properly). She's been having the revision surgeries for the past 3 years and still has more surgeries to go. He also Left her with multiple open wounds that tunneled. If she waited any longer and kept listening to him that she was fine and wasnt going septic and she had no infection. she would be dead. I told him this isn't normal and he dismissed me. In person and on the phone. She was close to losing breasts and limbs to the infections and sepsis. He Left dirty rotting gauze in her belly button for 3 weeks. Until one of his employees found it while taking her photos when she demanded to be seen for the wounds. The infections were severe and The type of bacteria can only come from dirty surgical equipment and ivs. He Refused to help her. Left her to go septic and kept telling us no to the hospital or any other opinions. Refused to send her her medical files and also falsified records. For 3 weeks before her being admitted to the hospital he refused to see her and had some of his employees pull out her drain, cut open her wounds, and remove the dead tissue in a hotel conference room of the Sheraton hotel. She even said she wants to have him see her and do it at the clinic and not have his employees with no medical title do it. He finally saw her the next week due to us showing up at the clinic because he called us to cancel the appointment and telling us he will tell us the same thing he did on the phone was to just pack the wound with improper techniques. But we werent having that. So we went in to that appointment. He was very rude and he had the same girls from the hotel conference room take his place after he walked out and was done with us. so They removed more tissue, opened the wound some more, they also improperly drained one of her seromas with a 7 inch needle with no ultrasound. They Could have punctured something like a lung. They took the fluid and kept squirting it out into a random trashcan because the syringe was too small to pull all of the fluid. That is just the long story short but she deals with revision surgeries and fixing multiple medical problems along with the same seroma that created a large sac in her stomach that has to be surgically removed. Due to him not properly helping her care for it it now fills up with fluid constantly and can only be released through lymphatic massages every 2 weeks. This was due to the wounds opening and having to remove the non working drain because it was pulling in air through her stomach wounds. Please find a different surgeon because he isn't the one. This is a glorified chop shop.

After much research and numerous consultations, I ended up with Dr. Dev. On the day of the surgery, I was overwhelmed with anxiety, nervousness, and tears, but with all his skill and patience, he calmed me, anesthetizing me in the most humane way possible. I will never forget that, and his team was incredible as well. Do I recommend him? With my eyes closed.
