Located only 2 blocks from Notre Dame basilica, you're in the heart of Old Montreal. Absolutely everything is walkable (if you're able). The "free" breakfast was incredible. The staff will make you almost any side coffee/tea beverage you'd like right there at the front desk. They serve the famous St. Viator bagels here (so need to wait in the long line at the bagel shop). Their croissants and chocolate croissants are fresh and perfect! What a treat to have this every morning of my trip! The staff: especially Mathieu and Zahra. My favorite staff members! Mathieu went about and beyond every time I saw him! He was so friendly and always had time for a chat about all things Montreal! And now for the truly disappointing things: they opened their sister hotel the week after Christmas so they were incredibly short staffed. I had no housekeeping in 3 days! I didn't have any shampoo left- I was adding water to the tiny bottle to use whatever was left on the sides. I asked the lady behind that desk every night about it! I asked/begged to switch rooms (there were a slew of other small things wrong- my safe did not function, a wall board fell off the wall without repair, the wood and leather chair were scuffed and ripped). I could over look those small things, but after no housekeeping at all for THREE DAYS during my holiday? They opened their sister hotel and now this is what happens- complete lack of service for their current patrons. This is not ok! Things like this happen, and I can deal with it IF there was some proactive information given. But nobody was saying anything except "I'll let housekeeping know"... but nobody was doing anything after that! Thankfully, they have rectified the situation since:)

It was cold with a few inches of snow and we had a snow blizzard on one of the days. However, the weather was beautiful because the sun came back right after. The hotel is adjacent to another Marriott hotel, the Residence Inn. It's funny that the two hotels are connected like a square box. So we walked to our room, the last Courtyard's room on the floor. We could keep walking if we wanted, but the next room was the Residence Inn. The only difference is the outside light for each Courtyard and the Residence Inn's room. If we keep walking past our room and use the other elevator, we will take the elevator down to the lobby of the Residence Inn. OK, enough with the floor plan. This architectural speech makes me sound so smart! Only sound, don't worry, I'm not smart. My parents thought I was smart once, then I don't know what happened LOL! The room was very nice and clean. The carpet looked old but clean. The room was fully equipped with a microwave, a small fridge, and a safe. The hotel has an indoor pool that accommodates guests from the Courtyard and the Residence Inn, but it's never crowded, and almost no one uses it. Also, we had a chance to use the sauna. Avi from the Front Office was nice enough to show us how to get to the swimming pool because it was hidden on the mezzanine floor. We dined at the hotel a few times because the food was great. They had a nice avocado and eggs, steaks, wings, etc. We enjoyed the night at the lobby and talked to the staff members when they were not busy. They're so lovely. The woman at the Front Desk was very sweet, Zayeda? The coffee maker at the lobby was tricky at first. Hubby and I tried to make coffee and saw that it kept charging, but no coffee. The night manager, Michael, explained that we don't have to worry because the charges would disappear if we didn't get coffee until we pressed the last button "make my coffee." There are a lot of steps, so you may think you finish after you pay, but no, keep going. He was right lol! Who invented this crazy machine ha! We need to talk! We had a great time staying here and will stay here again if we return to Montreal. The location is great and the price is affordable. Highly Recommended!

(With in/out). Secured, underground garage and the way to go as the alternative was street parking. I had a King room on the 5th floor. Good size with mini fridge and microwave. Modern Decor and newer hotel. Quiet floor and comfortable mattress so slept well. Spacious fitness room with a variety of cardio equipment and free/machine weights. Indoor pool was a good size and enjoyed the Dry Sauna. Surprisingly there was a conference on Saturday (on the 2nd floor). Breakfast is available and they had a self serve mini snacks area available. Suggestion for improvement would be turnaround to repair the elevator. One of them wasn't working for my entire stay which made for some waiting. Service was friendly and engaged. There is a Residence Inn next door and shares the parking garage. The famous Orange Julep is just a minute away. Would definitely stay again based on location and amenities.

Checking in was very easy and they even said they were expecting me, which was very refreshing after the last hotel I stayed in for business, which was the Hilton in Richmond, VA at Short Pump in which the staff was very condescending and poor at checking people in, especially business travelers. This place definitely took great care at check in to make sure I felt welcomed, including asking me if I had any questions. She went over everything I needed to know about the property. When I got to the room I was impressed with the size of it - it was pretty large, with lots of open space, a decent desk, plenty of seating, and a very nice, clean, and comfortable bed which was fitted with ironed sheets! The TV in the room was disproportionately small and their streaming channel options were limited, but I made the best of it, as it's mostly background noise while I'm working anyway. The location is decent, only a couple of blocks from the Rue Sainte-Catherine shopping and dining area, which also has the Complexe Desjardins (a mall). There's a Metro station a block away as well. They have a decent size gym with all the normal stuff and a pretty nice, two-level lounge for those with access via their loyalty level. Overall, I'm enjoying the stay here and would return!

One standout was the gym, which is much better than what you typically find in hotels, with multiple treadmills, a stair stepper, ellipticals, and a solid selection of weights. They also have a two lane indoor pool and an indoor hot tub, which were nice added amenities. I especially appreciated that my room had a patio, it was great being able to get some fresh air. The only downside was the noise. There were very loud neighbours in the hallway with screaming and music playing until around 11:30 pm. I contacted the front desk and was told security would be sent up, but no one came and the noise continued past midnight. Overall, a solid hotel with great amenities, but the lack of follow through on the noise issue was disappointing.

We were looking for somewhere affordable to stay in Montreal for a few days during Just for Laughs,…read moreso Auberge St. Jacques seemed like a good option. Not so much. The place looks fine from the outside and the check-in process went smoothly, but we knew something had gone awry the second we stepped inside our room. It's a dump, quite frankly. The place was clean, yes, but that's pretty much where the positives end. It's small, cramped, and completely lacking in necessary amenities. Want to sit down? Too bad, here's an uncomfortable stool. How about some TV? You're out of luck, here's a tiny monitor bolted to the ceiling. The worst part, however, is the bed. The tiny, uncomfortable, horrible bed. It's a small twin that's clearly seen better days, and feels way too hard and springy to provide any rest or relaxation. I barely slept that first night and my feet were hanging off the end of the bed the whole time. It enraged me, to put it mildly. I spent the following day dreading going back to that dump, but fortunately (I guess) I became violently ill and we decided to cut our trip short. We had pre-paid for three nights and now we weren't going to use two of them, but do you think they refunded our money for the days were weren't going to be there? Of course not! We were offered a free night on a return visit, but that's gonna be the hardest of passes from me. So we essentially paid $475 for a one night stay at the worst motel I've ever had the displeasure of encountering. I'm astonished Auberge St. Jacques has managed to hang around for so long. Please, please, please, learn from my awful experience and stay somewhere else. *Anywhere* else.

The receptionist was kind enough to check us in and was patient with us as we had to go to and from our car to get what we needed to check in. Mind you, this was at 2am when everyone should reasonably be sleeping! She was also mindful of the other guests and asked us to try to avoid making loud noises at this time, which I found appreciative. If you are a guest, well know that the staff here is also trying to make your stay comfortable behind the scenes in interactions like this. I saw a lot of reviews for state of the room and quality of stay, but those reviews honestly can be ignored. This was quite literally one of the cheapest options for nightly stays in Montreal. If you had the same comparative price point in the US where we're from, you would see how good this place really is. Either the people here expect a five star uber hotel at this price point, or they haven't really travelled many places. At this price point in DC, Denver, Raleigh and Miami, you can expect a much less. At Auberge St Jacques the beds were clean, no bed bugs, everything that was provided in the room worked, the wifi was accessible and also worked without hiccups. The bathroom was extremely clean and frankly larger than anything you'd find in the US at this price point. You could fit a compact car in that bathroom! Yes, the bar stools are stiff along a mini corner bar, but if you go to any motel at this price point in the US, you won't even have a bar stool. Also, they have soft two ply toilet paper!!! I've been to hotels double this price point where they used the cheap one ply paper toilet paper, so this place even made sure my comfort extended even into the bathroom. I don't know about others, but I don't choose a place to temporarily stay based on the minor amenities like some have based their reviews on. This review isn't based on a bar stool, toilet paper or even a tv. This review is based on comfort. The final: - A comfortable clean and affordable stay for our trip further up north. - Excellent value for the price point. - Feels very safe. - Staff are very friendly. Added Bonus: - Soft 2-ply toilet paper Overall: 5/5 Stars If we're in the area again, will stay here since it met all our needs and was accommodating

Now, the only thing that I would say is a negative about this hotel is, for the time being, it's located across from an empty lot. It's an eyesore and it's hideous. I'm sure there must be something in the works to develop the land, but this is where our room was facing and there's just no getting around it. But, this is a rather small thing. The accommodations and service at this hotel were great. The ground floor has a bank of elevators and you have to take them to the third floor to reach the hotel lobby. Check in was fast and courteous. The room was very chic and had thoughtful great built ins for storing clothing and shoes. The bed was very comfortable and had excellent pillows. I woke up each day feeling rested, which I think was in no small part due to the mattress and pillows being great quality. Toiletries were BYREDO Gypsy Water- a perfect choice to complement the elegant and modern decor. We stayed on the 6th floor which was a big plus for me since that put us right next to the gym and indoor pool facilities. The gym was well equipped and had complementary fruit infused water, aroma therapy cold towels and nutrigrain bars available post-workout. I did swim in the indoor pool which was beautiful architecturally, but at the time there was a huge family with screaming children, so it was a cacophonous experience. Definitely check it out, as you'll no doubt be impressed, but maybe go in the morning when it's less likely to draw droves of people. The staff at this hotel were all very friendly, especially the doormen who run a taxi queue across the street. Whether we were taking public transit, walking or taxis; we found the location of the Four Seasons to be too-notch, so the beautiful facilities and the friendly service were the cherry on top. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a great place to stay when visiting Montreal.

We were celebrating an anniversary and were surprised by a room upgrade and a complimentary drink in Marcus Samuelsson's MARCUS Restaurant + Lounge (which is beautiful!) while the change was made. We later received a lovely gift from friends, which included champagne and an absolutely scrumptious pastry wishing us a "happy anniversary." We were also able to get a slightly-later check-out on our last day (and were able to leave our bags to pick up on our way to the airport). The suite, on the 12th (top) floor, was lovely--set-up was similar to the Conrad in Washington, DC and The Plaza Hotel in NYC. Thankfully we could not hear the sounds from either the nightly club downstairs or the wedding celebration on the Saturday. We heard a bit of noise from the room next door on that Saturday night (think it was used to house the childcare for said wedding), but thankfully my travel white-noise machine was able to cover it. Generally loved the countertop space in the bathroom, the variable lighting schemes available and the button-controlled curtains (though sometimes wish for a guide or labels rather than trial-and-error for the latter two), the wooden room keys, and the walkability of this Four Seasons (close to convenience stores, pharmacies, cafes, restaurants, and sightseeing). Some additional pros: - Wifi worked well throughout the hotel, including the fitness facility/gym, which made my workouts that much smoother; - Electrical outlets on both sides of the bed with bedside tables; - Hair dryer, shower cap, loofa, various toiletries (wished these were unscented, as I tend to be slightly allergic to florals), robes and slippers available (would have preferred to keep the same slippers the entire stay to reduce waste); - Complimentary boxed water and a water-bottle filling station in the fitness facility/gym; - Complimentary coffee machine and hot-water kettle; - Nightly turn-down included a filled ice bucket; - Good-sized fitness facility with multiple treadmills (including a curved manual), ellipticals (two types), stair stepper, recumbent and upright cycling machines, weight benches and machines, free weights, and yoga mats; - Umbrella was available to borrow (thankfully not needed!) Only cons were in the bathroom: the temperature of the shower fluctuated during use (suddenly getting hotter or chillier) and the bathtub plug didn't fully close the drain.
