This is really a little gem of a shop! For one, the owner is a genuine sweet heart, passionate about all of the items he sells. Two, all of the items that he sells are genuinely passion provoking. Three, it's a hybrid shop with a mini café where the owner prepares fabulous Coutume Coffee on the spot so you've got the scent of rich, freshly brewed coffee wafting throughout the space while you shop.
I love original items for the home that are beautiful, affordable, and tell a story. And this place carries all of the above. The owner sources designs made by friends or acquaintances in the neighborhood, like dolls made from recycled French linen by a woman a few blocks away, silkscreen prints made by a family member, etc. Every item seems to have not only a story but a soul.
I cracked for some simple, retro-looking hand towels by a indie brand called Fog Linen that the owner swore by. At 11E a pop, I was willing to give them a chance. And boy was he right. They're the most absorbent towels ever, and never look ratty like most hand towels do after mega action with a toddler in the house.... read more
