I do not giving glowing reviews unless absolutely warranted. No grade inflation here.
Away from the maddening tourist crowd. We four had the best meal we had in a week in St Malo. Food was flavorful and beautifully presented with a surprising amount of local produce. As starters/entrees we had the lamb tartine and tuna tartar. Both excellent and generous portions. For the main/plat we had the steak au poivre with frites, lieu jaune (pollack) and lobster risotto. The beef was tender and the fish was perfectly cooked. The lobster dish was balanced - not too rich. The desserts also excelled. We had the profiteroles, the apple/pineapple warm dessert w/ice cream and the raspberry tiramisu. We couldn't decide which was best.
The menu is in French but the woman speaks excellent English if you need help and she makes great wine recommendations. We had a nice Cabernet franc that worked with all of our meals. Finally the prices are very reasonable. read more
