This restaurant is located on the old town of Saint-Malo. Serve more different variety of food than other restaurants nearby. Muscles in cream sauce were very fresh. Although the muscles were a little small but the taste were great and the amount was huge. Pan-sealed foie gras was unbelievable tasty. They melt in your mouth. Came here for dinner on a moderately busy evening - despite that, the service was super quick from start to finish, and the food was DELICIOUS! I ordered the house cider on tap, and the fish of the day, which was cod in a cheese sauce with grilled vegetables. The decor was lovely - golden themed with fairy lights. The only slightly odd thing about the restaurant was the bathroom -- omg so tiny! I think I've been in airline bathrooms bigger than it, and be careful when you first step in lest you run into the urinal (which protrudes RIGHT by the door.) A week later, while in Paris, and the boyfriend still can't stop raving about the chicken from Le Lion d'Or. This was by far the best meal we had in Saint Malo and a top three when thrown in with Paris. I had the house lamb, which was served piping hot in a pan with potatoes, carrots, and vine roasted cherry tomatoes, all in a delicious, savory gravy, with greens on the side. He had the house chicken which was served moist, on a board with vine roasted cherry tomatoes, the most delicious fries, a serving of gravy, and and greens as well. This chicken was perfection, according to the boyfriend. The ambiance is very relaxed and casual. The server was friendly and spoke English. The food was amazing. The kitchen was open very very late, when everyone else stopped serving food (after ten pm). The location is right inside the entrance to the walled city. I could go on and on. Just try it and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. read more

With so many great reviews and only one bad one we had to try. It was pretty and enticing with the twinkly lights and glassed in outdoor seating. Bright enough to read and see. Menu in English, etc, by using the QR code on the French version. Plenty of choices throughout the spectrum. I chose Over toasted Cod with potatoes, partly because so many YELPERS had posted photos and recommended it. Unfortunately, I , ordered the wrong meal. My .cod was nice, my Risoto was mealy and stickey as it always is. I missed my roasted potatoes. But, the bread and my wife's frites more than made up. My wife had half a roasted chicken, incredibly good. Neighboring table had Scallops which looked fantastic. As with every other restaurant we've been to in France, portions were too big but sides, e.g. VEGETABLES were at a premium. Wine list extensive. We chose a MACON white for a reasonable price. Plenty of deserts but we chose simple ice cream with Macarons. So, pretty place, extensive menu, incredible service, good food, international clientele. Yes, it's a tourist place but what was I? From the amazing wine list, to the food itself (I've never enjoyed a salad more in my life--A SALAD, I'm writing on Yelp about a salad!) to the chharming waitstaff who sang happy birthday and happily accommodated two travelers with limited French, this could not have been better. A Choice for a Busy Place Our top choice in the very busy tourist town of Saint-Malo. We liked the food so much we went back on our second night in town. Scallop salad was fantastic. Salmon entree was excellent in flavor and presentation. The wonder is the staff manages to pull this off in a very busy, tourist dominated location. My son and I ate here twice, once for dinner and once for a fairly simple lunch. Pro tip: order the warm apple tart for dessert. It comes with vanilla ice cream and salted caramel sauce, but I swear I would swim the English Channel for the tart alone. In the evening, I had a three-fish dinner with a risotto, and my son had a croque madame. Very good; I was only sad that I got too full to finish. One of the fish was salmon, which is usually not my favorite. But this was so fresh and served so tender, it was the piece I finished. The next day, we had croque monsieur and an omelette. To tell you the truth, the waiter seemed a little frustrated that we weren't ordering more, nor any drinks besides water. After chatting a little, however, he warmed up. We finished with the above-mentioned tart, stopping ourselves (but only just) from licking the plate. Mon fils et moi ont diné, et le jour prochain, déjeuné, à ce restaurant. Le nuit, on a bien mangé: ne croque madame pour lui et une assiette de trois poissons pour moi. Le saumon était esquis. Le déjeuner, j'ai choisi une omelette et mon fils, un croque monsieur. Il faut dire que le serveur paraissait malheureux de notre menu, mais il deviendrait très conviviale après quelques moments. This is the place you're looking for. Super friendly and attentive service with a bashful smile. Open late. And the food was delicious. Be brave, get the steak tartare (Lion d'Or style means the chef mixes it all together for you, worth the extra 1€). You won't be disappointed--sooo good. The chicken liver pate cooked in its own ramekin is superb, served with the sweetest roasted cherry tomatoes on the vine. The roasted chicken was quite good although not quite as dreamy as one my fellow Yelpers made it out to be. The tables are a little close together as another reviewer mentioned, this place is more brasserie than restaurant, but I'm not complaining. read more

Heads up everyone : don't expect to eat in a restaurant after 9pm in Saint Malo, cuz 99% of stuff is closed. This was literally one of the only restaurants open, and we ended up heading here at around 10pm after searching everywhere for a place to eat. This place was disappointing. The menu was huge and overwhelming, which is never really a good sign. They seemed to absolutely love putting cooked cherry tomatoes on LITERALLY every single dish! Everything people around us ordered and everything we ordered had some cooked cherry tomatoes on a vine included. Odd. The baked Camembert was delish. The lamb stew was kind of disappointing since not all the potatoes were marinated well, and the salad was just meh. A little too much Roquefort in it. The prices were not exactly cheap, but at least the meals were filling. It was noisy in here and you could tell that all they cared about was numbers and churning clients in and out. It's a bistro, and so you are a bit hustled and bustled in here. Don't come here expecting fine cuisine or a nice atmosphere. It's a tourist trap and not worth it. There are much better restaurants to eat at. Disregard the previous reviews - this is NOT quality French cuisine. read more

Very pricey place in the heart of the touristy part of the historic district of St. Malo. Went here as hubs insisted he need to have cod tonight for dinner. Patio seating with heat and zero social distancing was a bit unnerving for me. The place was bustling, but plenty of wait staff so pretty efficient service. So hubs very much enjoyed his cod gratinee and I ordered the grilled chicken salad. Weirdly good, but turned out to be a hot salad. Generous portion of greens, small pieces of chicken, cherry tomatoes, sliced (thinly)potatoes. This was topped with sunny side up fried egg. No bread or other accoutrements with the mains. We enjoyed our local rose and dessert for the hubs was a generous portion of rum raisin ice cream with whipped cream and a bottle of rum on the table to douse on the ice cream. All in all a better meal than I anticipated but pretty pricey as well (100€) and I really dislike touristy places. read more

Stopped by for wine and snacks. Baked camembert was fantastic and had a good selection of wines. Service was good.

Delicious meat and veg/salad, exquisite dessert, very good wine and cocktail, pleasant service. Highly recommendable!
