Went for Dinner Food…read more- 5/5. They truly showcase the quality of local Normandy products in an excellent farm-to-table concept. Bread had an amazing chew and the butter was rich and creamy. The bisque was clear broth, and the lack of cream made it easier to taste the natural sweetness of shrimp. Arugula gave it a peppery kick and the fried onions added crunch. We tried both styles of their specialty, the salt marsh lamb, and it was phenomenal. Lamb chops were grilled just slightly to create a sear, resulting in a perfect rare doneness. This allowed us to taste the unique texture of the lamb, which was very tender, being easy to cut with just your teeth. It had a very rich lamb flavor with no gaminess. While the lamb chops focused on the natural flavor of the lamb, the confit showed the culinary fineness of the restaurant. Confit was fork tender, aromatic with thyme, and the jus served as a sauce that reinforced the confit's flavor. Their vegetables were fantastic bringing out the natural flavors of each with excellent texture. Carrots were my favorite as they were roasted perfectly, creating a soft bite and emphasizing their natural sweetness. Potato mille feuille had a soft crunch, creamy interior, and the layers made for a fun texture. You could really taste the earthy flavors of the potato, which was even better when soaked with the confit jus. The cheeses were very strong with a sharp flavor. I could tell that they were of good quality, but I personally prefer milder cheeses. The farmhouse ice cream was absolutely amazing being rich, but not overpoweringly sweet. It was semi-hard, being able to hold its own shape, which resulted in a dense texture that melts in your mouth. It was a perfect pairing with the profiterole, which added a crunchy texture. Service - 4/5. Courteous and friendly service. They spoke fluent English, were readily available and the speed of service was fitting for the French dining culture. I made reservations via email and they provided a code to get past the gate. The code also provided a discount for the gate fees. Value - 5/5. Being a huge tourist destination, there are many touristy options in the area. Many of them state they offer the local specialty, agneau de pre-sale, but only have one option on their menu. La Ferme Saint-Michel is the only location I saw that has more than just a confit, offering the lamb chops that most tourists think of when it comes to lamb. They have a 45€ prix fixe of appetizer, entree, and dessert that includes the lamb confit but the lamb chops are a la carte, priced between 32-42€. Everything was sourced locally, tasted amazing, and the portions were great. An absolute must-visit restaurant to experience the local cuisine of Mont Saint-Michel. Parking - Private Lot (Free)

Dinner in Mont Saint-Michel, France…read more.. We tried to dine at La Ferme Saint-Michel on the evening that we arrived, but we didn't have a reservation. My assignment from my friends was to get a reservation for 7:30pm for a party of 4 for the next day. I emailed the restaurant, then booked online. Everything was in French, so I guessed at how to answer the usual questions: How many in the party, time, and date requested. We parked for free in the gravel lot and walked in to a busy environment. Our table was in a connecting room where it seemed brighter and calmer. I chose the set meal for 45€. My starter was the duck salad which was nice and refreshing. The main entrée was the Salt Marsh Lamb Shoulder. It seemed like a patty made from shredded meat. Strange, but tender and moist! The dessert was Pont D'Orson. The cookie between the baked apple and scoop of ice cream was like the bridge between Mont Saint-Michel and the mainland. This restaurant was large and on the noisy side. It was an interesting foodie experience!

Dinner in Mont Saint-Michel, France…read more.. We just wanted a convenient restaurant near to our hotel after a 5-hour flight, 8 hour layover, 11-hour flight, 2-hour drive, sight-seeing, and another 3-hour drive. I don't remember having lunch! The first restaurant didn't take us because we didn't have a reservation. That's why we ended up at Le Pre Sale. It looked less crowded than the restaurant across the street. We just had to wait in the lounge for a table... about 15 minutes. Staff were polite and efficient. The restaurant was pleasantly decorated with color-coordinated carpets, chairs, paintings, etc. I had the lamb entrée. It was very tender and NOT gamey! The gravy really delicious with a light, buttery flavor. The scalloped potatoes were good, too! We appreciated the complementary bread basket! This was our first real meal in France together. It was enjoyable and memorable!

It felt very touristy, which makes sense. This felt like a hotel restaurant, that was fancy-adjacent, with high prices, typical French service, and OK but not exquisite food. Everything was good, nothing was great, and service (as expected) wasn't great. It felt like all the people in the closer hotels all reserved dinner at the same time and the place went from zero to packed in a half hour. I can't ding service when they can't control the volume of customers all at one time.

However, everything was quite good, the meat charcuterie particularly delicious after the slight trek back from Le Mont Saint- Michel Castle. Service was incredibly efficient after the game, especially if you come for a later lunch. We arrived around 1 and stayed until lunch closing around 2:30. I ordered beef stew from the country menu which was perfectly soft and cooked with an assortment of summer squashes and peppers. The stew came with a side of freshly made fries, crisp and piping hot. I personally recommend their dessert, in particular the ice creams. Incredibly smooth and creamy served with both a small meringue and cookie in a glass. Despite the initial hiccup and wait with service, our waiter was efficient and hilarious. He cracked jokes constantly and left us all in a better mood. It helps that everyone in the restaurant is bilingual (French and English), and they seem to have menus in multiple languages. Pop art decor meets casual dining and decent service. Food was standard but not stellar, though the dessert is still a must.

Granted they're not an ice cream shop and I didn't go there for a meal but the two tiny scopes of ice cream were 4.50 Euros. As an American, I expected them to have air conditioning but they didn't. Most of France didn't really have any air conditioning - not in their restaurants nor their public transportation. Mind you, their restaurant was pretty empty. They had maybe two other tables occupied out of 60, but wouldn't let me sit at a table after they found out I wasn't ordering a meal from them. Thankfully, I found a seat in the waiting area near the bar to have my ice cream. I understand that this restaurant had to have high prices because it's right next to a tourist attraction but I felt the service could have been a little better. Granted the language barrier made it harder to communicate. If it wasn't for the English menu, and the heat, I would have probably got my ice cream elsewhere.

There were a few recognizable recommendations including Michelin so we popped in and were surprised that we were cheerfully seated, though we had no reservation. After ordering a nice bottle of wine, we ordered from the prefix menus. Prior to being served our starters, we were given a sampling of arancini. It looked similar to what we have had in Italy only here instead of Mazzarella cheese it was made with a local cheese. And boy was it really good! The fish soup was very tasty and the turbot entree was among the best fish dishes I've ever had. The fish was served over leeks in a white lightly creamy sauce with a delicious cheese flavor. The cod entree was also quite good. Our deserts, the apple tart with ice cream and the cheese board were well worth the calories. The local cheeses were amazing and even the crackers were special with lots of grains and flavor. The one issue I frequently have doing yelp reviews is that you are limited to whole stars. In this particular instance, given the excellent food, friendly and prompt service in the nicely restored old structure that made for a comfortable dining experience, I would give five stars. However, one of the soups and one of the entrées had to be sent back because they arrived lukewarm. Thus, I would offer up 4 1/2 stars. Given my dilemma, and the fact that the dishes temperature were easy to rectify, five stars it is.

After a full day touring the D-Day sites, we were ready for a memorable dinner. The location was easy to find and the exterior was inviting. Staff were attentive, fluent in English, and great at walking us through the menu. On that note, so was every other guest in the restaurant. Literally every table appeared to be American, including a fairly boisterous group seated right next to us. It was a jarring contrast to the quieter, more intimate French restaurants we'd visited earlier in the trip. The food was a mixed bag. The turbot fillet was outstanding, easily among the best fish I've ever had, and the mango and passion fruit rice pudding was a wonderful finish. The rest of the meal, though, didn't leave much of an impression for the price. Speaking of price, come prepared for a steep bill. And if the Michelin star draws you in hoping for an authentic French atmosphere, you may leave a little underwhelmed. On our walk home we passed a charming local spot and all quietly wished we'd eaten there instead.
