The cuisine is based around grilled meats, accompanied with a choice of baked potatoes or Frits and salads. The proprietor greeted us (he speaks English and French) and explained the choices for cooking the meals. We chose meals that are cooked at the table with the mini grills. I chose the beef plate which featured three types of beef in 100g portions each. My friend chose mixed grill plate which consisted of beef, lamb, chicken and ostrich. I chose a nice Pino Noir to go with the meal. I was driving so I passed on an after dinner whisky but I could have been quite content with the selection. Through my conversation with the proprietor I discovered that he built all the tables, bar, kitchen and grills himself. He is an avid skier and mountaineer. This is reflected in the decor which is tastefully put together. An interesting fact is that each table has a tag with the name of a historic expedition / explorer. If you aren't familiar with the name of your table, just ask and you will receive an interesting history lesson including some lesser known trivia about the expedition.

Kebabs or frites looked most likely, but then Yelp suggested a decent pizza place just over the road from my hotel. The sit-down restaurant looks very pleasant, but the real star is the pizza. As you walk into the entrance hallway you're presented with a close-up view of a large wood-fired brick-lined pizza oven, with the main kitchen behind its' bulky presence. So far, so promising, but the best tools aren't much use without someone who knows how to use them. Luckily, Pantalone's pizzaiolo really knows his stuff. Don't get hypnotised watching the pizzaiolo at work! Walk past him and make a left. Place your order at the till and you'll get a receipt. Hand this to the pizzaiolo and then watch him go to work. A quattro stagioni was heaped with all the goodness I could have asked for and was made and cooked fresh, right before my eyes, in a little over five minutes. Sadly I was far too hungry to remember a picture. Finally, takeaway costs a couple of Euros less than if you eat in the restaurant.

Others who came in later were served quicker. We reserved a table for 2 in advance for 8.30pm and arrived on time. Waiters seemed cold and lacking in motivation. Restaurant was empty by the time we finished our main course and the staff were too busy tidying tables to ask if we wanted desert, coffee or anything else. Paid the bill and left. Poor night and £100 down the drain for two basic courses that were nothing special. You can do much better. Advise you go elsewhere. Unless you like sombre atmosphere, isolation or need to go for training purposes on how not to run a restaurant while maximizing diner stress and dissatisfaction. Giving them a 2 because the main course was OK and, for the benefit of the doubt, in case they were having a Faulty Towers Drunken Chef moment. Their reply to my review on TripAdvisor gives you a good indication of how they view their customers if you have a valid complaint. Didn't even bother to read the review properly.
